Yes. But only the abdominal area. You must be 18 months post op, maintain goal weight within a 5 pound variance, and the loose skin must be photographed and documented by your surgeon. I have Tricare South, and am going through this process now.

My gastric surgeon submitted photographic proof at my 18 month mark. I have 3 pannier aprons of skin around my middle, which causes an increase of rashes & infections. Tricare is very by the book.

Do you have a full body of the before? I dint think you're too skinny. I think you're perfect. The reason people say you're top skinny is because either they are not use to seeing you this size or from a bit of jealousy.

I was told by dr. That the stomach is still viable with artery and veins. To me it meant its still alive just not holding food.< /p>

Wow.... I would change doctors just because he sounds very unprofessional !!! I would call your ins. co. and see EXACTLY what they require for approval. I did not need my PCP I just had my RNY surgeon take care of everything. My PCP did write a letter stating why he thought I would be a great canidate which did help and was a requirement of my surgeon. Good luck

I have tricare prime and like others had to have 6 months of weigh-ins. I have finished the 6 and tomorrow have a preop appt with the Dr. I'm not sure what happens during preop appt. I have not researched yet cuz I'm new here. I have reAd a lot about the rny and some things scare me such as the people that have been 4 yrs or so post op and gained a lot back. But I guess that is due to dietary desires of the person vs wanting to remain healthy. I hope that is the reasoning behind it. Very nervous about pre op tomorrow. I really want this to work for me. So far I haven't had any issues with tricare prime. Therefore I'm happy about that and I hope it remains that way.

Tricare seems to have different standards all around. They were able to go through a year of history and pull my 6 appointments. So at that point I just had to do what the dr asked which by the grace of God the base hospital appointments lined up like clock work (which honestly scared me). My longest wait was my surgeons date for surgery! Just keep the faith and know that the right time is coming for you! I wish you the best of luck with it all!!!

try adding shredded cheese to your eggs and a Tad of milk and butter. should help. remember we are allowed small amounts of fats.

My surgeon said never to eat more than 1,000 calories per day. He also suggested that no meal should ever exceed 300 calories and that no snack should ever exceed 100 calories. His instruction was to eat only if hungry and to transition to a maximum of three meals a day, preferably two, and a maximum of 3 Snacks per day. No alcohol. No caffeine. My surgeon has never been obese and follows this diet himself. He had no body fat. He practices what he says. I am trying to follow his advice for long-term success. He told me that RNY is the best procedure for maintaining long-term weight loss. I trust his advice, particularly because he follows it himself. I am 2.5 weeks post op and battle low energy. I am forcing myself to walk long distances. I love having the restriction in my stomach. I am very grateful for this surgery.

I'm right there with ya! My hubby's best friend's girlfriend had a RNY several years ago, and has managed to go back to her old habits! She eats huge portions of any and every thing, drinks, drinks beverages loaded with caffeine, smokes, and takes pleasure in lecturing me on what I should or should not eat or do! She is now much heavier than she once was, and is back on meds for high blood pressure and diabetes! Makes me pity her....
