  1. See that part I forgot about. You do look fantastic Jacqui. I am a good 13 years away from where you are now, and if I look even half as good as you do, I will be a happy camper. Again, congratulations.
  2. You look fantastic Jacqui!! If I didn't know that you had been overweight, you would have trouble convincing me. Bravo!
  3. Hi Kara! Welcome to LBT!
  4. I would hazard a guess, she meant that she is 175 kg, but aims to be 75kg (trying to lose 100 kg)
  5. I have been banded almost 32 months, I am yet to have any complications, major or minor. I would have to say that for me, banding has been a 100% success. And I am still banded. Banding is still fairy new in the US, but in Australia and Europe, bands have been placed since the early 90's. I know of at least 2 bandsters who were banded close to 10 years ago who are still at goal weight, and still have bands.
  6. Yes. That was exactly it. I just don't remember spending days over a toilet! I knew I forgot something!! I think was was meant (and who ever it was who said it, feel free to correct me) was that PB'ing everything and spending hours over the toilet wasn't normal. A good majority of bandsters will never go through that. Yep. I feel the same way. I have a great life and family. Great huh? Eh, you were either going to do something about your situation, or you were going to continue to suffer. It's not my body. I only offered a suggestion as to what I would do in your shoes. The pre op diet is about shrinking the liver so it is smaller, and less fatty and easier to move without causing major bleeding during surgery. In this case, getting back on the wagon, and trying really, really hard for the week or two that is required is not only a good idea, but actually a requirement of some surgeons. If they think for even a second you have fallen off the pre op diet wagon, some docs will cancel surgery. So it's not advice that is useless. Yeah, I don't know what thread you are talking about (a link would be nice) But really. Cheating on the pre op diet, while it does happen, it's not a good thing. It can affect your liver, and as a result the surgery. So while the delivery may not have been as gentle as you may have liked. There is a reason behind the need for the pre op diet, and why it needs to be stuck to so closely. And yes. I do remember my lack of self control. I am pleased that I am at the stage where my little piece of silicone, even when unfilled, can give me control over the volume of my food. I don't recall belittling anyone. But if I have, I can only apologise. I hope you find peace and have nothing but success. Good luck.
  7. Thank you!! I think I have had a fairly smooth run of it. I haven't had any major problems, and my weight loss was fairly steady. I can't complain. I do exercise daily. I run 5km a day during the week, and at this stage my Sunday run is an 8km. I do some weight training 2 or 3 times a week (I hate it, but it really is a must) and I do yoga 3 days a week during the school term. I have a 10 year old son, but have my 10 year old nephew down from Caboolture for the rest of the school holidays, so my son is in heaven!!
  8. No, you are not the odd person out. Honestly.
  9. But I like my high horse! It's pretty, and pink with sparkly bits. And best of all, it has wings!!
  10. A big hello from Brisbane to Hilary and Jane!
  11. 1. Do you regret having the surgery? Nope! 2. Have you had any complications because of the LB? None. 3. Is there anything physically you can't do anymore because of the LB? I can't stuff myself silly any more. But that's a damm good thing! 4. What foods and drinks are off limits now or can you not handle because of the LB? I don't drink anything carbonated. But that is by choice. I understand that some people can drink soda's. 5. Have you had any negative side effects? Aside from losing 190lbs? None.

My "goal" list from February 19 2005 (copied and pasted from my blog) I am pleased to say, I have reached every single one of those goals.
  13. No? I started at 297, and am now at 107lbs. It can be done. I lost over 110% of my excess weight. Don't give up before you have even started!! I have seen plenty of people lose 90% or more of their weight with banding.
  14. DH! The sod! Claims that the damage I am doing to his bank account is toxic to his environment!
  15. I think you would have to pry it from my DH's cold dead hands. He wants to make sure I stay in there a LONG time!! :help:
  16. How do you act when you are thin? Much the same way you do when you are overweight. I am far more invisible now, as the "average" girl, than I ever was as the obese girl.
  17. Who eats any more? I mean everything is so dammed toxic! :Humpfh: Any way my bubble designer (my DH) says my bubble will have an air lock. Apparently I will have a portable toilet in the air lock that will be removed and sterilised by my slaves, I mean, my family. The will also serve me organic bubble grown food, and double filtered spring Water through the air lock. Apparently it will also be sound proof. And locked from the outside. :pound:
  18. Are you trying to bring me down? I mean, this is starting to become toxic to my self esteem.
  19. Usually, the patient has nasty heart burn and reflux, and cannot keep anything down (including liquids). It is usually Dx under xray. But at this stage of the game, I wouldn't be worried about slippage.
  20. I would imagine, that like anyone who has chemo, they would be given anti-nausea drugs, and the gastric tube can be inserted, but just not blind.
  21. Congrats on the 18lbs! That is fantastic! If you work your loss out over the 7 weeks, you lost 2.71lbs a week! That is awesome! I am glad it all went well for you! Relax! I am sure your doctor will do what is right for you! I hope it all goes well.
  22. Joke all you like - But once I have the pee issue sorted out, you will all want to live in my bubble with me. And I ain't sharing! Seriously ~ Thank you Peaches!!
  23. (bowing theatrically) Thank you! But I feel better than I look, and that really is fantastic. Again, welcome!!
  24. Hi Dana! A big hello from Brisbane!! Welcome to LBT.
