  1. Omg! Lol, I was just talking to my husband about being paranoid that I was drinking too much too fast & stretching my pouch out. I haven't had much trouble with food at all. Except for Protein powder making me feel sick. I'm not even 2 weeks out yet & I already ate the topping off of a slice of pizza with no trouble. I'm still paranoid though. Afraid that this ease will get me into trouble. My Left side incision is barely noticeable. It looks like a little scratch. O have had problems with pain on that side but during the surgery they accidentally cut something they shouldn't have. Even that pain is going away. I haven't needed pain killers since about day 4. I do have 1 incision that is right where all my waistbands hit & it popped open & was bleeding pretty heavy earlier. New Life Started 07/24/12
  2. It's actually harder to trigger dumping syndrome than you think. It's like the boogey man for us wls people. You most likely won't trigger it with sweet tea, you'll trigger with things like cake, ice cream, brownies. Basically things that are obviously high in fatty oils and sugar. And even if you do eat those foods, only 50% of us will actually succumb to dumping. More often than not, you'll just vomit and be done with it. Full blown dumping is kind of rare. Gatorade is good for dehydration because it is packed full of electrolytes. It is designed for athletes whose bodies are under a lot of stress (which ours are as well) the high sugar in it triggers your body to process it faster. If you are dehydrated, your blood sugars tend to run lower. (unless you're diabetic) New Life Started 07/24/12
  3. Thanks DLCoggin. As for my earlier post. Today is the first day I have used the Protein powder. I mixed it with my morning Protein shake. BAD idea. It was like drinking chocolate flavored glue. Will not be doing that again. I am determined to get my protein in come hell or high Water though. I want to lose the weight but not my muscles. I was overwhelmed and disheartened this morning. I'm usually not such a quitter. New Life Started 07/24/12

  6. I agree, I feel like crap all the time. Trying though, keep trying. That's all you can do. I can't even think straight I feel so drained. Popsicles and ice are my saving Grace. Protein powder is disgusting. New Life Started 07/24/12

  9. I have tricare west also. Your initial approval is for the consult. You will have to have a psych evaluation. Then your surgeon will request an approval from tricare for the surgery. From my consult it took 3 weeks but I already had the psych eval & 6 months monitored diet & exercise. & here I am, 1 week post op. New Life Started 07/24/12

  16. I've been having a stabbing pain in my left side incision site. It had gone away but came back with a vengeance day before yesterday. Idk if It's related to trying to do too much or a staple pulling or what. I haven't called my Dr. Because I have an appt next week, its not red, warm, or streaking so I will wait. I'm only 1 week post op. New Life Started 07/24/12

  21. I'm in the full liquid stage, I just ate a little under half a cup of pudding. Is that too much? I can't tell when.I have anything in my stomach. Everyone keeps saying I will know but I really haven't felt full or anything for.that matter. So, I am asking, as a general rule, how much should I be "eating". I'm paranoid that I'm going to screw my second.chance up. I think I'm doing ok then my husband pops in with "isnt that too much?" I don't know and my paranoia is driving me batty. 24. My husband is driving me crazy. He knows what I'm going through, he's been to all my appointments. He has read all my diet information. I have had nothing of any nutritional value for 2 weeks. Even if my stomach isn't physically hungry, my body is starving. All my husband talks about is food. We're on the phone talking about registering our kids for school and he pops in "ooh, can it wait, I'm gonna make me some eggs.... And some cheese toast that looks good." I've asked him several times to stop but he just says "i love you" and blows me off. I literally walked to my moms house. She's had a bypass & understands the need to not have food thrown in my face every time I turn around. Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using RNYTalk
