Why RNY and not the sleeve?
I went in with an open mind. I knew the band was out for me due to rhuematoid arthritis, but between the sleeve and rny I really trusted my docs experience and knowledge. With rny he said there was more long term data to support long term success. I liked the malabsorption aspect because I am still on steroids daily and my concern was that I was still going to be hungry all the time. I figured if I am I can still lose weight because my body will not get all the calories.

Regretting my choice
- Regretting my choice
First I will say been there done that!! One month post op I was crying in my docs office and hated every minute of everyday. I hated hearing just wait it will get better. However trust me this saying is true! If you follow the plan you will lose the weight. Remover we are all different and our bodies are different. Couple of suggestions for you: Your body is still in shock it needs time to adjust to everything. Make sure you are getting your Protein and Water in. Stay on target with your exercise Stop weighing yourself all the time - trust me I know this is hard. Finally every time I have had a stall I still lost inches. Keep your spirits high the weight will come off!!- Fmla...question
I don't believe they can force you to file FMLA if you are using vacation time.- Fmla...question
If you truly think you will have issues with this boss. Please think about it and then rethink about it. Speak with your doctor and family members. Read up on it. If you have questions please don't hesitate to send me a message.- Fmla...question
If you are going to be out for any length of time use to medical issues it will qualify for FMLA. You need to get the forms from your hr person and have your doc fill them out.- Fmla...question
FMLA can be a double edge sword in my experience. It protects your job and when you take off due to illness it allows you to do so no questions asked. Keep in mind there is a possibility that you have some issues post op. the other edge is that they do put what is going on with you and I have found that it can cause issues. I have rhuematoid arthitis and have had to go on FMLA a few times. Each time I have in some ways regretted it. It is true it goes to your HR person, but usually they let the supervisor know what is going on. I have had issues with gossip and resentment for having to take off. At this point I will not file FMLA unless I absolutely have to.- How long with this stall?

That sounds like what I went through. The very thought of food and my stomach would do flops. Doc gave me meds for it and it slowly to better. I never had a stricture. My doc said when some people lose the weight their body release certain hormones that will cause the extreme nausea.- Unable to exercise after Gastric Bypass RNY
Look into gentle yoga and water aerobics.- Salad Anyone?
I eat salad at least 2-3 times a week. I would say go slow. I found that creamy dressings hurt and made me sick, but vingerettes were fine- Possible to dump on pain meds?
I would call your doctor. About the symptoms and for the nausea with taking the vitamins. Every doc is different, but my first week was nothing but drink your water and if you feel up to it some soup broth.- Such a gross question, but I need to ask.... (nasal drip)
That is a question for your doctor.- Possible to dump on pain meds?
When did you have surgery?- Possible to dump on pain meds?
When I took the liquid pain meds I always got a rush feeling. Always call your doctor and let them know.- Possible to dump on pain meds?
I think it is a reaction to the pain meds. I doubt it is dumping.- Gallbladderproblems
Well it was easier than the bypass. I had issues with the hospital I went to, but the actual surgery was easy. I was playing soccer a week later.- Eggs
I stay away from eggs as it was the first food I tried as a solid. I tried to eat them too soon after surgery and they all came up. Kind puts you of eggs for a while.- Question? After you eat does your stomach hurt?
Mine lasted about two months. I started on zofran, but it did not work for me and he switched me to phenergan. That worked. I would drink the liquid and eat about 20 min later.- Ready to SHOCK ya!
I am thinking the lack of replies from her would indicate he was pleasantly surprised!- Question? After you eat does your stomach hurt?
Mine hit at about 6 weeks. Call your doctor there are meds he can give you to help you trough this time. You don't want to get dehydrated or sick from lack of nutrition.- New To This
Well you came to the right place for support. We have all been through it and have come out the other side. Support of family is a key element to this, and although they may not truly understand everything. If are supportive then that is all that matters. You will have set backs, but always keep in mind it took years to get where you are today and it will take time to lose it. Please don't compare yourself to others and their weight loss journey. We are all very different and our bodies react to things differently. Just know that sticking with the program will cause you to lose weight. Also your fear of not wanting to move to new foods will go away. You will find that most people can eat what they want, but in much much smaller portions. It will take your new pouch some time to get use to things, and hopefully by then you are making the right food choices. This journey is more mental than physical. The physical part takes care of itself. If you eat the wrong thing your body will punish you. However it is hard to retrain our brains. When you struggle with that post something on the post op board and you will find the support you need. Remember we have all been through it. Vitamins, Protein and Water are your new goals in life and if you succeed at those three things you will do great. My last bit of advice is to dream! Dream about your new size and what you will do when you get there. I am not talking only about the physical side of things, but also careers, friends, relationships. It has been such a great 8 months for me. I have been on a long roller coaster, but I am finally seeing the positive results and it is great.- Pre-op liquid hell
Get used to it because that is life after RNY. I usually eat under 1000 a day. The days I play sports or work out are the times it really show up. I am burning more calories than I take it. Just eat what your doctor lays out in their plan and everything will work out. - Regretting my choice
