  1. So I met Robin today via Skype- he was very nice. I'm officially excited again. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  2. I'm looking forward to living- being active, traveling without worrying about the airplane seat or a seatbelt extender, going places hoping I don't have to cram myself into the seat, doing activities and not having my weight be a factor in whether I can do it or not. LIVING!!! So excited. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  3. Right I get that part of it but I'm talking about the milky shakes versus the clear Isopure-style Protein Drinks. Is there a difference between those protein drinks nutrition wise? I'm going to email my nut and see. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  4. I have a question about Protein drinks because on the preop diets they tell you to drink shakes and never mention the other protein beverages like Isopure. Does it matter which ones you drink? {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  5. I've never heard anyone mention Dr Martinez!! When Lori emailed me, she asked if I would be ok with speaking to Dr Martinez and I said no I wanted to speak to Dr Ortiz. Had I known that I would've been fine with speaking to him instead I'll have to email Lori (I'm sure she's avoiding me and/or is busy). I'm sitting here already nervous as all get out and my doctor won't even call me?! Some doctors require you meet ahead of time and I'm going into this blindly. I definitely don't question their ability- it's obvious they know what they are doing. I just don't want to be left out in the cold when I "saw the signs" ahead of time. Now I know and I'll speak with Martinez. Thank you guys. It's really hard to just trust and take people's word for everything. Also you know everyone always talks about Batman ( I call Dr Ortiz Batman in my head). So you pay to see Batman, expect Batman to pick up the Batphone, then get Robin (although I'm sure Robin is cool). We'll see what happens. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  6. I'm seriously considering not going to OCC at this point. Don't know that it's a good fit for me. I've asked Lori since Aug 22nd to Skype with Dr Ortiz and have gotten nothing but sorries and he's busies. I asked her to call me but I got no call nothing but emails. I don't want to cancel my surgery, but if I can't even talk to him before surgery, what will they do if I have complications? Disappointed right now. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  7. So Isopure grape frost with lemonade crystal light- Amazefest!!!! {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  8. I wouldn't go as far as saying she's jealous, seems like it was just a slip of the tongue and of course as the party planner she probably wasn't thinking about what she said. Oh well, that will probably be the least of the silly comments you will hear, especially once you start losing. I'm an RN too and chose to tell everyone at work what I'm doing so I will hopefully not have to hear so many dumb comments, but we all know how stupid people can be. What can you do but "water off a duck's back" it. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  9. My surgeon says 3 but I'm going to ask for 4 minimum. I work at one of those hospitals where we do everything, and I barely get a chance to pee or get a glass of Water some days. I don't want to get sick going back too soon. I'm going to try to weasel another month out of them if I can {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  10. That's my regret too. Had I known I could do this on my own, I would've done it at least 3-4 years ago. You people in your 20s to early 30s, don't doubt this decision for a second! Move forward and make this decision for you so you don't regret losing time later. Time is the most beneficial asset we lose sight of until its right in front of our face, and I plan on making the most of it- as long as everything goes well with my surgery and I hope and pray it will {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  11. I can't speak for everyone, but personally I went for a consultation for a lap band in early August here in California, found out that my insurance covers WLS but I would have to do a nutritional program for 6months with no guarantee i would get approved, did further research, decided the sleeve was a better fit for me, don't want to wait, and am paying out of pocket and going to Mexico. Doing this there mainly because of the reputation of the surgeon. I have no clue how many sleeves the surgeon here has done. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  12. Obnurse, I'm assuming we have the same profession. How long are you taking off work? {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  13. I haven't had my surgery yet. I'm on Oct 7th (OMG 30 days) but I'm assuming I will. Once I lose though I will definitely be getting plastics. That gives me a few years to lose then I'll get it for my 40th birthday present to myself {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  14. Your'e right. No one should be taking laxatives without the advice of their surgeon (although we see where that got LI Gemini NY-sorry ). Enemas are fast acting working within minutes and don't continue to make you go once you're done versus Mag Citrate which takes longer to kick in and once it does kick in (hours later) continues to make you go- and go and go and go if you get what I mean If you don't know your body, its not a good idea to randomly take laxatives without speaking to a medical professional. If I weren't a nurse, didn't know what all my labwork looks like and the meaning of all the values, I wouldn't do it myself. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  15. Glad you're ok, chickadee. All the swelling is from the fluids I'm sure you got intra and postop. You'll probably start peeing like crazy over the next few days and be a skinny mini! You don't even look that overweight to begin with but I guess that's relative. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  16. That's a good question. How did you end up in SD? {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  17. Statement 1. I agree. I believe the only issue with losing fast or slow is the problem most of us have- maintenance. Once we lose it, its hard to keep up the "diet" habits we all use to lose the weight to keep it off for the long haul. Statement 2. I believe that the whole don't eat after a certain time thing has to do moreso with fact that most of us work during the day, eat, then go to sleep a short time after eating giving no opportunity to burn off what you eat. Some people I know who work night shift eat all night long and have no problem with their weight but they don't eat close to when it's time to go home and don't eat Breakfast when they get home, which would be our normal "dinner time." Statement 3. Your'e right. If that were the case, we wouldn't be alive because over time our hearts and other organs with muscle fibers would eventually totally turn into fat Muscle loses tone, but doesn't change into something else transformers style.
