    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

    - I was sleeved on dec12 and still struggling to get in minimum 50g protein and 48oz water per my NUT On a good day I'm probably getting in around 300 calories -- 30g protein and 32 oz water Incredibly weak these days too; lost about 25lbs in 3 weeks since surgery Didn't think 3 weeks out would look like this but it should get better I had hiatal hernia repair same time so I believe that is my greatest challenge ... I actually broke down and cried while on the phone with my NUT the other day; it hurt so bad to sip anything Im doing a bit better with sipping now due to the carafate solution my surgeon prescribed me but still not easy -- I'm thankful for the tiny progressions Best wishes to you!! I was also sleeved on the 20th and am also struggling to get all my H20 and protein in, Amiee0176, my intake is exactly the same as yours. I am really struggling to drink any more protein drinks... They all just make me nautious now because I'm sick of them. When I eat, it's protein, but, I can barely eat more than 3-4 bites and then I'm full. Im on a week vacation at Disneyworld though, so I haven't been really as focused on eating and drinking as maybe I would be if I were just at home. But I'm getting a TON of exercise this week though with all the walking around... Best way to get back into exercising in my opinion! I'm hoping it will get easier as we're more healed and can incorporate more variety. I don't know all my numbers yet, there's no scale here so I'm excited to get home on Friday and see how I did this week. I was 12 lbs down since surgery last Friday and 26 total including pre-op. but I am definitely seeing a difference in my body so I think it'll be a good week

One day I felt a bit like that, I drank my water while I took my walk. The wiggling side to side kinda helped bring the bubbles up. Plenty of people need a prescription strength PPI to help reduce the acid. If u suspect that is your issue I'd call the doc. You may not have to suffer like this. Also, could I ask what you are eating in a given day? Perhaps we can pinpoint something that is aggravating things. For instance, some people become lactose intolerant for a time post op. It varies from day to day, but usually starts out with a protein shake of some kind, usually using water or almond milk, sometimes a little Greek yogurt for the smoothie. Lunch is usually a reduced sodium or fat free chicken or beef broth. Dinner is a creamy soup of some kind sometimes with unflavored protein powder in it. Depending on how much protein I need or not, perhaps another clear protein drink. And all of this feels impossible to finish and get in more than 4-5 glasses of water. I am literally tired of eating because it takes me like an hour to finish each meal and I'm not hungry at all so I feel like I'm just forcing myself to eat and drink.

Thanks everyone, I'll try that. Ive been doing the gas-X strips and tums, but its Still not 100%. It's really hard for me to get anything down when I feel like it just sits on my esophagus and burns...

For any stomach sleepers out there, I would suggest getting a body pillow for post-op sleeping. I'm having a hard time sleeping on my back all the time, so I found that if I put a pillow under my right side of my stomach and between my legs I can sometimes sleep on my right side. Forget about the left side, that won't happen for awhile.

------Feel better!! I was on dilaudid for first 2 days every 4 hours --- loved it!! They moved me to roxicet claiming i cant go home with dilaudid which wasn't strong enough but I suffered through ...also had hiatal hernia repair (ouch!!!!!!) It gets better with time ... I'm 10 days out today and feeling little to no pain just lack of energy ... Can't wait to get to soft solids You already look so slim in your avatar I wish they put me on dilauded, because the morphine didnt seem to work. This roxicet kicked in and feels better than anything else they've given me so far. I think I was just on the wrong pain med. going to try some broth now and see how that goes.

Hi girls, I am also with dr. Cohen. I'm at memorial pembrook. Was sleeved on dec. 20. Will possibly be discharged today. I'm in a lot of pain, much more than I had expected. I just tried my first roxicet for pain, up until now, I've been on morphine every 3 hours. Broth and water makes me nautious, pain meds make me nautious, And my stomach feels like the muscles have all been torn especially on the left side where they pulled the tummy through. I know that there's light at the end of the tunnel, and I'm looking forward to it. Just trying to breathe and take it day by day!! This seriously makes me rethink considering getting a pannulectomy after I loose the weight. Stomach pain is no joke and you use your stomach for everything!
