  1. Mami you're right! I NEVER want to forget, it'll be my motivation for not going back! I'm definitely glad I found this site, it helps to have people who can understand what you're going through. I'm sorry about the marital troubles, make sure you're taking care of yourself and not dealing with less than you deserve!
  2. Thank you Mami! You're so nice, I always see your posts on here I'm ready to join the losers bench!
  3. Thanks everyone! I was just wondering what to expect. I'm getting butterflies as this is really nearing the end and I just want everything to go smoothly and get my approval!
  4. How long does the appointment last? What did the appointment consist of?
  5. Hi everyone! I'm 24 and I'm having my psych eval in exactly one week and then submitting for insurance approval! I'm so nervous but I'm so excited! It's great to have a network of people in my age range that I can talk to about this stuff! Looking forward to getting to know you all! I'm from Michigan so would love to meet fellow Michiganders!
  6. I would like this list as well! Thanks a ton!!! bree.bland@gmail.com
  7. It's tough with summer and wanting to enjoy all the summer activities. I have so much going on but of like the surgery before the end of August so I'd hopefully be feeling normal for my 25th birthday in October!
  8. 1) Congratulations! 2) I'm so jealous!! My surgeon doesn't submit for approval until I complete my last two NUT visits and psych eval. I'm nervous that I won't get approved and I'll be crushed especially now that I'm getting excited about it! Good luck with the procedure and can't wait to read your updates! When do you start the pre-op diet?
  9. Thank you, I'll update every step of the way.
  10. Let me know how it works for you!
  11. Hi all! I'm two nutrition visits and a psych eval away from submitting for insurance approval! I'm super excited for this surgery and hopefully to have the outside match the inside! I'm really nervous about getting approval. My highest weight was 330 but then went vegetarian and was at 290 and had my gallbladder out and my surgeon suggested I look at WLS. I'm starting the pre-op diet early that consists of 1200 calories a day so I can lose more weight before the surgery. My surgeon said hopefully we'll have a July/August date. Fingers crossed! Looking forward to getting to know everyone and sharing this journey with you all.
  12. I'm living in Flint working for UM-Ann Arbor and getting my surgery (pending insurance approval) done at McLaren with Dr.Kia! Are there some sort of support groups for after the procedure or even before where you can get advice on how to cope with the lifestyle changes!
  13. This is a concern for me as well. Im havkg the RNY hopefully in July/August. I'm 24; a social drinker, my circle of friends and I do enjoy going out once in a while and having a few drinks. I actually enjoy kicking back every now and again with a few. I don't have a problem giving up mixers and doing vodka waters. What experience has people has with beer? I love beer but of that's an absolute no no...I can give it up.
  14. Hello everyone! I hope this is the appropiate forum, just a quick background about me. I'm a African-American female, 24 years old and I have decided to get the RNY. I had my gallbladder out in November 2012 and my surgeon said I had fatty liver from being overweight and should consider WLS. At first I was angry because I didn't see myself as extremely obese and needing WLS. I had converted to vegetarianism in March of 2012 and went from 330lbs to 290lbs. I thought that I was on a road to healthy lifestyle and felt more confident than I ever had. But I chose to go see the nutritionist and do some research about WLS and see hwat happens. As of last month I decided to start the paperwork and today after my 5th visit (I have to do 7 for insurance) I've decided to go with RNY. I've been reading the threads on here and talking to people who've had both sleeve, lap band, and RNY. I was nervous for a while and people keep telling me that there are easier ways to lose weight. But I feel as though I need real help! I want to live a long and healthy life and I want the outside to look how I feel on the inside. I have two visits left and my psych eval before they submit to the insurance company for approval. I'm so nervous; I'm scared they'll reject it and I will have gotten my hope up for nothing. Also, today I was given the pre-op diet. The nutritionist wants me to start earlier so that I'm not struggling 10 days before and I'll be used to it. Any suugesstions!?
