Really?? So you're saying that because they do a lot of surgerys they are "experienced"? Just because a builder builds a thousands homes...doesn't mean they are always built safe. Just my opinion...that's it.

Alcohol YES please. Oh um yes I tolerate alcohol but not to the excess I was able to before sleeve. I have not touched a beer since pre surgery and never will. I now enjoy some wine a few times a week. Most I can drink in a little over a glass. I get bad headaches if I drink more than that now. Otherwise I had no issues.

I am 5'10". My surgeon says goal is 100 lbs for 5 feet then 5 pounds for every inch above that so they have my goal set at 150. Realistically I am hoping for 165.

Think of it this way...u only need willower to keep the food out of the house-at the store. Then u dont even think about it the 50 times a day at home.
Its amazing what eating a slice of sandwich meat or other dense Protein before shoppingcan do to your willpower...

Everyone keeps saying you get what you pay for. I bet there is truth to that in a way that if someone has been doing it since the 80's as opposed to the past 3 years. I've been trying to decide which surgeon and facility to go with and and I think there is not truth in a way that complications can arise from any surgery and surgeon and facility. I would like to think that if I am paying more to have someone - like a skilled and experienced surgeon perform my surgery in a hospital, keep me on an iv to administer fluids and meds to control my pain and antibiotics for 2 nights instead of taking me right to a hotel to recover with pills... I think I can make the generalization make more sense.

That is so funny that you ask that. Today I heard the song, "Your Body is a Wonderland," and now all I can think of is how we refer to it on here. And congrats on almost having your body be a Onederland!

    1) I have lost 19 invisible lbs. They are invisible to the rest of of the world- but I know they are gone.
    2) Telling people I had WLS gets easier. I am very happy I did it
    3) Protein Powder drinks wear thin ( no pun intended). I bought too much in preparation. Anyone want a nectar Syntax Fuzzy Navel? I have plenty!
    4) Drugstore.com sells discounted ready-to-drink Protein Shakes and has free shipping for any order over $35. My current favorite is EAS Advantage carmel cafe, pretty yummy. These will be my commuter Breakfast drinks.
    5) Water consumption should be easy , right? Still don't / can't get in as much fluids as my Nut wants. I am not dehydrated though. I'm just not up to 64 ozs.
    6) My Fitness pal is an excellent food / nutrient tracking tool. I highly recommend it. Protein counting is soooo helpful.
    7) Daytime TV really, really sucks.
    8) I am so concerned about Hair loss that I am tempted to buy some infomercial Shampoo. WEN anyone?
    9) My new tummy makes some interesting growly Halloween noises. Boo!
    10) I need to stop weighing myself daily! I can not keep up losing 1-1 1/2 lbs a day. At this rate I will hit my birth weight in about 6 months.

I think I might have gone for the chicken & broccoli at the Chinese place.....without the rice. In NYC I know the Chinese places let you order the chicken & broccoli steamed with the sauce on the side....

Starbucks for a hard-boiled egg - they have a Protein package that has an egg, Peanut Butter, grapes, cheese and some kind of little flatbread. I usually eat the egg, grapes & cheese and try to restrain myself from the bread.

SleeviePete got a reaction from LosinginFrisco in FitBit Anyone?
I'm 5 weeks post op. I just bought a Fitbit Flex (two weeks now) and I really like it! I wear it all the time. However, since I have an older iPhone it doesn't sync but it does come with a wireless USB dongle which I hooked up with my home computer. I can't wait to get home from work and sync to see how many steps I did! I track my food through Myfitnesspal and you can sync them. It tracks your sleep patterns. It's amazing how many times I wake up at night, don't even ask how many times I am "restless"! At $99, it's a great motivator. I highly recommend it.

SleeviePete reacted to NY Lou in w/pics Hello Onederland, my 1st half marathon & motivation for you
at my highest weight i weighed 323 pounds, that was back in 2004. before i started my sleeve journey i weighed 292 lbs in jan of this year. I was sleeved about 8.5 months ago on march 19. 4 weeks ago I entered Onederland weighing in at 199. today I weigh 192. after training for months, I ran my first 13.1 mile half marathon yesterday. I did it in 2 hours 15 minutes 10 seconds, which comes out to a 10 minute 18 second per mile average or 5.84 mph. getting the sleeve has saved my life. but I can honestly say that its the life style changes ive made, such as eating right and exercising that has truly enabled me to get down to the 192 I am today. when I eat, I can comfortably hold about 8 oz of food. that seems like a lot, but if I make the right choices of what im eating, then eating 8 oz is fine. I never thought I would be where im at today after being around 300 lbs for the last 20 years of my life. if I can do it, you can too. I used to read success stories in this forum and only dream that one day it could be me too. i doubted myself and said good things like these success stories just don't happen to people like me - i was wrong, it can and does happen to anyone who is willing to make the necessary changes in their life. so if youre the way i used to be and youre overweight and you think you cannot be a success story, know that you can if you really want it and youre willing to do the work. its never too late and yes, you too can be a success story. just remember it doesn't happen overnight, but its a fight worth taking on. good luck to each and everyone of you.

Carnie Wilson had her surgery broadcasted for the whole world to see...I don't know how much later, but she got pregnant, gained weight back and now had another WLS! I agree with the others, your body needs to adjust to the "new you". Being pregnant is hard enough on your body. ????
