I'm going to try really hard to not sound judgemental, but what makes you think binge drinking is a good life decision? Surgery or no surgery it's irresponsible and unhealthy. You had VSG surgery to help you lose weight, thereby making you healthier. Why would you throw it all away for college parties? If you want to be successful at the weight loss, and at life in general, you will stop going overboard with the alcohol. This whole "I'm not an alcoholic until I graduate" thing is complete and total bullsh*t. I hope you know that.
Buckle up, eat right (high Protein, low carb), don't drink, and you will see the sleeve still works for you. You will get out of it what you put into it.

Thanks gals. I went through insurance hoops with the band, but immediately was approved for the revision due to complications. I'm so glad I found this site. All your insight and knowing I'm not alone makes things easier.

For me, what I see in the mirror is not reality and why would I do that when all I need to do is step on the scale?
I think if it is at all possible that a vet can possibly re-gain, then weighing every day is a no brainer...IF maintaining is important to them.
We are all different, but to me, this is my last chance, I had 85% of my tummy cut out, I've sat in a support group with a woman who stopped doing everything she had done to lose the weight, She came back to a support group 70 lbs heavier. She cried, she was at a loss.
I am not delusional enough to think it couldn't happen to me, I KNOW me and I know how quickly I can gain weight. No way, not if I can help it. What I do every single day is no problem, no real effort, it's my new life. I exchanged guilt and big clothes for being in control.....for the first time ever, I AM in control of food, it does not control me. I pray that I'll never become complacent.

DagsboroDebbie reacted to RunningA5K in Do I have to keep a food diary?
Ree, you can access My Fitness Pal from your computer (if you are interested in that tracking site). I use it for my NUT visits, and you can run reports, and print it all off. I took a printed report for each day (food and exercise) and she can go through and see exactly how much Protein you are eating, and the exercise you are getting (if you wish to track it and print it).
I found this much easier for me than writing every thing down, especially when she started really focusing on the Protein amounts. There were some items that I just had no idea how much protein was in them, so I could just plug in that item and it calculated the protein according to my serving size, and it provides a running total for each day. I find that I do most of my posting from my computer and check in occasionally from my smartphone.
Just wanted to pass that along!

This place has been a life saver for me.. when I was pre op, I thought I would lose my mind with worry. No matter how many threads I started with me freaking out, everyone was so encouraging and helpful. Now that I am 3 weeks post op, I find everyone to be helpful in a different way. I am on here more than facebook! everyone on here has been in your shoes and everyone on here is rooting for you including me! Feel free to message any of the wonderful people on here for any guidance or advice you feel you need. They will always be willing, myself included! I love it here!

Definitely not, I love my sleeve and what it had allowed me to do!! My sleeve is just a tool and not a magic wand.... In order for this to work you have to put in the effort. I have lost 97 lbs in 11 months and couldn't be happier.

Extremely happy that I made the decision to revise from band to sleeve. Sometimes wish I was losing faster; but glad to be steadily losing and hopefully will have fewer loose skin issues since listing more slowly.

Welcome to the three week stall! I think the majority of us were all there with ya. I lost 15lbs the first two/three weeks and then lost nothing for about two weeks.
Your body is in shock, it's adjusting and healing. Just keep tracking and it will move, I promise!

Link to chicken Cordon Bleu recipe. Only bread item is a light topping of panko and bit of flour in the sauce, otherwise it's all protein- ham, Swiss cheese, chicken breast! I edited it a bit- kept the butter called for to make the roux in the sauce the same, but cut the butter in the panko topping to 2 Tbsp. I also subbed alpine lace reduced fat Swiss cheese for regular Swiss, and used lowfat milk instead of whole (don't try nonfat- you'll lose the creaminess factor). Makes a large 9x13 pan...would probably freeze well after chilling in the fridge. Cut into individual portions and defrost as needed! Very very tasty! 10 servings- 1 serving (I eat 1/2 of one) is 336 calories, 13.7g carbs, 37.2 G Protein, 14 g fat, per recipe creation on MFP with my ingredient substitutions.

I'm 1 month post surgery. Fortunately my bariatric doctor has a gym. I get there 3 days/week for 30 min of cardio - bike/elliptical and weight/strength. Progressing slowly; but progressing. Very out of shape after years of obesity & my sedentary office job.

DagsboroDebbie reacted to nsquared in SCARED CRAPLESS IM GONNA LOSE SO SLOW ... I'LL FAIL!
Unfortunately, there is no way to know how quickly you will lose until you start. My recommendation is stay positive and work your program to the fullest. Once you are cleared for solid foods stick with Protein first. Exercise regularly, once you are cleared to do so. The sleeve is a great tool and the program works but you have to follow it. Your body will catch up with your effort, whether it happens quickly or a little less so. Put less pressure on timing and focus on the journey. You will do great!
