Banded 9/30 Problems
Hey, you are not 50! You can't be my hubby!

Abdominal Swelling
I thought I would try to sleep on my stomach last night. Big mistake. I woke up in such pain and had to take two motrin. Do you think the port in pushing against something and causing pain? It is located to the upper left of my belly button. It would make sense since this is where the pain is. Maybe a dumb question, but I thought I would ask. The swelling is still there and I have to go to work today. The preschool children are going to think I am pregnant! I have to leave in one hour and I still can't find anything comfortable to wear except for pajamas. I just may have to do that for a while.

Banded on 9/25/08 - Am I supposed to feel so rotton?
My daughter was banded on Sept. 25 and is having loose stools and feels like she is going to vomit. She says it's more intestinal and does not have any pain in the upper part of her stomach. Her doctor said it may be a stomach bug, but I was wondering if anyone else has had these same problems. She was told to try soft foods at this point like eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, fish etc... She feels the food is going down ok and not getting stuck or anything. So why is she feeling so yucky?:tt2:

Abdominal Swelling
I am glad to hear that the air will gradually come out. I truly look pregnant! My daughter has no swelling or gas. We were both banded last week. Good luck and keep up the good work!

What's Normal after surgery?
Hi I know what you mean about the gas! I feel like a walking fart machine to be blunt. I also get gas pains, but they are under my ribs. I am swollen like a pumpkin as of today, I don't have much pain. I am 45 years old and was banded on Sept. 30. I am not glad to hear that you are swollen but it makes me feel better knowing that it is normal. My daughter was banded on Sept. 25 and her stomach has actually gone down.

Abdominal Swelling
I am swollen too. It looks like I have a squash attached to my side!

I am a caffiene addict-HELP!!
Don't worry. MY doctor said I COULD have caffine and I actually had some coffee right after my surgery!!! I had a caffine headache and he said I could have a few sips. The only reason you are told not to have caffine is because it dehydrates you. My Dr. said that I could have a cup of coffe in the morning as long as I get in ALL my fluids during the day. (64oz.) So, relax and have a cup of coffee on me. Some of you may disagree, but I am doing what my Dr. says. I was banded on 9/30 and am eating small portions of cottage cheese, yogurt and mushy life cereal. I guess my Dr. is a bit more relaxed than others, but that is ok with me! I feel fine and am not overdoing it. Good luck!

I was banded on 9/30 as well. I was lucky because my daughter had it done five days before me so I was able to see what to expect. Has anyone taken care of you since your banding? You need a lot of TLC until you are back on your feet. Also, get out of the house if you already havn't. It is good to get your mind off things. I live in NH and the leaves are beautiful now. Have your hubby or a friend take you for a ride or a quick visit to one of your favorite stores. Do you have all the right food and drink at home? I am able to eat yogurt, cottage cheese even had some goldfish yesterday. (just a few) I actually sucked on them until they turned to mush. I wilsh I could help you more. You are NOT going crazy. You have just been through a lot. My daughter had a day where she was teary because of the lack of food but after seeing her Dr., he told her that in just a few weeks, she will be eating normal again, just smaller portoins. He even said I could have a slice of pizza and one beer once in a while. It's not the end of the world, it's a new beginning. Good Luck.

Hi!! I'm new..and approved!
Hi Kathy and Oshute too! I guess we are all neighbors. Kathey, I am sooooo proud of you for calling about the meeting. I was lucky to have my husband and daughter with me. You can do it. You will learn so much and will realize that this surgery is not as bad as you may think. Its all for the good. Yes, I am scared too. My inusrance co. called me yesterday and told me all I need to do is pay a $300.00 co-pay and then they will cover 100% of the surgery!! I am in shock. I just have to wait for the predetermination paperwork to go through explaing to them that I need the surgery for medical reasons, not cosmetic. I don't think there will be a problem. My husband meets with the surgeon this Friday to get his surgery date. I still can't believe that the three of us are probably going to have it done. I have learned so much from everyone on the web sight. Oshute has answered some of my questions and has been a big help. (Thanks for being there Oshute on my first day of checking out this web sight!) Take care girlfriends. Kim

Hi!! I'm new..and approved!
Hi Kathy I am scared to death as well but know I must do this because I have failed every diet I ever tried. My Dr. says it is very safe and easier than when I had my gall bladder out. Have you gone to an imformational meeting in your area? We have one coming up in Keene and I will let you know the date if you want. I went to the first one they held a couple months ago but want to go to this one as well because there will be some people there that have acutally had it done. If you are interested, let me know. I could even meet you there. Don't worry, I am a very nice person, not a psyco or anything! I teach preschool in my town and am a pretty normal person. I only started looking into this a couple months ago and things have been moving along pretty quickly. I just hope my insurance comes back saying they will cover it or at least some of it. I am scared too. I understand your fear. I am 120lbs over weight and 45 years young. I am both excited and nervous. I think that's just normal. What does everyone else think?

Hi!! I'm new..and approved!
I feel for you sweetie. I didn't do a lot with my daughter when she was younger because of the same reasons. We live across the street from a lake and I never took her swimming there because I too was embarassed. I still do not go to the lake. I am 45 now and have lost a lot of living because of my weight. I weigh 272 and feel like crap as well. I feel for ya!

Hi Ohshute Where in NH do you live? I live in Keene. I have been been overweight since college. I too have lost and gained over the years. It stinks as well. I am ready for a life style change or I may not have a life! Kim
