  1. The gas pain really is the worse. I really don't know what to compare it to because I've never broken a bone besides toes which didn't really hurt to me. I had gotten chewable beano but never even used them. Walking really helped me a lot with the gas pain. Sorry couldn't be more help
  2. I was told 4 weeks by my surgeon and my weight restriction is lifted. Since I have another week to go I joined another gym just to get in the cardio. Walking got pretty boring
  3. Be sure to keep your elbows like glued to your body otherwise the rope shortens obviously making it difficult. Besides that just keep at it, you'll get there! I know its hard when you keep whipping yourself with the rope but you got this!
  4. No he hasn't at all and he claims he has no health problems which I don't buy. I was watching something and a doctor had said in his opinion he needs to lose AT LEAST 200 lbs which he wont be bale to do via the lap band. Although if he hasn't had virtually any success with the lap band who knows if he'd be able to adhere to the dietary restrictions of a vertical sleeve.
  5. I'm 2.5 weeks out and just went to the gym this morning actually and did the elliptical for 45 minutes I was walking 5 miles a day too! At my post-op check in my surgeon told me I can do whatever cardio just still no lifting over 10 lbs till I'm at 4 weeks
  6. Bars you could try the CarbRite diet off bariatricchoice.com, I've had a few so far and have yet to have a bad one (I bought one of each flavor to just try). I also drink isopure zero carb since its 40g of protein per bottle its basically like a sports drink. Could try Quest bars too! I do use the Bariwise pudding, and hot chocolate which are also delicious. Sometimes with the pudding to make it thicker I'll put an extra scoop of my choc protein in it.
  7. sugar free popsicles or sugar free jello? I did mostly sugar free jello
  8. The best way to help with the gas is just to keep walking. I was sleeved 10/09
  9. The only trick for the gas is walking. I brought socks, a robe, nightgown, and my phone charger
  10. Im on full liquids for 2 weeks then pureed foods for 2 weeks. Probably best to get in touch with your doctor and explain they gave you 2 different sets of instructions and which they want you to follow
  11. I'm surprised at how many sips I'm able to take and a little over a week post op. Just don't push it and you'll know when you do. WIth everything from here on out it just takes time.
  12. Next year will be great! You'll be able to get a great costume! It is very discouraging but its something to look forward to!
  13. Everyone is different. I'm just over a week post op and have been able to walk 5 miles a day with no problem although today I did wake up with a pain in my side where they pulled my stomach through. I haven't walked my dogs this soon after surgery, and actually just bought a harness for one of them since he pulls. Just take your time, stick with it and you'll do great! I
  14. I bought all of my vitamins from the twinlab bariatric support. I had seen them on vitamin shoppe and decided to give them a try. They don't taste that bad I think once I finish the calcium citrate I need a diff flavor not fond of the citrus.
  15. I can't taste anything when I use it. I have used it in soups and it blends right in I don't usually use a full scoop because the scoop in that container is HUGE. It might make the texture a little thicker. Instead of cream of wheat I've been using baby cereal and I do need to use a bit more water/milk to thin it out but can't taste it at all.
  16. I use the unjury unflavored and love it!
  17. Broth can get tiring. I mostly did protein shakes made with water because my liquid diet was pretty strict. But you just have to stick it out. How long is yours?
  18. I live in Bridgewater. I was sleeved October 9th at Overlook by Dr. James Lopes
  19. I'm already welling up with tears at the thought of this incredible man. He has completely changed my life. I am so lucky that my mom found him off the internet and that everything has been so amazing. From the first time I met Dr. Lopes in his office I knew that he was the perfect surgeon for me. His knowledge, professionalism, and you can truly feel how much he cares about his patients. This entire process, while there were some hiccups, has really been completely smooth. My mind was completely at ease the morning of surgery and when Dr. Lopes met with my mother and I he turned to my mother and said the absolute sweetest thing "Don't worry I'll take good care of her." I was completely calm as they wheeled me in the OR with his hand on my hip he told me to dream about something good before I was put to sleep. He went through everything with my mom following surgery and thanked her for being so supportive. This man even called that night to talk to me, the night nurse handed me the phone. I was in doing my barium test and in he walked still in scrubs from either coming from or going to surgery. I am so eternally happy with my decision to have Dr. Lopes do my surgery. Not only has he been amazing but so has his office with any help I have needed.
  20. I'm 7 days post op and all I did to relieve my gas pain was walk. Walk outside, walk around your living room, just walk it definitely helps.
  21. That's awesome! Congrats! Keep doing what ever it is you're doing!
  22. Two months will fly by in no time! It gives you plenty of time to prep and get all your essentials for your new life! Welcome to the losers side
