  1. @ryan I cannot say with utmost certainty why MOST people are put on liquids after rny, but I know the complications I faced during and after the rny made it imperative to have liquids (several feet of small intestine and several inches of bowel were removed during my procedure) plus it helps to keep you hydrated which is a huge concern at first...? @paul I am already drooling! I JUST got approved for puree diet today and picked up some baby food on the way home, potato broccoli & cheese casserole AND banana graham pie! SO EXCITED!! oh and i picked up some strawberry Protein supplement and was finally able to mix in some puree blueberries....HEAVEN!!
  2. That is what all the education I have received has said, as of day 30 I have lost 33lbs...we shall see what the next 60 shall prove (I am also adhering to the VERY strict meal and exercise planner provided by the weight loss clinic, in addition to ensuring FULL protein and water intake...)
  3. Thanks SO much everyone, it is hard to get words of praise or encouragement in my daily as I find many people are jealous or prejudice against wls, but I AM proud and I AM so glad to FINALLY be seeing results, and as soon as the surgery pain subsides I will be VERY HAPPY to (hopefully) suffer less of the symptoms of fibro and cfs!! IT WORKS IF YOU WORK IT! SO WORK IT! YOU'RE WORTH IT!!
  4. I know I counted my 25lbs weight loss (from optifast 21 day liquid diet) as pre-op, but like someone else on here said, EVERY pound lost is a challenge accepted and won!! As it stands I am currently losing approx one pound a day (as is expected for the first 0-3 months)
  5. June 14 2010-450lbs June 14 2011-375lbs July 19 2012-366lbs (start Optifast 21days) August 9 2012-344lbs (roux-en-y) August 15 2012-333lbs (one week post op) Looove watching those numbers shrink!!
  6. Thanks everyone, it is exactly what y'all said, the way I am sitting during the day/sleeping flat all night. ...and/or gas lol Feeling a lot better today
  7. Hi all, I am 5 days post-op and have been home for 3 days. I started having very bad back pain (almost like back labour) anyone have this too or know if it could be gas pain or surgery related? I did have several feet of intestine removed and several inches of bowel also removed....anyone got info/advice?!?!?
  8. While I am only 5 days post op all I can think is after having done this much hard work and going through this much pain you/your body deserve to be healthy once and for all! Indulgences can be a great motivator for staying ON the wagon, but if you have guilt afterwards that is a good sign of over indulgence! Did you keep any pre-surgery clothing? Or pictures? Take at good look at them an decide of the food is worth the risk of losing all that progress :/ Good luck! The strength is within you, just need to realize your potential!!!!
  9. Yeah, I have been "walking" in my apt and laying in bed with my legs up but only little bubbles escape even though I feel HUGE gurgles in there, and when I do walk I feel it pushing on my insides. Just so exhausted from the pain, and the constant eating/drinking/pills... How Long Does This Stage Last??!!
  10. Sucks, the first fat to go is face (awesome) and then boobs I am in the same boat, I finally hit a nice full D after having my daughter and my partner can already see my boobs sagging :( I have looked into spanxs bras, they are pricey but seem to be the best option for my body/future body type
  11. I did the optifast900 liquid diet for 21 days pre-op had the roux-en-y gastric bypass on thurs aug9 and was sent home aug11 (far too soon I felt) but I am home now and doing fairly well, the gas pain is constant and the incision pain is only really bad getting in or out of bed. I am so blessed to have my partner doing everything to help me out (lifts, cleaning, shopping ect) and our daughter is with my parents for the rest of the week also. I just the gas pain would ease up a bit, I have only passed a small amount a couple times...any recommendations for natural pain relief??
  12. It could be as simple as not having enough fluids, do you use a cpap/bipap? I do and even with the humidity set top notch I still have a horrible sore throat/dry nose. Maybe try sipping some skim milk as it will help coat with thin mucous? Good luck!!
