  1. I agree with you Kim- the media controls us all! But, you have to be secure enough in yourself to care more about your health than what people "think" about you. My grandfather doesn't approve of the surgery- but he sure as hell didn't approve of my being a big fat a**. He'd rather see me alive than be worried about me taking the "easy" way out. I have no problem telling people what I'm doing. If they really are ashamed of me taking the "easy" way out, then I know they were the same people thinking "Why doesn't she DO something about her weight?" I did & it's working!!
  2. It was 3.5 weeks before I went back to work because I am teacher and did it over winter break. I am so glad that I had all this time! I felt good enough to go back after about 1.5 weeks, but it would have been somewhat difficult.
  3. Man, I wish I hadn't had that muscle pain- it was horrible!
  4. I started out with a 1/4 cup of egg beaters with a little low fat velveeta melted on top. They taste awesome to me. You just cook it in the microwave and it is so quick and simple.
  5. I hated orlistat! I had to wear a huge tampon to protect my pants and my office chair from orange leakage! TMI!
  6. I gotta tell you I would much prefer this to what usually happens to me. I used to go to a taco place with my family and order a value meal. Then they would promptly order a taco. That's it. They'd eat the whole taco, but I mean come on! A taco? Now it's AWESOME to eat a half a taco. So much cheaper, too. I love eating at lunch with all the other faculty & I only eat my half a cup of food or half of a slimfast. It makes me feel great! Whooorah!
  7. I found out that I have this before surgery. Did anybody else have this and get treatment for it? The Dr says the treatment is 6 weeks long. I wonder if there are a lot of side effects? Anyone know? They figured this out from a test where I drank a really sweet drink and then blew into a bag.
  8. Absolutely, any decent doctor won't approve you for surgery until you have all of these things tested if indicated. I was even tested for H Pylori and I have to start treatment for it because it came out positive! I didn't even know it existed before the test!
  9. I don't think you could do it for very long without the band. You would feel like you were starving. After the band it's so much more comfortable because you no longer feel the crazy almost sick feeling of being so hungry.
  10. I sat in a really clean bathtub with about 3 inches of water...not touching my scars after about a week. I just had to have a bath!
  11. This happened to me. The pain almost went away and then I accidently twisted way too fast. Then the pain was really bad for about 3 days. Now it's completely gone. I still can't sleep on my port side though...I can feel it under the skin when I do that...like the princess and the pea, only it's the princess and the port! You are still healing...give it some more time. Get some Extra Strength Tylenol- it works pretty well.
  12. I have a Proform elliptical that I got from Sears. I had problems getting it together- but they came out and fixed it for free. I love it & It was only like $350. I have had it for 6 years and it's still great. My husband loves it too! It is very basic- if I had more money maybe I would get a fancier model. But since I'm in my house with TV and Stereo- I figure I don't really need tose plug ins. It monitors only the basics, but that is good enough I spose.
  13. Change the Channel. I also had this problem during the liquid stage. I felt very angry at the world for getting to eat this stuff! When you get to mushies you'll feel MUCH better. It is just a sort of withdrawal from yummy BAD fast food life. It'll be okay! Just drink something and change the channel....fast.
  14. I am really bad about excercising, but I know I have to get started with it now. Do you guys exercise at home, belong to a gym, go running? Do you love to exercise now? I think I am actually weaker after the surgery, so I HAVE to get with it!
  15. I think my boobs are shrinking....
  16. Just wondering if anybody goes to buffet style restaurants anymore. It seems like a waste of money....but I love Chinese food. What do you do? Just curious!
  17. Hi! Thanks for everyone who answered. I wanted to put an update in case someone else has this problem and is worried. My period is completely over now...so I guess I just had an unusually heavy period on my own that took it's normal course and is over now. HOLY HECK! That's really awesome actually...my first period on my own in 9 years! I'll just hope that it comes again next month...isn't it weird to wish for your period????
  18. Don't worry Apple- when you look back on this process after the band you won't believe it went so fast! I started mid July and didn't get banded until 3 weeks ago. As I was going into surgery I was thinking...whoa that was fast, wait a sec! Even though I had to do three months of "counseling" for binge eating- that is a bunch of BS I'll tell you! Breath deeply!
  19. My doctor said that overeating after the band can cause a hiatal hernia. I had one fixed during the surgery and hope I don't get it again! It is hard with no restriction to eat tiny portions.
  20. YEY! Good job & Good Luck! Have a chicken broth for me at midnight!
  21. Longhorn- where did you get that graph? I want to use that too! I love it...
  22. Thanks Aza- It's good to hear that this happened to someone else! I know it is because of my hormones. The only thing I am afraid of is getting anemic, but since I am taking bariatric vitamins with 100% iron I think I'll be ok. I think I've gotten spoiled by my PCOS and having extremely light periods for SO long. I haven't had to by tampons or pads or anything for like two years before this. I had period but they were so light I didn't need protection for them.
  23. I'm not sure if you are a fertile female, but I wish they had let me know that the surgery can make you have your period & the blood thinner can make your period come on heavy in the operating room! It was a little embarassing to be cleaned up afterward!
  24. You are going to have the band for the rest of your life. It is not a big deal in the end if the surgery has to be postponed a week or two. I would call and ask the nurse at the office if it is okay or if you should postpone. Your health is the important thing here!
