I don't think I ever experienced weight gain with bc. Maybe it depends which one you were on. I've had the best luck with a pill called Kariva. Fairly regular cycles, only 4 days max and I barely needed to use anything. Loved it. Def talk to your doc. They would know better!!

I will second Kim. I thought the first two weeks were miserable (but tolerable) if only for the food side of things. I had those "what did I do to myself" moments a few times but haven't thought that since probably beginning of second week (and I will be 3 weeks post op on Fri)
I'm a worry wart - so I made sure I had Valium before the surgery. It was my first major surgery so I didn't know what to expect.
I can tell you though - this is the best I have felt since I was probably a teenager (and I just turned 30!) No arthritis bothering me. I suffer from chronic Migraine and I have had 1 very small migraine in 3 weeks! I am literally running up hills, playing chase with my daughter, sitting on the floor without a second thought. This surgery has given me my life back.
    You will do SO great!!

This is I think normal. It's all a process. Somedays I would get so upset wondering how on earth could I ever function with my normal life when I was struggling just trying to do fluids and work out Vitamins etc. The good news is...This too shall pass! It's all a process that comes. It won't be 100% perfect at 1st. You have to adapt and learn what works and finally some things will just click and fall into place. Fluids was a hard one for me. I found sugar free Popsicles helped me tons. My nutritionist suggested them and it did help. Don't worry if it doesn't come immediately cause it's something we all pretty much have been though. If u ever need to talk or any help please feel free to message me. I'm almost 8 months out and not totally perfect but I remember all too well how frustrated I felt. Also be kind to yourself. A lot of hormonal changes and issues happen the weeks after surgery and things can be a bit kooky for awhile. That too gets better. We are here to help!

Monyka!!! Lol - I would never eat at BK before and now all I want is a whopper!! Damn head hunger!!
Have you tried anything like yogurt or sour cream? I've noticed that anything with milk goes down and sits really well for me. The Dannon Oikos Light n Fit is really good. I also always put FF sour cream in my chili (and I never ate chili before my surgery because I hated it) because it helps it sit better. I've heard people refer to these things as "slider foods."
I have noticed that some things are more difficult to digest - the first time I did eggs was a little hard, I felt uneasy after but not nauseous. Now I have no problems. Same with tuna. Tried it first, took it slow felt "strange" but now I can eat that too. Here are some things I have tried:
Turkey chili with reduced fat shredded cheese and fat free sour cream (prob 2 oz total)
Tuna with light mayo and salt/pepper/garlic powder
One egg omelet with 1oz shredded cheese and a couple "dots" of ketchup
Egg salad with light mayo and garlic powder
The one time I "ate out" was Taco Bell's Pintos and Cheese with a side of sour cream (I got 3 meals out of one cup!)
Very moist meatloaf with lean ground beef and a couple "dots" of ketchup
    Cottage cheese
Ricotta cheese with no sugar added sauce nuked for 1 minute in a dish
Retried Beans with cheese and sour cream
The usual: yogurt, cream of chicken Soup.
I can barely tolerate Protein shakes so my nutritionist gives us the option of 3 glasses of fat free or 1% milk or a Protein shake. Helllllllo milk!!
I hope this helps you out the next 6 days. I don't know about you but all I want is to chew real food!!!

I stalled at 3wks and 7wks. I understand theres another coming up at around 14wks. Its normal and thats the time you want to take measurments instead of weighing yourself.
chin up kid.. you are normal.. and if you have more questions.. theres always the chat room. Its more active at night.

    Hi, that's not really a stall. It's a slowdown.
It seems hard but here is the article that we continually are referred to here by forum vet Butterthebean:

BaHuber - I don't think complaining is hardly what I was doing. I stated that I know things like this are normal and was just venting my frustrations. Please don't attack me. I don't appreciate it.

Oh that explains why I didn't hear of it! At first I was really struggling but then I found this is what works for me: drink sun up to sun down. That is, from the time you wake up til you go to bed. Drink, Protein, drink, protein etc. Most days I can get within 10oz of my goals when I use this technique. I know it's hard - some days you don't even want to eat or drink. You got this!!

That sounds familiar! Please don't give up - first 3 days are the worst. After Day 4, it becomes a way of life almost. Today is my 14th day and I have surgery on Friday. What kept me going was thinking about how healthy I want to be after, my daughter and my husband. You CAN do this. It will not be forever and remember, it's the gold at the end of a very long rainbow!!

Princess - I had gastric bypass and am still on liquids however, I can eat yogurt and I notice with yogurt that I can eat the whole cup!! It takes me a little but I can do it - I've heard people call these slider foods. Some foods of down easier. I don't know the ins and outs of band patients, but I would think that it is more normal than not.

I'm still on stage 3 liquids. I'm on them for 2 weeks post op. My first week is over and to be honest like everything else over the past few months - this too shall pass. My first few days were really rough trying to get Proteins and fluids in. I didn't feel like putting anything in my mouth. Now, I'm doing better. Today is day 8 post op. There are no other words to describe how I feel except - FANTASTIC. I haven't experienced getting up and feeling no pain in my joints in probably, years. I have so much energy and am happy. I am able to bend down without hearing my knees crack, able to walk a little without getting winded - I can't believe the amount of change I feel only from a little weight loss.
I know someone said they were struggling with getting Proteins and fluids in. I can say this - I drink from sun up to sun down. I always have something nearby to drink whether it be a Protein shake or Water. Remember to that things like Decaf tea, Jello, broth are all liquids so count them! I have found the Protein shakes I thought were great, I can barely stomach anymore. After switching it up again, I am able to drink more and it tastes better.
Other than my incisions being a little sore, my stomach feels pretty good. I had a lot of shoulder pain in the beginning and that passed after a couple days thank goodness!! My hw: 345. I was 322 the day or surgery. This morning, I weighed in at 311. I consider 11 pounds in one week a win. And I'm still fat. Go figure!! Lol - I desperately wanna see the 200's on my scale.

Thanks! I'm also super excited now because I tried out the whole laying down in bed thing. I shoved a blanket under my stomach so it wouldn't fall towards the bed (I know that sounds gross) - I figured because my incisions and it was pulling and giving me shoulder pain. It worked LIKE A CHARM! I'm super duper excited to sleep on my side tonight. The little things!
