  1. All they can do is to Just keep doing the dialation procedures. I just saw my dr and they are letting me go home today. He said my esophohas was so narrow they couldn't even get the endoscope down. They had to really dilate me and they did a brushing to get rid of some scar tissue. I was actually able to swallow solid food last night for the first time since my surgery. I just hope it lasts this time. I will have the procedure again in three weeks.
  2. Wow....so sorry to hear that. That's awful!
  3. I so hear you! I just got back to my room. They did the dialation and did a scraping of my esophagus and stomach to get rid of More scar tissue about an hour ago. I also have strictures in my stomach and in my esophogas. My doctor also found a hernia this time, It just keeps getting better. I don't remember them saying any of these complications when I was going through the process. I'm ready to get this all past me. Angela are you feeling any better since the last procedure? I hope so!
  4. In the hospital again for dehydration and to have the endoscopy dialation once again. So ready to be able to eat and drink. I am 5 weeks post op and have yet been able to eat anything other than liquids. If you combine that with the 2 weeks of liquids per op that's 7 weeks of no food...only liquids. I have such buyers remorse right now. Sorry guys just venting.....I know one day I will look back and be glad I had this surgery..lout right now it just sucks.
  5. I had mine done in Fayetteville nc
  6. I too have diabetes, sleep apnea, and a heart condition called prolong qt syndrome. Since my surgery, my diabetes has gone into remission. The doc says it appears that my blood sugar is that of a normal person. Before meals it runs about 80 to 90 and raises to 110 after meals. It is such a relief to not have to worry about the diabetes anymore. Before my blood sugar could get over 200 even on a strict diet and stay that way for hours after. I had my surgery April 3rd...so I haven't had my a1c rechecked yet. I am curious to see how much better it is. This is the main reason I had the surgery...so the relief of not having to deal with it anymore ...not having to take anything for it anymore....is worth it's weight in gold. In fact my doc said after another month of normal sugars...I will not have to check my sugars any, ore. Yay! Good luck and hope this helped.
  7. Congrats....that's awesome
  8. I will defiantly have to try it! My gym offers it a few times a week...I'm just afraid that I'm not going to catch on fast enough and look silly. Guess I need to get over that.
  9. Day 23 for me and I have lost 20 lbs. yay!
  10. Wow...that sucks. I defiantly feel your frustration. I am still in the hospital. After a ton of Iv fluids I am feeling a lot better. they did An upper gi this morning and found strictures in my pouch and esophagus so it's no wonder I have been having such a hard time swallowing even Water. The dr rigorously dilated my pouch and esophagus to get rid of the scar tissue and said I may have to have it redone in a few weeks. Had two more swallow tests and the radiation dr said my pouch looks normal now, hopefully that fixed it and I can finally eat and drink again. I just want to feel normal again. 4 weeks of barely drinking and not eating has driven me crazy. I've been so snappy at my family and friends and I do not really mean to be...but it's frustrating not being able to keep even water down. I keep telling everyone not to take my bad mood personally...but that seems to go in one ear and right out the other, Anyways....I'm just hoping this did the trick and I can move on with my recovery! Best wishes to you!!
  11. Well I ended up in the hospital today due to dehydration. I haven't been able to keep down food or water. I will have a swallow test today and then an upper gi tomorrow. Looks like I will be here for a couple days.
  12. Take it a day at a time. I called my doc today and have an appt for Wednesday afternoon. Yay...hopefully it won't take long to schedule the endoscopies.
  13. I will! Are you still feeling better?
  14. That's awesome....gives me hope. I've got to call the dr Monday to inform them the mess didn't work so they can schedule an endoscopy.
  15. That's awesome. I hope they will be able to do that for me!
  16. Yeah I get the feeling of it after just a sip of anything or one bite food no matter how good I chew. Geez 2 endoscopes. That's great!
  17. I haven't had the upper gi yet. That's the next step if the meds don't work. you have already had an upper GI? Did it not work? Geez.....I don't know how much longer I can go on just broth....I'm developing a food aversion to broth and shakes. It's been 5 weeks on them for me.
  18. I am almost 4 weeks post op and down 18 lbs. I am doing 30 mins on the elliptical and then free weight exercises for my arms. I plan to add more weight lifting exercises once the doc gives me the okay in a few weeks. I am doing this four days a week. I would like to try some Zumba classes. They sound like fun.
  19. I am almost 4 weeks post op and ever since I was given the ok to go to soft foods I have had this problem. I get that feeling of food stuck in my throat and upper chest region. it feels like it is just sitting there. I called the doc and they said it could be from inflammation from the pouch...so they prescribed me omeprazol (I know I didn't spell that right). Ive been taking 2 a day for the last 3 days and tomorrow I start taking it once a day. Doc said that if it doesn't help than it may be a stricture from where the stomach healed too good and it pulls at the esophagus and opening of the stomach making it hard to swallow. He said they fix that by doing an upper gi where they put an endoscope down the throat and stretch out the opening of the stomach slightly allowing the esophagus to return to normal. I have had no improvement...all I know is that I'm sick of that feeling and I'm tired of just broth and Protein drinks. If you google stomach strictures you can get more info. Hope that helps some.
