So it turns out my wife is gay...

I'm going through this right now as well. For a long time I blamed it on my weight and have found that's not it at all. I've begged him to see a doctor and he refuses. For the time being, I am not making any rash decisions and I can't imagine my life without him in it. Smye - I can't imagine what your going through... I'm hopeful that even if you are not Husband and Wife, you can still be friends. It may be hard for both of you to get to that point, but keep working on it. Don't worry about the statistics.... You do what's right for you . Keep it real, keep it honest and keep the lines of communication open. I wish the best for you!

    Over It

I've also been a very slow loser. I'll be 2 years on Sept. 20th and at last weight check at the Doctors, I was down 92 lbs. I go back next week and am looking forward to where I am now. There was a period of about 6 months that I didn't lose anything at all. It was beyond frustrating. I was weighing myself at home every week and was getting depressed over it. I stopped weighing myself at home and I started to lose again. I realized when I reach 2 years, I would have lost about 1 lb a week. Looking back on it now, I'm glad it's coming off slowly. There's less of a chance I will gain it back, I didn't have to spend the money on new clothes every two weeks, I don't have massive amounts of sag and I've lost almost 100 lbs! Keep doing what your doing, be patient and let your new sleeve lead the way.
  3. Some people should keep their opinions to themselves. You look wonderful!

Pain around lower left shoulder blade?

Sounds like the gas bubble I had. Stayed there for a few weeks then moved into my shoulder/neck area. Walk it out.

    Orlando Florida

I'm in the Orlando area... my surgery was 9/2013 at Celebration Hospital with Dr. Kim.
  6. I was diagnosed with type 2 about 15 years before my surgery. Off and on through they years I was on Glucovance and Glucovage (spelling?). In May of 2012, I was very ill with bronchitis, the flu and a sinus infection, under an incredible amount of stress and unbeknownst to me, my sugar levels were sky high and I had a stroke. After the stroke, I was on 5 injections a day and 2000 mg of Metformin. Over the next year, I gained 50 lbs. It was so fast and furious, my hips go so bad and I could barely walk. September 2013, I had my surgery and was told to stop taking the insulin shots and the Metformin. 6 months after surgery, I was put back on the Metformin and the dosage was gradually increased back to the 2000 mg's a day. I'm also now on 1/4 of a 5mg pill of Glipize twice a day. My A1C has decreased dramatically and my daily numbers are very good. I've lost 90 something lbs and will probably always be on meds, but hopefully never injected insulin again. I'm not sure that I would take it ever again. Everybody reacts differently to the weight loss. If there is no reason for you to be ON insulin, not sure how you could lose income over it. One thing shouldn't have anything to do with the other.

    Longest stall?

8 month stall 6 months post op. Drove me crazy! Broke it at the beginning of this year. Still losing slowly, but at least I'm losing.
  8. I'm not quite two years - September 20th. My loss has been slow compared to many others. In fact I stalled for 6 months or so. During that time I was exercising and eating fine. An occasional wrong thing or two, but nothing that should have stalled me that bad. This past January, I decided to stop weighing myself. I used to weigh every Friday morning. I went for a check up in early February and found I had lost 3 lbs. I went back in mid April and found out I lost another 5 lbs. Went back yesterday and lost another pound. This losing is happening without being in the gym on a normal basis. I still eat the wrong thing or two and promptly pay for it, but the losing has gotten me excited again. I'm about 30 lbs away from goal and I'd like to reach it by my 2nd surgiversary. My new "Reward" is a trip to visit family and go clothes shopping with my Step Mom. Have you reached goal? Are you close to it and getting frustrated? Does your body react badly to the "cheats"? Can you get yourself back on track? It is possible to slide backwards - think about that the next time you're reaching for something you really shouldn't have. I understand it's a constant struggle to turn off the voice in your head that says "Go ahead! You've worked very hard! You can have one"..... Sometimes, you just have to tell that jerk to go away.

    Getting Enough Water

Sip... don't gulp. Keep a cup next to you at all times. I NEVER drank Water before my surgery - it was always soda. I'm up to 2 gallons a day. I flavor it also and would not be able to do it without flavoring it. You can do it!
  10. Because of Diabetes medicine I was on, I felt as if I was forcing myself to eat to make sure my sugar didn't plummet. After a discussion with my Primary Dr. it was determined I should NOT force myself to eat and only take the meds 1x a day. There is only so much food we can get in now. If you are taking Vitamins and supplements and can still get in Protein, you're doing fine. Eventually you will have to alter what you are eating from the losing stage to the maintenance stage. This is where your Nutritionist will be able to help. Best of luck to you and keep up the good work!
  11. I was amazed after I went on my first post weight loss flight. We had traveled about two weeks before more surgery and I had to use a seat belt extender, couldn't use the bathroom on the plane and board the plane first because I had so much trouble walking. 3 months and 70 lbs later I was on a cross country trip, no extender and could go potty with room to spare! It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you have a wonderful trip and don't cry on the plane like I did.
  12. Best response I've gotten after visiting a relative after a lot of weight loss - he said "Is the rest of you coming tomorrow?" My face has gotten remarkably smaller and I've cut off my long curly locks. It takes a few seconds, but most of the time people remember my face.

    Feeling cold.

Perfectly normal after surgery. I live in Florida and I'm cold most of the time as well.
  14. PokeyJo

    Freezing!

Yes, absolutely! I don't remember how long it took me to be cold all the time but it's normal now. keep a lightweight jacket with you. Another weird sensation as you get further out is a runny nose when you're full.
