    Best and worst "compliments"

I don't remember if I replied to this or not, but my best compliment was, "It's not the physical weight loss that stands out so much to me as it is the life that you have in your eyes now." I haven't had any "worst" compliments so far. Only a couple of Negative Nellies who like to tell me who they know that had WLS and gained back everything they lost. 109 pounds lost so far and I'm feeling great!

    Non Hair Losers

I don't know when you start losing it, but I had my surgery October 28 and haven't have any hair loss so far. I do not get in enough Protein or Water. I do have thick hair and have always had some hair loss, but I have so much hair you can tell I've lost any. That hasn't gotten worse for me yet.

    Milk of magnesia

Milk of Magnesia is what my bariatric paperwork said to use for constipation. I got some and used it only once. It works, but it makes me sick at my stomach. I shudder when I even hear the name of that stuff from hating it when I was a kid. When I mentioned the constipation to my surgeon, he told me to get some Miralax. It's a powder you stir into your water and it seriously has no taste. I have a very strong sense of smell and taste, and I cannot taste the powder. It works well with no cramping.
  4. I stalled at 3 weeks, too, and it turned out I was dehydrated. I had other symptoms, too (side and back pain, shoulder pain, constipation...) I forced down the water and all my symptoms went away within 2-3 days and I lost 3 pounds. Try your best to drink as much water as you can get towards what your doctor wants to you drink.
  5. I learned just how important Water is. Two weeks of fatigue, pain in my side and back, shoulders that felt like I was carrying weights on each, constipation, headaches, and a 2-week stall in my weight loss. After my doctor told me I was getting dehydrated and all my symptoms were related to that, I started drinking my water and 2 or 3 days later all my symptoms were gone and I lost 3 pounds.
  6. I was told not to drink fluids 30 minutes before meals and 1 hour after meals. From what I have read on this site, everybody else seems to have been told 30 minutes before meals and 30 minutes after meals. What did your surgeon tell you? Am I the only one who was told 1 hour after meals?

    Updates With Pictures

Wow, you look amazing! Even your highest weight picture you were gorgeous and didn't look 296. You have to feel fantastic!!
  9. You weren't kidding when you said not to laugh at the 20 seconds. I ain't laughing! Whew! I was shaking and probably counted a little too fast those last few seconds. haha I have to do it again tonight for day 2 since I didn't see this until late last night when I was in bed.
  10. Surgery date - October 28 Highest Weight - 326 Surgery Weight - 296 Current Weight - 276.5 Goal Weight - Maybe about 150 - When I see my new PCP I will bring it up and see what she thinks. My bariatric nurse suggested we maybe take 1/2 pill of some of our medications for chronic things like high blood pressure. I take a blood pressure pill and a water pill. I've been feeling very fatigued lately, so I stopped the blood pressure pill a couple days ago and am only taking the water pill. I'll have my blood pressure taken periodically until I see my new PCP in January, but so far it's been fine. I will be very happy if I don't need them anymore. I'm still struggling to get in all the protein and water I need. I had the dreaded stall at 3 weeks and didn't lose anything for a full week. I finally lost 1 more pound and now I'm continuing the stall. I'm constipated, too, so I'll be working on that when I get home from our Thanksgiving dinner tonight. How did you guys do for Thanksgiving? I'm a little nervous about eating away from home, but hopefully I'll be okay. Nothing I ate agreed with me yesterday, even the basic things I have nearly every day. But today is a new day, so I'm hopeful that everything will be easy and comfortable. I do feel better this morning than I have the last few mornings.

    Dizzy

I have been dizzy and weak lately. I'm 4 weeks postop today. I asked my bariatric nurse about it today and she said I may be slightly dehydrated and to keep trying to get in the Water. I was going to go to bed early but I think I'll stay up and keep drinking.

    Coffee Question.,,

Thank you, Sophie. I'm anxious to check it out.
  13. My son and daughter-in-law are hosting Thanksgiving this year so I didn't have to worry about all the cooking I normally do. I think my kids thought I would be out of commission for a long time after surgery. I'm 4 weeks post-op, and I still don't get much at all past the Protein serving, so my plan is to have a few bites of turkey and maybe a bite of green Beans and yams. I'm hoping I will be able to have a little pumpkin pie, too. I will mostly be concentrating on spending quality time with my kids and my 3 beautiful grandchildren who I haven't seen since surgery.

    Best and worst "compliments"

Tomorrow will be 4 weeks postsurgery and I work from home so I haven't seen many people so far. One of my favorite compliments came from my thin, beautiful sister before I had surgery. She said, "You are already beautiful. People tell me all the time your sister is so beautiful. Now you're going to get your confidence back that you lost somewhere along the way, and when you do, look out world!" I will never forget how that made me feel. My absolute favorite, though, came from my 5-year-old granddaughter who said to me last week on Face Time, "Nana! Why does your neck look so long?" I think she is noticing my weight loss.
