Does anyone have Aetna Choice Plus?

I know surgery is covered but I'm wondering if they make it difficult to get approved. I want mentally prepared for battle if need be. lol.

Thanks! Did you do the 6 month diet or 3 month multidisciplinary preparation?

Three months, had my surgery June 11 and have already lost 50lbs between the two week pre diet and the post surgery. No regrets just remember to move like they tell you after surgery. I can already ride my bike 5 miles and I'm loving life again. I still have between 80 to 100lbs to go, but for the first time in years I think I can do it.

That's inspiring! I'm doing the 3 month as well. I have my pcp, dietician, psychiatrist, surgeon and I attend weekly support groups. Does that sound about right? My surgeons office has only done the 6 month diet so this is somewhat new to them. Most if the patients here are military, BCBS or medicare. Sorry if I'm asking to many questions. You're the first person I've met with my insurance. :-)

I also have the same insurance. I did the six month diet though. You'll be fine. My surgery is two weeks away and I'm getting nervous/excited/scared/happy/relieved and a lot of other emotions. :-)

Thank you for the info! I'm stressing because I want to have my surgery before the end of the year.

I just spoke with the living healthy nurse coach. She says it looks like I'm doing all the right things and she's going to monitor my case as soon as the doctor establishes my case. I feel much better knowing there's a team of people with Aetna to help me in the process. She says I have access to a counselor, dietician, and a pharmacist for free with our plan. I can use them to help establish my team. This is really going to happen! :-)

I got my approval today. it only took 2 working days. I still don't have a date. My surgeon thinks it'll be in December.

I got lucky. My nurse coordinator's office is next to the reviewers office. She was bugging them about reviewing my case before my surgeon's office submitted the request. Now she's bugging my other doc to get the request for the other procedure I'll be having at the same time as my rny.
