  1. I have BCBS and I have done the 7 months as well! I'm just waiting to hear back too! According to my surgeons office BCBS just wants to see that you did the time and they approve!
  2. Still is nice to have a network of people in your age range who can understand what you're going through!
  3. I'm 24 and haven't gotten a date yet (waiting for approval) but hoping that I'll hear something soon! I feel like people in their 20s may be getting this procedure but aren't really utilizing this forum.
  4. I'm waiting on approval and a date but I'm estimating that I'll be in sept sometime! Fingers crossed!
  5. That does sound too bad. What did the pulmonary test consist of?
  6. Well I was wondering what happened at the pre-op visit AFTER you got approved. I've been going through this for 7 months so here's what's happened so far: 7 nutritional visits where you weigh in, a medical seminar with the surgeon where they go over your options and you take a before picture, medical clearance from your PCP, a psych eval and then a separate appointment for feedback on your evaluation. My information is being sent to insurance and I'm just waiting to hear back about whether or not I was approved!!
  7. How long did it take you to hear back?
  8. Had my last nutrition appointment today! It's going to insurance so it will be 8-10 days hopefully before I hear anything! The nutritionist said she see's no reason why I shouldn't get approved! Now I'm just playing the waiting game. Eekkk
  9. Look at it as a day rebirth! A whole new beginning.
  10. You look amazing! You're almost there!!!
  11. You absolutely have nothing to be embarrassed about! I'm so joyful about my decision to pursue RNY. I only withhold from telling people because I don't want the negativity but I'm not at all ashamed. It's a big decision and it means you're brave enough to try! I also have BCBS and will be submitting to insurance after the 19th. Good luck to US!!
  12. Hahaha you were right, I'm good to go! She'll send her "okay" to my PCP and Surgeon Monday. One last NUT appointment on the 19th and then onto insurance!
  13. Getting feedback on my psych eval--in the waiting room! Eekkkkk
  14. I'm still in the pre-op phase. Going to get my feedback from the psych eval next week and my last NUT appt is the 19th. Then we'll submit to insurance and play the waiting game :/. My highest was over 330 as of March 2012. I got down 280 and now I'm 285. Trying to lose 10lbs before my last NUT visit via the Pre-Op diet.
  15. Talk to your doc, from what I've gathered every doctor will varies! I know I plan to I just need to discuss that with my surgeon. I'm a social girl who enjoys going out for a few drinks every now and again.
  16. I'm on a similar pre-op diet but mine is 1200 calories and my NUT wants me to lose about 10 lbs before surgery (even though I don't have insurance approval yet). 1700 is fine. Your body needs a minimum of 1200 calories a day in order to prevent it from going into starvation mode.
  17. Same for me with eating LITTLE but BAD! I don't really eat often but everything I love is bad for me: Bread, Doritos, Taco Bell, Mexican, ANY Fried FOOD. I've been a vegetarian for 15 months and I still eat unhealthy foods. Ugh!
  18. I think that's what's going to be the worst part of pre-op for me---waiting for the approval. I still have two visits and my psych. But hang in there! We're all pulling for you!
  19. Awesome! Can't wait until I can say that!
