    Denied-Anthem BCBS

Im very sorry to hear that, but most hospitals have a family house you can stay in almost for free, if cost is a factor. Even though my doctor is only 2.5 hours away I was scared to leave the hospital. Stayed in a hotel for a night just in case. I hope you don't let this discourage you. Have you tried to call and speak with a claims representative and tell them how far you would have to travel.

9 month Anniversary today! 112 pounds lost!

You look fantastic! Any tips you can give to those if us just sleeved?
  4. Way to go. I'm excited to start more activities and new food ideas.
  5. Congrats! Each program varies. I had to attend a two hour seminar, a psych apt, nutritionalist consult, 30 minute video and quiz on the procedure and diet then a series of pre op test. Don't let it discourage you. Best thing to do is be prepared.
  6. I had my post op, 9 days out 17lbs. I focused really hard in walking 3-4 times a day 15-30 minutes and. Forced myself to sip, sip, sip all the time. The dr and nurse were surprised but very happy with the loss. I'm happy to be on the losers bench

Need all the information I can get

First off this site is so full of information that I'm sure it will be a great help to you.The number one thing to remember is mentally you have to be ready to make the change. The sleeve is a tool not an answer, if you are mentally prepared, have researched and are willing to go through the pre op hurdles, then there is no reason you can't go to a seminar, view some support sites and determine if this is the journey you are ready to take. I'm 6 days post surgery and so excited I'm down 12 lbs. whatever decision you make good luck.
  9. My first post op is tomorrow and I'm excited to go weigh in and even more excited to hopefully progress past liquid diet. I've been reading posts about not knowing what to make. I researched puréed food diets and there are several pages of ideas. But here is an example an example. http://jeanetteshealthyliving.com/2011/03/collection-of-pureed-soups-curried.html Loving my decision so far!
  10. 6 days post op and lost 12 lbs. Sip, sip, sip

  11. Sounds odd that you can't have protein. Did you double check with your Dr? It's so essential for your body. 1 week post ops I'm clear liquid/protein. 64oz water, broth, etc and 60 grams of protein.
  12. Surgery was Tuesday and I was released today. Surgery had no complications but because I was so nauseated I had to stay because I was not meeting my fluid intake. Remember, sip, sip, sip.
  13. I use unsweetened almond milk in mine, gives it and better texture and taste. You will need to have high volume of protein. So if you can't find it in something you like try proti Jell-O shots, they have a good amount of protein. Good luck to you.
  14. Well I officially joined the losers bench as of yesterday. The surgery went well, but I had a hard time coming out of anesthesia. Then swallowing the water nod protein shakes. I guess because I was on so much pain medicine. Started dry heaving, that is no fun at all. But this afternoon so much better. I never once got nervous or scared pre surgery but on a side note. I don't know why I didn't think of it, I have a area that is severely caved in on my stomach. The dr says, well yea, its where I took your stomach out. Mmmm, might have to blame on the drugs.
  15. I had mine yesterday, I've used my pillows, blanket, night clothes to walk around the halls and Chapstick. Good luck.

    Asthma sufferers

I am pre surgery and was wondering if anyone on her has severe allergies to not only animals (cats) but environment to the extent they are on steroid inhalers, occasional steroid shots and daily medications to control it. If so has the surgery helped you with any of the symptoms and how did the steroid meds effect your weight loss?
  17. 14 hours til the losers bench.... Can not wait! Good luck to all the Sleevers on the 17th. And congrats to all the previous ones. I'm ready to take control back of my life!
  18. Mine is tomorrow also, you will be fine! It's the start of the new you. Maybe try some unsweetened almond milk with your Protein.
  19. So excited, only 14 hours from now I will be heading towards surgery . I thimk my friends are more nervous than I am. I have a great feeling about this, like its the best thing I've ever done.

    Telling Work

You do not have to disclose what you are having done to work, it is a violation if Hippa laws. You just need a dr to give you a note taking you off for 2 weeks due to medical need. Good luck.

    Nor Cal ppl

I'm from Redding and choose Enloe in Chico. The process all depends on insurance and the Dr. Requirements. Standard for most is the seminar, meeting with a counselor, nutritionist and the Dr several times. Mine include, for a fee, and is not optional a after counseling and support group. I have Anthem/blue cross. It took me about 2.5 months but I have a friend whose insurance requires 6 months of Dr supervised dieting. Good luck.
