  1. I was sleeved in Mexico 3 weeks ago, I chose Mexico because it was more cost efficient for me as well. Even with my insurance my out of pocket cost was going to be three times what I paid to go to Mexico for the same exact surgery. Being a mom of 3 it just wasnt feasible cost wise for my family.I know it is important to have a PCP who is supportive of your decision and is willing to see you post op if for lab, etc...Unfortunately when I approached my PCP her response was something along the lines of "You understand if you have complications when you get home NO surgeon will touch you and you cant still eat your way through a gastric sleeve" Wow, guess that answers the question if you support my decision. I am still in the process of finding a new doctor. I wish I had done it before surgery but I wasnt expecting that reation from her... ultimately it is important to know if your PCP is going to support you post-op.

I think your protein intake is really low. Most doctors I know recommend getting in ~60-80 grams a day. My doc wants me taking in 60-80 grams of protein, 400-600 calories, and 15 grams of carbs a day until I've lost 70% of my excess weight. What guidelines did your doc give you? I was sleeved in mexico and my surgeon didnt give me a specific amount of protein to take in daily so I kind of put together my own plan based on other doctors guidelines. Somedays I get more, some days I get less. I am trying to find a good protein shake that doesnt have that overly sweet aftertaste, It gags me everytime!! I've been getting a majority of protein from greek yogurt, tuna & chicken salad and cottage cheese. There is just not much to choose from in this pureed/mushy phase.I started to walk on the treadmill daily for 30-45 minutes hoping that would kick in some loss but it hasnt budged. I really just dont know, I am willing to try anything to get the weight loss jump started. Only down 10 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks must be a new record of SLOW weight loss.

We are almost exactly the same except for surgery date! My starting weight was 215, surgery weight was 203 and current weight is 194...I am sooooo frustrated!. My surgery date was Nov 25 so I am a little over 2 weeks out and only a 9 lb loss since surgery? Are you kidding?!?! I am tracking my calories, protein & sugar intake daily and I am only getting about 600 calories in a day and about 20-25 grams of protein so I don't know if that has something to with it...I keep telling myself it will come off eventually but it just seems like I have put my body through ALOT to be losing this slow...Those feeling of failure when I dieted before and didn't see results are starting to rear their ugly heads...
  4. I have not tried the Protein he sent home with me yet but I am doing a Protein shake 2 x day. I have read so much about head hunger and I am trying really hard to make sure that is not what is going on. I literally feel "empty" in my stomach. I just see where other people only eat a few bites and they feel full right away and I don't seem to be experiencing that, even with liquid.
  5. Ok so I just found this thread (I'm kind of new to this forum thing)...I posted in another Dr Ponce one before surgery!!! Well here I am on the other side!!! I was sleeved November 25 so today is 10 days post op. I am feeling great! I am back at work and have had no real issues with pain....here is my problem: I have felt so hungry the last couple of days. I am finding it nearly impossible to follow Dr. Ponce's post op diet plan...according to him I should still be on clears for 3 more days! The first couple of days on liquids were ok but now I am just miserable and feeling like I am once again thinking about food ALL the time... "When am I going to get to eat that?" "Man that smells good, I wish I could taste it," etc... Last night when I got home from work I ate some greek yogurt and to my suprise it went down good, a little too good...I probably ate more than the 6 oz I am allowed. I didnt feel any pain or tightness, I probably could have eaten more if I let myself but I was scared I was going to burst my sutures or something. Within an hour of eating the yogurt I felt hungry again an I thought "Oh no, what did I start?" I ended up putting some homemade pinto beans I served my family in the food processor and pureed them to smooth and again probably ate more than 6 oz with no problems...Is this normal? Aren't I supposed to be able to feel "full" after only a couple of bites at this point? Am I going to mess something up inside me if I am "eating" too much?

Thanks, I just keep telling myself that it's just temporary. My surgeon seems to have a different diet plan than some others I have seen, he wants 10 days of clear liquids, 10 days of full liquids then 10 days of soft food so according to his plan I can't eat anything for 20 days!!! That seems like such a long time!!! The kicker is even though I was sleeved on the 25th he doesn't count that as day 1, he counted day 1 as the day I was released from the hospital ( 11/ 28 ) soooooo according to this plan I'm only on day 4!!!!!! I'm going to go crazy first!

Sleeved 11/25, I feel good but I'm having a hard time with "mental hunger"... I'm not physically hungry but I feel like I want to eat food! I'm still on clear liquids so maybe get better with soft foods, I'm so tired of drinking!!! I want to eat!! I'm feeling very deprived, normal?

Thanks! Did you use INT Hospital? Also I'm not sure about this "pre-op diet" thing, I see lots of people doing clear liquids for 2 weeks before surgery but I haven't received any information about that... I need to know if that is something I'm supposed to be doing since I'm only 3 weeks out!
  10. I am scheduled for surgery in 3 weeks, anyone used this team at INT Hospital lately? I haven't seen any posts on here recently, just looking for someone to share the good or bad! I'm getting a little nervous
