Nauseous
Wendy, I found that if I drank the protein drinks to fast I got nauseous and got diarrehea. I left mine in the fridge and every time I passed the fridge I took a drink. I still got in all my protein, I just spaced it out. It really helped me.

So what happened at *your* seminar?
Like all the others here, it was very informative. They passed around a band, some pictures. They had past patients that talked, told of their experience. The Dr came in, had a slide show and opened the floor to questions. They handed out some lititure to take home also. I was so glad I went and took my Boyfriend, he had questions and it actually got him "on Board" to the band.I think alot of Drs require you attend at least one of the seminars. Maybe more.

NY Knockouts-- Pre-op Poll
srbanker, I actually had a lean meal during my two week liquid diet. it would have been my 4th liquid day. My BF had a fish fry with his family, I had a piece of the fish, ham and some veggies. I went right back onto the liquid diet and did not stray after that and still lost. I will say that it made it harder to get back onto the liquid the second time. BUT I DID IT. Best of luck to you. NY Knockouts-- Pre-op Poll
Jim, I had a two week liquid diet. The first few days were the worst, then you just get used to it and DO IT. not fun, but will be worth the end result. Surgery went so well for me, I would not have changed a thing. Lois

January 3rdsters!!!
ovahkummer Hello, I will be banded Jan 3rd also. I have been on a two week liquid diet. Mostly protein drinks- 3or 4 a day, jello, broth, flavored water, sherbert and popsickles. Then on Wens I am clear liquid "no protein drinks". and of course nothing after midnight before surgery. I have to be there at 6am and I am the first band of the day! I am being done at a surgery center, so i will be coming home that afternoon. I have checked off my list and have everything ready. All I have left is to make sure laundry is done, stop by the store and get some more broth. Best of luck to you. let me know how you are doing... Other Jan 3rd Banders? would love to hear from you also. Lois

Did you go on a diet before surgery
Hello, It seems every Doctor is different on pre-op diets. My Doctor has me on a two week liquid diet. Mainly this is to shrink the liver to make the procedure easier and safer. For my two weeks, I can have Protein shakes, jello, chick and beef broth, sherbert, sugar free pop sickles. I am on my 6th day and doing ok so far. Find out what your doctor recomends. good luck in your search.

Same Day Apposed To Overnight Stay
Everyone, Thank you very much for your responses. I am self pay, and like I said, I was scheduled for a overnight stay at a Surgery Center. My Doctor has went out on his own, and is in a new facality by himself, and it does not offer overnight stay. It is one day stay. I was just worried about the short stay as apposed to overnight stay. You all have calmed my fears, thank you very much. Good luck to all. Lois

Starting Two Week Pre-op Diet
Januray 08 Banders - Here we go. My surgery is Jan 3rd and I start my pre op liquid diet on Thurs. This is my second surgery date, and second stint with the two week liquid diet. My first surgery was canceled Aug 29th, the day before surg. I am here to tell you, that if I can do the two week liquid diet twice anyone can do it. I am looking forward to a exciting, lighter New Year. I am so excited to be able to follow everyones progress. I know we all will do great. We just have to stick together and remember we have a new " TOOL" to help us achieve our healthy goals. Good luck to all. Lois :clap2:

Keeping secrets
Hello, I will be banded in Jan and have chosen to keep my surgery low key. I of course have discussed it with my bf, he went to the seminar with me. I told my Mom and then I wrote a letter to my three brothers explaining what I was going to do, how much I had researched it. My family knows how I have struggled all my life with weight, they have seen the many diets, the many regains. They have all been positive and want to help me in any way they can. I requested that they not tell anyone else until i feel more comfortable with it. At work I have told my boss, only because of the time off, and the fmla paperwork. I again asked her not to mention it to anyone else. I work nights, pretty much by myself, so I will not have all the people watching and wondering about my eating. I know at some point I will feel more comfortable talking about it.But right now, I want it low key. I am just ready to have it done.

New Year's Resolution
Hello all, I will finally be banded on Jan 3rd of 08. This has been a long journey so far. I started researching in Jan of 07, had a surgery date of Aug 30. A day before my surgery the Anathesiaologist canceled my surgery. I know have to get my self excited again and get my mind and body ready all over again. I am here to tell you that being on a two week liquid diet is no fun only to have the surgery canceled. I lost 24 lbs during the two weeks but have gained it all back. TALK ABOUT DISSAPOINTMENT. I ate everything in sight for about a week. I am slowly getting back on the right path and getting geared up for the surgery. Good luck to all the other Jan banders.
