I will not miss having fat sex. My man and I are madly in love and he loves my body, no matter what, but feeling him grab my fat rolls is humiliating. I can't wait to have skinny sex! All you success stories out there....how's the skinny sex?

VSG was my first surgery. there wasn't anything anyone could tell me that would make me NOT worry about this. About wakin up during the procedure. About NOT waking up from the procedure. About a leak. About busting my sleeve open.... I had all the same thoughts and fears and if you didn't have them you wouldn't be normal. Everything went great, my surgery lasted all of 37 minutes. You'll do fine!

LOL you are reading the diets that people have to stick to right after surgery to allow our little pouch to heal!!! That isn't what life is like from then on!!!!! I can eat anything I want. I CHOOSE not to eat certain foods because of the way that they make me physically feel afterwards, however there are very few things that make me feel that way, and everyone is different! I personally have trouble with bread, Pasta, and certain kinds of chicken. So I stay away from that for the most part. However, there are hundreds of things that I CAN and DO eat, and enjoy! The sleeve does not restrict you in the same way as the bypass does. I was mentally ready to change my life and so for me, I wanted to be able to still enjoy a piece of cake at a birthday party without being sick. Some people need the restriction that a bypass provides as mentally they just are not able to cut off that relationship with food. I was mentally ready for a couple years, but when the weight did not come off at the rate I needed it to, only then did I turn to surgery. It sounds like you are really torn with the thought of having to possibly sacrifice certain foods...I would just ask you to look at some before and after pictures of some people on the site as I think it may help you make up your mind. Personally, I am pissed at myself for waiting until I was 31 to have the surgery. I should've done this in my 20's so that I could've enjoyed the after years a little more
In short...getting the surgery is by far the smartest, most life changing decision that I have EVER made. I still cannot believe everyday when I wake up that I am an entire person smaller than I used to be. Oh...and did I mention that outside of the required post op diet, I have not felt that I have had to sacrifice any food that I wanted to have due to the surgery. The ONLY change is the amount that I now eat
Good luck in your decision...my vote is go for it!

I can admit to having lots of doubts in the beginning. I woke up thinking "what in the heck have I done to myself" and then the first time the family had pizza and I had my chicken broth I thought again "what in the heck have I done to myself". But I can honestly say, that very quickly I realized that there are NO REGRETS! I am a year out, at my goal, exercising, loving the way I look and feel, encouraged by all the positives comments I get on how good I am looking, my health is better and I have confronted a lot of emotional issues that led me down the path to obesity.
Yes, it is drastic surgery. Yes, it is good that you are taking your time and taking it seriously. I did the same thing. I researched for a year before I had the surgery but I am sooooo glad that I did!!! Best thing ever!!! But you have to decide for yourself what is right for you.
I am like DUBRookie, I can eat just about anything. There are a few things that my tummy doesnt like but nothing that I cant live without. (Almonds and eggs make my tummy hurt) But my husband says that the meals that I make now compared to before are much tastier and that he enjoys them more (and he has lost 60 pounds alongside me!) I can have a piece of pizza if I want it, I can have a cookie or some frozen yogurt, I just have to make sure that this is occasional and not a daily thing.
Life looks a lot better without the extra weight and without being chained to the kitchen always wondering what I will eat next.
My experience has been a great one! Hope you have a great one too!

McButterpants reacted to murmart in Caffeine withdrawals!
I stared the process of quitting caffeine a month before surgery. Caffeine is a VERY powerful drug and it takes time to wean off it. I first cut down my intake to 2 cups and spread them over a day next week I went down to 1 cup and started Decaf. The next 2 weeks got myself down to zero caffeine. That last week was the worst. Headaches, irritability but I could control it pretty well. But I'm so happy I did it is making my recovery that much easier you do not want caffeine withdraw after surgery.

True story about soft drinks unrelated to the confessional part of this thread...When I went to the information session about VSG, the doctor said he had had the VSG surgery. He was sipping on a diet Coke during the seminar when he shows a slide about forbidden foods and it mentioned soft drinks. I thought that was ironic.

I want to...(in no particular order)
Walk into a room and not worry or think about if I'm the fattest one there.
    Feel attractive.
Have the energy to be a mom that can do active things with her son - maybe embarrass him by breaking out into a river dance in front of his friends..
Take the 3 mile uphill hike up to the lake.
    Run. Run with wild abandonment.
Have my picture taken - there has to be some documented proof that I existed.
Smile. A lot. I have a lot of time to make up for.
Shop for clothes in the Misses section, not in the plus department that has the worse selection and prints that look like they belong on a 1970's vintage couch or window covering. (Sore spot, obviously)
Sit in a chair and not worry that the creek I'm hearing is the chair asking for help or a warning it's going to break.
    Sit in a booth...comfortably.
Have my wedding rings fit comfortably and not look like they are forced on a Breakfast sausage.
Take a walk without fearing some smart ass kid isn't going to yell something out the window of his car at me like "Speed up!" "It's going to take more than a walk!"
    Not fear seeing old friends.
    Be proud of myself.
OK - that's enough for now.

Just wanted to thank everyone for this site! I'm two weeks (yesterday!) post op and this community has been such a help. From reading others struggles, issues and successes to being able to ask questions and everything in between---I love it.
For example---for the first time since sleeved, today I'm feeling hunger about two hours after eating. Of course the "oh my gosh the surgery didn't work" brain kicks in. I just did a search for "hungry" and found a few threads where others ha dealt with this at various stages. My fears were calmed.
Sometimes we know something intellectually, however in the heat of the moment, when left to out own devices we convince ourselves that something is abnormal. It could be that many of (pre-sleeve) us are used to be the exception to the rule. Always the hungriest. Always the biggest. Always feeling like a failure.
That's all. Thank you to everyone who encourages, shares, gives the hard to hear info and all who are in this community!

Pre-opper here...I've been trying really hard to eat well most meals, but realize there are foods that are going to be off limits after surgery. For the most part, I haven't been doing a lot of fatty foods. So...
We went out to dinner last night. At this restaurant, they make a really good sandwich called the chicken Ranch Club (chicken breast, slice of cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomotao and ranch dressing on a bun). I thought "I should get that" because it's something I won't be able to have post-op, probably ever. So, I threw on some tator tots as well.
OMG - I was so uncomfortable on the way home. It was like there was a balloon in my stomach. I felt horrible all night and into this morning.
Needless to say, I can bid farewell to the Chicken Ranch Club and probably never think about it again. I threw up in my mouth a little just thinking about last night's experience.
