  1. Melonpie... Yes she is a royal bitch but she did soften up a bit once she realized I was serious. Dr McCloskys staff has been pretty good. How long did it take you to get a date after being approved?
  2. So was I. They said it could take two weeks to find out. Ugh!! I'll be batty!
  3. I have not heard about the prepay for exercise classes. I know my hospital has them and support groups but they are optional. I am too calling today about my submittal. Really hoping today is the day!!
  4. That's wonderful!! I'm happy for you and your daughter. It makes this all worth it!
  5. I hear you! We are in the drifting boat together. :-).
  6. I here you! My work is the same way. The big VP at one meeting passed out an article on why you are fat to the attendees. I was mortified. Anyway, then all the food was cream based/fried/processed. WTH! At least there were veggie options but most places lace them with butter. Heck those green Beans on your menu scare me. With the rest of the menu being what it is I bet those little suckers are cooked in bacon fat! I have learned to always have Protein bars with me. BTW, the fruit pizza cracks me up. I bet they think that is the healthy option for you.
  7. In most cases, you can take a 'disability' day if you need it for a Dr. appointment or a pre-op 'cleansing' situation. Your Dr would have to included this on your paperwork. If not, a lot of comapnies/states will start by counting the day of your surgery. Good luck!
  8. Best wishes and prayers!!
  9. I'm in the approval process as well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and the red dress!!
  10. Yea!!!! That's so awesome
  11. Welcome and we will keep our fingers crossed for you?
  12. Wow you look fab!! You just made me so happy. Our start stats are almost identical. Thanks for the hope!! And good luck.
  13. I'm in PGH too. Who's your doctor?
  14. Oh no! :-) I quoted eeyoregirl70 for a congrats! I would love 11-8 as my date but still waiting. Sorry for the confusion!
  15. I'm so happy for you!!!
  16. OH I HEAR YOU! I am ALWAYS hungry for no reason most of the time. I am SO hoping the pouch helps control the hunger and least until I can get a grip on it. At least I can't eat as much and I am terrified about stretching it out. To get through the preop I have been on appetite suppressants. Sad huh?? But I only was losing about a pound a month and following the diet plan. I couldn't risk accidently eating a piece of pizza and gaining it back. lol Hang in there!!! WE CAN DO THIS!!
  17. WOW You look great!!!! I'm so happy for you!
  18. Hello All, Long time no blog! I have been traveling a lot lately for work but I managed to get in my pre-op testing and I am waiting for the insurance submittal. Let me tell you, it all has tried my patience. My surgeon's team has been really great but the nutritionist piece was a nightmare. Under staffed and they are mean! The office staff treats me like I have the plague and I have read about how others have been treated. So I have some words to share. Dear Nutritionists, PCP's and others involved in this process: Don't get me wrong, I get that people start this process and think it is a magic pill or quick fix as the media portrays it, but I do not. I have studied and read and read and read books, websites, blogs, etc. I have a friend who has been through RNY WLS. I know you do not know this about me but please don't judge me. Please try to get to know me and treat me like I have feelings. I am SCARED! I am so scared it makes me shake. This is life altering. We NEED your help and your compassion. I am a patient and human being. I have been picked on, ignored and belittled my whole life for my weight. I want you to be able to answer my questions and not look at me with disgust. I NEED this surgery. I really have tried to lose weight and I need help. It took everything I have to walk in the seminar that day. I had to ADMIT I was Morbidly Obese. Don't get mad when we are desperate for our medical records. We are clinging to a string of hope and terrified that we will be denied. Oh and it is not funny. It is not 'elective surgery' to us. We just want to be happy and healthy. We want to start our lives and not be and feel humiliated on planes, in amusement parks, at the movies, on buses....... We don't want to be the fat person in the room or the fat friend anymore. Contrary to popular belief, WE WANT TO BE IN CONTROL. You are our life line. Every day that passes we die a little inside. Please remember this the next time you dismiss me or my community. Signed, The Scared Fat Girl
