If your marriage isnt strong before surgery.....it wont be after surgery! Things change when your husband sees you making positive changes, and it will cause issues if he doesnt support you and your efforts. I am happy to say my husband and I discussed the surgery and changes before I had surgery....and we had a clear understanding of my reasons for doing it, and that I dont intend to replace him or our life together....I just wanna be able to participate in our life and live long enough to see our kids grow up!

GastricJoy got a reaction from Cheryl Barfoot in When To Buy New Underwear / Panties
My husband has been laughing at me because I have lost 70 pounds and have not bought any.
He said it looks like I gotta load going on down there. He is very supportive but silly at the same time.

I like the saying the lady from the world according to egg face uses... premium pouch space is for Protein. Limit the carbs... it does not help with weight loss at all. Cravings are all in the mind. Do not let eating consume your mind like it has done to so many of us in the past.

GastricJoy got a reaction from babygirl901 in Please Don't Judge
No judging from me. I think we all have cravings. If I want a pieceof chocolate I have it. Not a whole bag or a whole bar.
Try not to have it around. I usually have to go out and get it making me either change my mind, or when I get to the store grab some grapes which is my go to snack.< /p>
But we can have to much of anything not just chocolate. I sometimes go overboard with grapes which is just as bad.

GastricJoy reacted to kristy3k in Hey Fat Girl
Saw this posted on the forums on myfitness pal.... had to share.
I want to preface this with the fact that I did not write this, I am however the Fat Girl and this blog made me tear up, because it hit home!
(This is a blog entry from flintland.blogspot.com)
Hey, Fat Girl.
Yes, you. The one feigning to not see me when we cross paths on the
running track. The one not even wearing sports gear, breathing heavy.
You’re slow, you breathe hard and your efforts at moving forward make
you cringe.
You cling shyly to the furthest corridor, sometimes making larger loops
on the gravel ring by the track just so you’re not on it. You sweat so
much that your hair is all wet. You rarely stay for more than 20 minutes
at a time, and you look exhausted when you leave to go back home. You
never talk to anyone. I’ve got something I’d like to say to you.
You are awesome.
If you’d look me in the eye only for an instant, you would notice the
reverence and respect I have for you. The adventure you have started is
tremendous; it leads to a better health, to renewed confidence and to a
brand new kind of freedom. The gifts you will receive from running will
far exceed the gigantic effort it takes you to show up here, to face
your fears and to bravely set yourself in motion, in front of others.
You have already begun your transformation. You no longer accept this
physical state of numbness and passivity. You have taken a difficult
decision, but one that holds so much promise. Every hard breath you take
is actually a tad easier than the one before, and every step is ever so
slightly lighter. Each push forward leaves the former person you were
in your wake, creating room for an improved version, one that is
stronger, healthier and forward-looking, one who knows that anything is
possible.
You’re a hero to me. And, if you’d take off the blaring headphones and
put your head up for more than a second or two, you would notice that
the other runners you cross, the ones that probably make you feel so
inadequate, stare in awe at your determination. They, of all people,
know best where you are coming from. They heard the resolutions of so
many others, who vowed to pick up running and improve their health,
“starting next week”. Yet, it is YOU who runs alongside, who digs from
deep inside to find the strength to come here, and to come back again.
You are a runner, and no one can take that away from you. You are
relentlessly moving forward. You are stronger than even you think, and
you are about to be amazed by what you can do. One day, very soon, maybe
tomorrow, you’ll step outside and marvel at your capabilities. You will
not believe your own body, you will realize that you can do this. And a
new horizon will open up for you. You are a true inspiration.
I bow to you

GastricJoy reacted to my3stars in What Makes People Gain Weight Back?
Well I cannot speak for others, I can only share my experience. I had RNY 8 years ago and lost a total of 170lbs. Kept that off until my 6th year and then slowly began gaining which led to a 53lb gain. At this point when i saw my surgeon he ran a series of tests and they discovered my anastomosis was dilated. Which means my pouch which was not stretched was emptying out quicker causing me to be hungry sooner. Although this is partially to blame i know that half of it was choices i had made but i definitely knew not all of it was my fault. Now i consider myself a success because i did manage to keep 117lbs off which in itself is amazing to me! Not everything is people not following the rules in my case it was a mechanical situation that can happen to anyone over time. Just imagine this tool we are given no longer works as it originally should and we no longer have the same restrictions how would some of us do? It is easy to say oh u did not follow the rules but that was not entirely the case with me. That is why I chose to have a revision to correct my tool and continue to enjoy the great health this surgery has afforded me. Good luck on your journey and as long as you follow your doctors rules u should be a okay!

GastricJoy got a reaction from Cheryl Barfoot in 4 Months Out And Pregnant
Ok this is crazy. I went to the er because I had a abscess under my arm. I got up to pee and they said use a cup. Then they told me I was pregnant. And no abscess It ended up being a lymph nod.
I was having this hungry feeling and was wanting chili everyday.
This was Friday night 10/5 and I am only 4 months out.
Congratulations to us.
