April 2014 sleevers
Day 3, Still sore...lost 12 lbs and I'm just gettin home from the hospital. They also repaired a hernia tho. I don't like this drain that I have to measure myself and the shots to prevent blood clots that I have to shoot in myself but thank goodness for minimal gas pains and no nausea or vomiting. I can drink just fine but I'm taking small sips often. I feel much better today than 2 days ago. My mom is loving her new bribery videos...smh.

So, this is it....in less than 12 hours, it's my turn!
Hey tangy, doin ok, No pain from incisions just the drain. No problems drinking....been walking ok, breathing in the spirometer ok, had a lil has pain but nothing too bad, hurts to cough or hiccup but I'm doin both, passed the leak test. Gettin prepped for a 2:00 discharge. First day was nothing but I'm mad out of sleep. Day 2 got better and today, day 3 much better, walked the whole ward.

Thanks so much everyone. I faced a lot of adversity today. I was just so excited I told a few coworkers on the way out the door, last time I did that, I got a heap of negativity and being new to the idea, it kinda brought me down but months later and 1000's of posts later, I feel 100% confident and today's negativity never changed my smile. I'm nervous, not afraid and I will be successful even tho I know the possible complications. Thanks for your prayers...i'm going to attempt some kinda sleep...lol, Gn.

I've waiting for this moment for so long....not so patiently I might add and now it's here. I have no fears as I am not alone, He walks with me. I feel informed, aware and supported to the fullest therefore my mind is made up. I choose to make the rest of my life, the best of my life!!! I can't wait to tell my success story...

Yay. Doing the Happy Dance!
Congrats to you! I know the feeling, I had a couple of pounds to lose before I can get my referral from my PCP. So here are some tips I've either used or heard to be helpful. There is one completely cheating way to go about it and that's ankle weights at the weigh in so u can just remove them when necessary. What I did was dance workouts so it was fun, then laxatives for the last 2 days before and liquid diet for 3 days before weigh in. In those 3 days I did eat a small salad on each day for lunch and that's it....lost 8 pounds in almost 4 days. Another friend used saran wrap on her body while working out to loose even more! Hope this helps, Good luck with it...

-
Do u ever wonder how people here eat such a perfect diet - all the time?
Nah don't feel that way. Express yourself but... just like you want to be excepted for how u choose to work your sleeve, it's best to accept that in others even if it opposes your beliefs. Hey I agree that one day I wanna let loose and feel free to do so, I just plan on maintaining for a while before I make small indulgences. But kudos to you, you've done a great job so far!!

You know you lost weight when
Haven't lost from the sleeve yet but my date is 4/23 and I have lost during my monitored diet and I say, when u finally have the energy to get up and do more... In the future, when I sit and my stomach doesn't take a seat in my lap...smh

Do u ever wonder how people here eat such a perfect diet - all the time?
I hear what you're saying but even if u choose to live differently, don't be a hater, just love ur choices and let others love theirs. I guess we realize we all got this way by bad habits so it just doesn't make sense to not change with our New bodies so we can care for it better. Those things u make sound so taboo are the perfect ingredients for a superior recovery and continued success with a new healthy body. If your overall goal is not health, just weight loss then you just don't have to work so hard. Lucky u and ur on ur way! But I've always wanted to be healthy and successful so I plan to follow at least the guildline rules as far as my personal goals are met. Good luck and better days to you...

4/23, Omgness, I'm in the final stretch and I can't believe the thoughts in my head...
Confession~ I've changed my mind for a millisecond here and there when I think about the amount of times I will have to make myself eat daily so I don't have issues that linger. It's hard reading users having the exact opposite. I feel it's a bit easier to cut down on food intake than to increase it and spread it out over time....it was just my habits. See, my Dr. thought this would be the best for me since I already have issues with early satiety and I hated to eat or drink anything cuz mentally it was just pounds on a plate or a cup to me. I could live this life just fine with a pill for meals. Now after 8 months of training, I'm better with 3 small meals with fruit, veggies and Water, instead of one large meal of anything just to say I ate and sugary juices cuz I hated water. I think stopping cigarettes helped those changes occur since I hated veggies and water until I quit 7 months ago. Now my tastes are different and I love those the most. I just hope it all works out for the best and fears diminish on the other side....4/23/14....this is it!!! #PureFearVenting

Missteps starting to add up
being preop, this is scary but I like to be preventative myself even if the dr's dont tell me how to be...which is why I love this site so much...my supply list was long but I feel totally prepared for all possibilities and comfort issues, thanks to previous patient's and who better to learn from. So I'm just here to learn more...sorry you're in pain and I hope you get some answers soon here or there with your doc at least.

Did any serious smokers cheat? Can you get this surgery if you smoked 1 week prior?
I have a friend who wants to do this surgery but couldn't find a way to stop smoking with me when I did back in September. She will be paying cash and wants to know if anyone had serious complications after surgery due to continued use. Or if you did continue to use and were ok at the hospital but later had complications due to the smoke. Please help, she's in dire need as she prepares for her wedding this Christmas. Thanks all..

Has anyone else ever had to pay 2 copays for their surgery?
Glad they told you ahead of time...but that's bad news to someone like me, last minute after I spent all my extra money toward preparing at home for the procedure. That's a lot to pay though, glad it all still worked out for you because if that was me, I woulda been heading to Mexico...lol.

Has anyone else ever had to pay 2 copays for their surgery?
Guess i'm just glad it's getting done now and that the office was so helpful in getting me approved with these great benefits while I still had them....as of May 1st, my plan changes, which would have changed my hospital and my surgeon to a place about 3 hours from me and my deductible starts over so I would have paid $1200, but luckily my boss pays half of that too. either way....YAAAAAY for today's victory!!
