    Family cook

I have a large family, there are 7 of us total. I've always been the cook of the house. My children range from 16-25. My surgery was on March 19th and I had the whole crew ready to be on their own in the kitchen for at least a month. They even had partners and meal plans all picked out. I got home from the hospital on the 21st and by the 23rd I was back in the kitchen cooking full meals. I think I was looking for some degree of normalcy. Even though I couldn't eat -there was something about watching others enjoy eating that I enjoyed. The kids and husband helped me with cooking and still did the clean-up for about a month because my stamina wasn't the greatest and dishes were terrible because of where my incisions landed on the counter. I even made a huge Easter dinner on April 1st that I could have never predicted being ready for. I really enjoyed spending the extra time in the kitchen with the kids too. I would teach them how to cook their favorite meal so it really turned into a nice bonding experience. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Pain, and pain killers

I had one incision that was hurting since I woke up from surgery. The doctor said they stitched a nerve and out would work itself out which it did, thank goodness. I took long warm showers and let the water run over the stitch sight and the muscles in my stomach loosened up. This made the pain much more tolerable. I also used a heating pad which also worked. Hope you feel better soon!! Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    March Gastric Bypass Group

Hello everyone, had my surgery on March 19th... Woke up in excruciating pain that lasted until Monday evening. Apparently one of the stitches was stitched onto a nerve. It finally worked its way off and now I'm feeling much better. Everything else has went smoothly, started my pureed stage yesterday with some applesauce and cottage cheese for breakfast and some homemade refried beans and cheese for lunch and dinner. I don't think my new tummy is liking the beans very much. So gonna try something else today. Really happy the pain is gone and finally able to be excited about my future post gastric bypass life. Had buyer's remorse really bad with all of the pain I was having but feel completely different now. Everyone I know had either had bypass or sleeve done. I too had to watch so I could make an informed decision. My sister had bypass and my niece the sleeve done by the doctors I'm using for my bypass.. I think my nerves are good because I really trust the doctors after watching their experience with them. I hope all goes well for you on Monday. I don't have a time for surgery yet but they are suppose to call me today for that. Can't wait to be on the other side of this!! 8. How much was the premium of you dont mind me asking kingdavid757. Which insurance did you purchase? What was the deductible?
  9. Thanks both of you, I meet with Dr. Lahmann on Friday for the first time.
  10. What kind of pre-op diet was required?
  11. Thank you, just trying to wrap my head around everything
  12. I was wondering of anyone had to do lovenox shots ( blood thinners) and for how long? And is you had a drainage tube afterwards? I know all doctors are different. I will be having bypass.
  13. A friend of my cousins in Texas had a ob gyne brought in after her sleeve was done that took care her tubaligation. I was just wondering anyone else's experience with that since I feel it would be easier for me since I'm already in the middle of surgery. My husband did have a vasectomy ( or half of one) 14 years ago. He had complications and and they were only able to finish one side. It was terrible. He couldn't work for a month. This resulted in my fifth child. I'm almost 40, my sister in law that is 42 just found out she was pregnant, I am terrified. My husband and I are extremely fertile people and being on the pill has been our best option that obviously works really well for us. I've read that after bypass the pull is really not an option for you because of absorbtion issues.
  14. Has anyone had their tubes tied at the same time as they had their bypass done?
