  1. Good Luck to you and be sure to let us know how you're doing. Hopefully I'll be about a week behind you...keeping my fingers crossed. I, too, have never had surgery and it's kinda scary. I'm sure we'll both do fine though!
  2. Congratulations!! I can't wait for the day when I can say I've lost 50 lbs!! Sounds like you are doing great with exercise too....I'm really concerned about that part. Not sure how much i'll be able to do with my back problems. I'm hoping that once the weight starts coming off, the back will improve. I love hearing people's success stories..they are such an inspiration!
  3. Girl! Get on top!
  4. The nutritional class today was very informative. There were four other people there besides me..all getting the sleeve. I got a lot of good information including what I need to do beforehand to prepare..what to bring with me...what to expect in the hospital, what to expect after the surgery, what meds they send you home with scripts for, the post-op diet, etc. It's really becoming real!
  5. I wish he'd make up his mind! He's scared. I get that. He's worried I won't wake up from surgery. He's worried something is going to go wrong. He's worried about a million different things. I get all that..but he's driving me CRAZY! It's like being on a roller coaster! I tried to reassure him that my PCP would not have given me clearance for surgery if she didn't think I was healthy enough to undergo surgery and survive it. *practicing deep breathing techniques*
  6. I just got the results of my sleep study the other day and I have mild obstructive sleep apnea. They want me to use a CPAP machine but I said I'd rather wait and see if it goes away after surgery. I've been dealing with it for a couple of years now (that's when it started) I figure a few more months won't matter.
  7. Thanks to both of you! I've basically got a three day window to have the surgery week after next. Either that wednesday, thursday, or friday. I sure hope it works cause I'm getting sick and tired of this PrescriptFit pre-op diet...
  8. Congratulations! That's great loss for being a lightweight!
  9. Tiff....just curious but why did you not use the protein shakes/drinks? Is it just that you don't care for them?
  10. All of my pre-op stuff has been done. I got the letter of clearance from my PCP. I got the results of my sleep study and yes I have sleep apnea but I'm not going to use a machine because I think it will go away pretty soon after surgery. I have my nutritional class this Thursday morning where they will give me the post-op plan. I have my pre-op appointment scheduled for next Wednesday morning. She told me surgery is usually scheduled somewhere around 7-10 days after the pre-op. I have a small window there for the last week in April to get it done. If I can't get it scheduled that week, I'm going to have to push it back to the end of June... Please keep your fingers crossed for me that the stars and planets and whatever else align for me that I can get the surgery done in that small window! I'm sick and tired of this pre-op diet and want to get on with my new life!
  11. welcome aboard! I'm just waiting on a date....sigh.
  12. I personally don't think the LapBand is a good choice. Of course everybody has differing opinions. There are way too many problems associated with it with a very high rate of having to have a repeat surgery to either fix it or remove it for me to be comfortable with it. The having to go back and have fills and unfills is just absolutely not for me. When I started researching my options, I knew the sleeve was the perfect option for me. My insurance policy does not pay for WLS ever so I'm self paying and I got my clearance from my PCP today so I'm just waiting for a date. Should be sleeved in a couple of weeks!
  13. Holy crap! (no pun intended) 20 gallons?? ok..that does NOT sound relaxing or pleasant at all. I don't know that I buy that whole "old matter stuck in there". But hey....if you decide to do it, you can let us know how it all comes out. (pun intended!) LOL!
  14. How is that any different from an enema?
  15. Congratulations!! Best of luck to you!
  16. Jeanine, Did you get my private message response to you??
  17. Sorry to butt in on this thread, but Jeanine, did you get my private message response to you?
  18. Hi there...in which direction do you live 45 minutes outside of BR? I'm in Mandeville and Dr. French will be my surgeon. I'm cash pay also as any type of WLS is an exclusion on my policy and his "low risk" cash price is $13,600.
  19. ok this might be a silly question...but did your surgeon give you specific guidelines to follow pre-op and you just decided on your own you could handle it?
  20. Maybe try sitting down to eat in a different spot than your normal place. Bring your food to the table or wherever and don't bring a drink. After you eat, get up and then get your drink or wait until however long you're supposed to wait after eating before putting your drink nearby you again and then resume your sipping.
