I am limiting my carb intake because that has been working for me. I'm focusing on getting my Protein in and avoiding "slider" foods.
Like you said everybody has a different plan and once you have your surgery you'll see what works for you and your new tummy.

I am thinking Water retention..Just relax..I had to lose 20lbs before the doctor would even perform my surgery..The pre-diet is mainly to shrink your liver and if you followed it then you should be good..I would try all liquids until surgery..Good luck!

Wow! Can't believe it's almost time to go back to the OR. I have been considering this surgery since August of last year and had my first appointment in October. I am both thrilled and nervous to be taking this step, but after 15 years of being overweight and miserable, I know that this is the right thing to do. Doesn't make it easier, but at least I am certain. I had zero trouble with the pre op liquid diet. In fact, it helped me with a lot with the GI issues I have had over the past 3 years since my gallbladder came out. I have enjoyed reading everyone's stories on the forum, and will now endeavor to be a regular contributor. Best of luck to us all!

Yes...we all have some fears...I eat very little but I do try to get in the amount of Protein that the doctor recommends..I still do a Protein shake for Breakfast, then about 2.5 hrs. later I eat a low fat small round of cheese, then for lunch I eat either Soup or the chicken out of a chicken wrap, then around 2:30 I eat greek yogurt then for supper it is a small amount of meat (usually pork or chicken) and I try to eat some steamed vegetable but usually there is no room...Plus Water, Water, water...so you see it is very little..I have lost 53lbs of which 28lbs has been since surgery..It is a slow process but that is good because I want my skin to bounce back..NO MORE SURGERY!! LOL..I am feeling lots better but that has only been in the last 3 weeks...My energy has really picked up and I am more active than I have been in years..I had my surgery in Alabama...Hope this helps..

Preach it sister!!! So very true!! The weight does NOT fall off of you...I might see a pound here and there but I have never seen a sudden/dramatic drop!!! This is work! Watching what I eat and making sure I get up and move...Even when the scale looks like I have gained a pound I don't sweat it because I know my body is adjusting...And I do not weigh myself every day!!! I would freak out if I did that..We are all different and our bodies will react differently. Sounds like you have it figured out!!!

It occurs to me that a "stall" is not really a thing. I have been confused and upset by these "stalls" since the very first episode at 3 weeks.
But, as I read what you folks have to say, it dawns on me that it is EXPECTED, it is definitely part of the process. We need to stop even thinking about them as a halt of sorts, but a minor blip in the overall path to success.
I was mislead by so many member's descriptions of their weight loss. They would say, "....stick with it and the weight will fall off!" OR "... I had my surgery a minute ago and I've lost 100lbs!"
Comparing won't kill you if you take it with a grain of salt. Understand that, for the majority, the weight doesn't just "fall" off! It comes of in dribs and drabs and once in a while we may be surprised with a loss that is a pound and 1/4 more than normal.
    Don't be fooled.
    You are doing it right!
    You are amazing!

Hi! I am new to the site! I started my variate is surgery process 6 years ago with the plans to have bypass and again 5 years ago with the same plans but two deaths in my family made me decide that it was a sign! So 6 months ago I started again with the sleeve in mind and everything seems to be falling into place!
My 6 months are up and the info is being submitted to the insurance company hopefully today! My HW was 316. My SW was 278 (I actually lost 20 lbs before I started my 6 months) my CW is around 240. I have always been the famous yoyo dieter and I don't want to do that anymore!
I am an RN and it is difficult to tell my patients what to do to be healthy when I am overweight myself and come from a family who is also overweight!
I can't wait to have surgery and am currently looking at surgery the first week in April providing everything goes as planned!!

LRG2014 reacted to SteveH in One week Post Op/Gastric Sleeve
Today I am one week post op. I have lost 13 pounds since last Tuesday morning, day of surgery. What I remember most about my two day hospital stay was the hiccups. I would eat ice chips, get the hiccups, drink Water, get the hiccups, eat broth, get the hiccups. Water didn't stay down too well at first. My surgery was at noon, by 11pm that night I sat up in a chair for the first time. I had a pain pump that I controlled to help with the pain. Including my drain incision, I have 5 cuts from the laproscopic surgery. The largest one being on my lower left side is the one that hurts the worst. They have to stretch the muscles there to pull the stomach out. It is still the one that bothers me the most. As long as I keep on top of my pain meds, it's not too bad. Doctor took the drain out yesterday and told me to start alternating with Tylenol to try and reduce the amount of pain pills I am taking. Your not going to feel like it but it definately helped in the hospital to get up and walk. I had to be pushed a little, but after walking, did feel better. I am on a full liquid diet now, which I am tolerating, but about two and half teaspoons of Soup fills me up, so takes a while to eat my 4 oz. soup for lunch. Have to take my pills one at a time and wait a few minutes in between to avoid nausea. The car ride to the dr. yesterday also made me slightly nauseated. Feeling better each day though. The hiccups did finally subside after about the 4th day, thank goodness.

The seasoning will get you every time...Take it easy on the sleeve...gradually introduce new foods, seasoning and textures to it as recommended by your doctor...I still can't handle pepper...I love spicy food but that is a big no no for me now...The only time I have thrown up has been twice because of spicy food...Glad you made it!!!

The infamous 3-week stall. It happens. Check out the link in Butterthebean's signature line. The article explains why stalls happen.
I am in my 5th month. And since month two, I have spent more time stalled than not. It's weeks of no weight loss followed by spurts of loss. It's frustrating as hell. But I'm following the plan, tracking everything and waiting out my scale. It blows.

I've been in a stall for over 5 weeks.
Whilst you're stalling, you need to measure yourself.
Your body is doing weird things. Like shrinking. Get the tape measure out.
Stalls aren't nice, but they appear to follow a pattern. I have found that I stalled at week 3, stalled at the BMI 31 point (which is practically the same weight as you are stalling at, Sandy) and have stalled at 198-199 for the past 5 weeks. Its like my body is actively resisting moving beyond the 'onederland' point.
Aint nothing you can do apart from hang on in there. It will come off. Least I hope it's bloomin' gonna!
    More Protein and more Water.

Howdy all. Just had a moment that felt worthwhile of sharing here. About 10 weeks out of my December VSG and just slid on a pair of 48 jeans.
Think its probably the first time I have been wearing 48's in at least the past 5 years.
At my pre-surgery highest weight I was sporting 56's, and 56's with an elastic waist that seemed pretty generous. 2 months later and all those clothes are up on EBay.
Just a waypoint along the way, but those threshold numbers seem to hold a bit of extra meaning. Motivational to think that, after today, it will likely be the last time ever wearing pants in 50 plus sizes.
    Thanks for listening .

LRG2014 got a reaction from HumanMerelyBeing in Pill sizes...what is OK?
My doctor sent me home with liquid pain medicine which was awful. I found out very quickly that I could not stomach the liquid meds. My regular medicine is small enough that I have no trouble taking but the Biotin that I take is huge. I bought a pill slicer and cut that sucker up into 8 pieces. They have a dissolving tablet but it is only 1,000mg and I like taking the 10,000 mg.. I don't want to lose my hair. My Vitamins are all gummies including the Calcium supplement. I love that!! Hope this helps!
