hduckey reacted to BarefootDrummer in Dreaded 3-week stall?
I see this is an old thread, just being revisited, but I had heard mention of the "3 week stall." Now, I'm living it! I was steadily losing weight every single day and then at 3 weeks it stopped. The scale has remained the same for the whole week, despite me doing nothing different. I still have a long ways to go. It does make me nervous because I've done many very low calorie diets in the past and my body adjusts to the lower calories and then stops losing. I asked my surgeon about this before surgery to make sure the same wouldn't happen and he said he didn't think it would. I'm hoping this is just the 3 week stall that people have spoken about.
Does anyone know WHY a lot of people stall at 3 weeks? Is there any way to help break it? How long does it typically last?

I called my insurance company everyday too. I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia. The first time that I called I just verified that they had received all of my paperwork. The next time I called I was told it was in review with a nurse case manager. I asked if they had made any notations in the case and if any additional paperwork was needed. I pretty much kept asking the same questions each day that I called. Finally, today, after a week of calling and annoying them to no end, they told me I was approved! They will be sending a letter to both me and my doctor. I have to wait for the doctor's office to actually receive the approval in writing before I can move forward. Some more waiting LOL. But at least it's through insurance! I would definitely recommend just calling, if not every day, at least a couple times a week until you get an answer.
I work for a company that reviews medications for insurance. And if we need more information, a lot of times we just send out a letter or a fax. So it can take some time for the doctor to get the letter that says we need more information. Which then of course delays the processing of your case. So I figured if I called and checked whether or not additional information was needed, that I could relay it verbally to my doctor's office, if necessary, and it would save time.

I also look at my phone constantly like a crazy person. I am afraid I will get denied somehow? I have done every single thing on my criteria needed fir my insurance, but in the back of my mind I have that bad feeling.

SmileyGal12, I will take that advice too! I find myself checking my phone every 15 minutes at work to see if I missed a call. I almost feel stalker-ish LOL. It definitely is the most nervous I have been about anything in awhile. Good luck to you! I hope you hear something soon.

I tried to remember that I was this much closer to getting surgery....I had to do 6 months of appointments, so I was a lot closer at that point. Good wishes!

I have been waiting for my approval as well. My paperwork was sent over on the 13th, last week. I am going nuts waiting, and the weekend is hard but somehow my brain just switched to the conclusion I wouldn't hear from them all weekend. I have been a complete scatter brain.. I haven't been this nervous in my life!! Anyone have any advice to make it less suspenseful?

I can relate to that feeling. I just wanted it to happen as soon as I got the approval letter. My stay at St. Vincent was Great. I had a great nurse and tech. It got boring by the third day but I kept doing laps on the unit to pass time. I think you will enjoy your stay. I only saw Dr. Inman twice. Once before the surgery and the day after surgery.
