Anyone try these yet? The entire line is 0 cal/0 carb - they've got everything from jams to mayo to dips to salad dressings. Even ketchup! Anyone have feedback??

    Female issues with RNY?

I don't think I ever experienced weight gain with bc. Maybe it depends which one you were on. I've had the best luck with a pill called Kariva. Fairly regular cycles, only 4 days max and I barely needed to use anything. Loved it. Def talk to your doc. They would know better!!

    Female issues with RNY?

I'm going through this now. I got my period on the 16th but since about the 14th I have been miserable. I mean just pure hell. I've spent the last two days doing nothing but laying in bed. I don't have PCOS and have always had pretty typical cycles. This one though, takes the cake!! No cravings or hunger but just very shaky, very headachy, tired. I usually use tampons but the first two days I just couldn't because it was that heavy. I've heard this is pretty normal - hormones, a lot of weight loss in the beginning and if you're like me, about 10 days worth of blood thinners that the dr said would only add to whatever was happening. So - I fully intend on going on birth control. It makes me super nervous being a fertile myrtle!! I don't need another toddler for a LONG time!

    The Slow Losers Thread

What are you guys doing for exercise? I live in CT and it's snow season. It's extremely difficult to even go outside to walk because there is ice/snow everywhere. Plus, I have a 20 month old toddler that I have to bring along so that doesn't help much either. I feel as though I need to kick my weight loss into overdrive because the scale has not moved for a LONG time and I am only 3 weeks out!! I have a good 150 pounds to lose and nothing is happening! I'm starting to get really frustrated. What are some exercises you guys do??

    Christmas Cookies

Hi. I recently was given all of my Dad's diabetic cookbooks from my Mom and there are a TON of yummy things in there. Better Homes and Gardens has a diabetic cookbook with great sweet treats in there. I just had sf chocolate pudding since my surgery about 3 1/2 weeks ago and it was heaven - for all of 4 or 5 spoonfuls! I will take a look and post a recipe or two when I get a chance!!

    Frustrated

Monyka!!! Lol - I would never eat at BK before and now all I want is a whopper!! Damn head hunger!! Have you tried anything like yogurt or sour cream? I've noticed that anything with milk goes down and sits really well for me. The Dannon Oikos Light n Fit is really good. I also always put FF sour cream in my chili (and I never ate chili before my surgery because I hated it) because it helps it sit better. I've heard people refer to these things as "slider foods." I have noticed that some things are more difficult to digest - the first time I did eggs was a little hard, I felt uneasy after but not nauseous. Now I have no problems. Same with tuna. Tried it first, took it slow felt "strange" but now I can eat that too. Here are some things I have tried: Turkey chili with reduced fat shredded cheese and fat free sour cream (prob 2 oz total) Tuna with light mayo and salt/pepper/garlic powder One egg omelet with 1oz shredded cheese and a couple "dots" of ketchup Egg salad with light mayo and garlic powder The one time I "ate out" was Taco Bell's Pintos and Cheese with a side of sour cream (I got 3 meals out of one cup!) Very moist meatloaf with lean ground beef and a couple "dots" of ketchup Cottage cheese Ricotta cheese with no sugar added sauce nuked for 1 minute in a dish Retried Beans with cheese and sour cream The usual: yogurt, cream of chicken Soup. I can barely tolerate Protein shakes so my nutritionist gives us the option of 3 glasses of fat free or 1% milk or a Protein shake. Helllllllo milk!! I hope this helps you out the next 6 days. I don't know about you but all I want is to chew real food!!!

    hurting can't sleep

You sound JUST like me right after the hospital. The gas pain was so bad for me. I felt it all in my shoulders. I slept in our chair the first 2 nights home and was so upset because I thought I had basically signed my life away for nothing but pain. It gets better. Walk, drink water - a heating pad saved me the first few days. I know it sounds crazy now but in 2 weeks you'll feel awesome!!!!

    Frustrated

Oh and a point about the food - I daydream constantly about food. Pizza, Chinese, pasta, my favorite foods I would eat before surgery. I smell everything I can't have. My point is that I think it's more "normal" than not. I remind myself that while the behaviors before were definitely NOT good, this surgery was not a fix all for bad food choices. I know I will eat pizza again. Maybe not delivery and 800 pieces, but a pizza made my way, that will help with those cravings.

    Frustrated

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. I am also 3 weeks post op RNY too. I'm not sure what sort of foods you can have - your stage 2 sounded like my stage 3 and what I was discharged on at the hospital. I'm on soft puréed now and have about 6 days left. I have been eating Turkey chili with Beans, shredded cheese and sour cream like it's my biz!!! I don't know if you can have that but it makes me feel semi-human. I totally understand where you are coming from. Keep drinking. I feel like I can never get enough Water in! Hang in there We are in this together!!
  13. Hi all - am almost 3 weeks post op. Dropped close to 20 pounds the first two weeks and I have only lost about 3 pounds in the last almost week!!! I know my doctor said it was inevitable - and he said I probably wouldn't lose much in the next couple weeks but it almost has me second guessing why I did this. I feel fantastic and I know I won't drop 100 pounds overnight but in my head I keep thinking that I lost more weight than this ridiculous amount by just eating healthy!!! I'm just about at my breaking point with frustration. I know it is normal but what gives? I'm ready to start losing again.

    Frickin Stalls!

Thanks guys! It's nice to know I'm not alone BB - thank you for offering some great suggestions. I have been wondering if maybe I am not drinking enough or I should exercise more.

    Frickin Stalls!

Lol Ann - my husband says that all the time!! As soon as I put my crazy toddler to bed, I will read it! Thank you both for the article!

    Frickin Stalls!

Thank you Chelle!!! I needed to hear that! It's nice to know I'm not alone I wish you great luck on your weight loss journey and hope you break those numbers!

    Chelle Thank you!!!!!

    Frickin Stalls!

Yes VSGAnn - I guess that is where my frustration is stemming from. It is very hard to not compare yourself to the weight that other people have lost. I suppose in my mind before surgery I thought it would be more because I was heavier. Does that make sense? LOL - anyhow, it is a lot in 3 weeks. I just don't know if others have experienced a slowdown or stall around this point and more so, what they did to break it!

    Frickin Stalls!

MyChoice - Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate them. I was simply looking for someone to understand where I was coming from. VSGAnn - thank you for the math. I'm not wondering why I'm not at goal. It took me 30 years to develop poor eating habits and I am well aware that I may not be through with all of them just because of surgery. Unfortunately, I don't read posts like this floating around on the internet and so I decided to ask if anyone else is experiencing this. I guess it's nice to know I'm not alone? Looks like I opened a can of worms. Going forward, I understand this isn't a race and it has taken me years to get here. It also took me years to make the decision to have surgery. I'm simply looking for people that I can connect with on this topic and to not be told I'm complaining. Thanks!

    Frickin Stalls!

BaHuber - I don't think complaining is hardly what I was doing. I stated that I know things like this are normal and was just venting my frustrations. Please don't attack me. I don't appreciate it.

    Any Regrets?

I will second Kim. I thought the first two weeks were miserable (but tolerable) if only for the food side of things. I had those "what did I do to myself" moments a few times but haven't thought that since probably beginning of second week (and I will be 3 weeks post op on Fri) I'm a worry wart - so I made sure I had Valium before the surgery. It was my first major surgery so I didn't know what to expect. I can tell you though - this is the best I have felt since I was probably a teenager (and I just turned 30!) No arthritis bothering me. I suffer from chronic migraine and I have had 1 very small migraine in 3 weeks! I am literally running up hills, playing chase with my daughter, sitting on the floor without a second thought. This surgery has given me my life back. You will do SO great!!

    November 2013 Post Op

Oh that explains why I didn't hear of it! At first I was really struggling but then I found this is what works for me: drink sun up to sun down. That is, from the time you wake up til you go to bed. Drink, protein, drink, protein etc. Most days I can get within 10oz of my goals when I use this technique. I know it's hard - some days you don't even want to eat or drink. You got this!!

    The Slow Losers Thread

I'm a little more than 2 weeks post op. I was 323 the day of surgery and have now been sitting at 302 for the last 3 days. I'm not discouraged. My surgeon said a 2 week stall is completely normal. I think it drives me more crazy knowing I'm so close to the 200's!! Especially because I have a lot of weight to lose!!!

    November 2013 Post Op

How much protein and fluid are you getting in? I know for me personally, I vary day to day. I log everything down but haven't ever heard of a "test" for endurance and strength. Did you have complications with your surgery?
