  1. Have you tried increasing your calorie intake? You could also contact your nutritionist and see what tips they have for you. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  2. Didn't have a tremendous amount of head hunger before surgery. Some, but not extreme. Since the surgery, I literally cannot think about anything but food. I'm constantly trying to figure out how many days and meals left until I can eat actual food again (still on full liquids) and I couldn't fall asleep until after 3am last night because I couldn't stop thinking of the meals I wanted to try once I can eat food. I'm going crazy here, and I still have another week of liquids! I actually cheated yesterday too. BF's mom made cheese potatoes and I tried 2 small potato pieces. Chewed them real good, and they went down perfectly fine. I so hope I get early clearance. I'm going to have a mental breakdown soon from lack of food.
  3. OK just to throw my 2 cents in....I did try it LOL no dumping. HOWEVER I do notice a very different taste. BF ate some salami and afterwards it seriously tasted like salami LOL.....I told him to go eat some bacon and we'll try again! lmao
  4. Yes it does, but from the research I've done that's because the shot makes your body think you're pregnant, and the main weight gain is from food cravings and eating. Which will be minimal post op anyway. Also the average weight gain is only about 12 pounds. Unfortunately I don't have many other options, unless the BF wants to get snipped LOL
  5. I haven't yet tried a chocolate or vanilla with coffee. Maybe that'll make it a little tolerable. Thanks for the tip. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  6. I've never noticed, but then again I haven't tried any since my tastes have changed. I know the soy has a lot more sodium in it, but less sugar. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  7. No, but I did get some redness and itchiness where the bandaid adhesive was Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  8. I'm in the same boat, have not found a single supplement I can stand yet. I think I might get some of the unflavored and add it to my regular foods. Has anyone else done that? Does it change the taste/texture at all? Also I'm going to ask my nutritionist about Tropical smoothie when I see her. I went through their nutritional menu and found 3 that I may be able to do with Splenda. They can add Protein shots to them. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  9. I just did half the neighborhood. Felt like I could do it again, but don't want to overdo it and end up in pain. About how much we're you doing at one week? Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  10. I'm one week post op, haven't really had much pain other than minor aching/cramping. I have my first appointment tomorrow and that's one of the questions I was going to ask. I've been walking around the neighborhood twice a day or so, but I'm anxious to get to the gym and start really going at it. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  11. Yikes! Did you get a pregnancy test yet?? That is one of the reasons I do not want to go with an IUD. I'm going to be starting Depo in about 2 weeks. Never tried it before, but we'll se how it works. I DO NOT like the idea of something implanted in me, such as an IUD or Norplant, or even the Nuvaring. I know I've severely limited my options by not wanting those, but I'm really hoping the shots work well for me. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  12. Well....they have a lot of protein lol......seriously though, if you're craving pizza you can probably have some. But limit yourself to one slice or half a slice. Also just look for healthier alternatives, like the cheese crust or the tortilla crust. Homemade is always better because you can control what goes in it, and more importantly, what doesn't.
  13. Or maybe try increasing your protein at meals or fill in the time with a protein drink, might keep you full longer.
  14. I actually asked one of the people in my program about that once. She said eating smaller meals every 2-3 hours will not work for a bypass patient because it would cut so much drinking time out of the day, you'll never be able to hydrate enough. BUT maybe if you're feeling hungry you could have a little soup or something that IS liquid, so it wouldn't cut back on those. If that doesn't work, I'd talk to your nutritionist to see what they suggest.
  15. Definitely call them and ask. They'll let you know if you can go ahead with it or if you have to reschedule. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  16. I didn't fart much at all in the hospital, and I didn't poop until 5 days post op. even that wasn't much. What do they expect to come out when you haven't eaten anything solid in a week? Lol I've been incredibly lucky so far. Not much pain, I haven't taken pain meds since I was in the hospital. Tolerating everything pretty well. I just cheated and had about a dimensions semi-sweet chocolate chips. I HAD to chew something, and they liquified before I even swallowed them. And less sugar in those than in my unsweetened applesauce. It felt phenomenal to chew something. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  17. You probably won't be able to wear anything. I couldn't. Let the nurse know, they deal with it all the time. They'll help you. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  18. You can certainly dye it at any time, however it may not take quite as well as it normally would because of the hormonal changes in the body. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  19. Wow...who knew a hot dog would have more Protein than an egg lol Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  20. It is, but depending on your tolerance you may be able to have a little bit. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  21. I am on Pepsid for a month. I think most of my hunger right now is head hunger. Can't wait for my first follow up. I'm doing really well tolerating everything so far. Maybe I'll get early clearance. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  22. That is a great site! I cannot wait until I can eat regular foods again. I'm SO excited to try and make all my favorite foods healthier so I can still enjoy them Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  23. I did not have any drain. Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
  24. Pooped. Lol. I'm 5 days post op and have had no feelings to go yet. I figured its because I'm just on liquids, but I can't go 2 weeks without going. I have my first follow up appt this Thursday and I'll ask then as well, but if I should've gone by then I don't want to get readmitted Re-Birthday: 2/27/13
