  1. It's actually powdered Peanut Butter with much less fat and calories (85% less I think). You can reconstitute it into peanut butter by adding Water or add it to shakes, etc. It also comes in a peanut butter chocolate flavor. Found it in the peanut butter aisle or it's also available on Amazon.
  2. I'm on day six now... Just made indian food for my family with homemade paratha. Like torture but I am dutifully drinking my protein shake! On the upside, I found PB2- added a tsp to my shake and that helps a lot. Also bought some sf popsicles... Never thought I'd look forward to eating one! Yes it completely sucks but we've got this!!!!
  3. Hi BC22- I'm also October 15th & there are several others on that day as well. There are also at least two other threads started for October Sleevers... There are a LOT of other people having surgery this month! I think that your surgeon will give you clearance for something like kickboxing after 3-4 months out if I'm not mistaken...
  4. Maybe i was retaining water, not sure, but as of this morning~ day 6, I've lost 12 pounds! One week to go...
  5. Thank you! Not fun but I'm doing it! Wonder if it will continue to go this quick before surgery on the 15th...
  6. Charlie, typically they put you on a high Protein liquid diet before surgery to shrink/improve the quality of your liver prior to surgery. I could be wrong but it may have to do with your BMI? Most people on this forum have to do it but I know that I've read that some people don't. I had to get a special 'Bariatric Advantage' protein Meal Replacement powder.
  7. You know what's crazy? I started my pre-op diet on October second and I've already lost 10 pounds! Not exercising or anything- just sticking to my diet exactly. My diet consists of 3 Protein shakes and 2- 100 calorie yogurts. Still have 9 more days before surgery.
  8. I'm surprised that I haven't heard of this yet. Is it not that widely available in the states? When I went to the weight loss seminar, there was no mention of this as an option and the practice I am going to have been at this for 10-12 years... I wonder why?

  10. Wow- best of luck to you Monday people! I sure am nervous too... It has to be a natural reaction to an elective (but so necessary) surgery. 9 days and counting for me but with all of this anxiety it's a damn good thing I'm on this 2 week liquid diet... I would have gained 10 instead of losing 10lbs. Kind of feel like I'm standing on the edge of a cliff with safety below... So grateful for the people on this forum!

  12. I'm on day 5 of my pre op diet and I've lost 10 pounds already... Crazy!

  14. Beautiful lady! Congratulations on all your success!

  16. Very glad to hear that you're feeling better!!!
  17. It took about 2 & 1/2 weeks for me- depends on the insurance company. I have UHC.
  18. I have a 3,000 max out of pocket with my insurance which kind of sucks but it beats the $30,000 that he will be billing the insurance company... Wonder what their negotiated rate will be.
  19. Oh goody... I'll be getting the 1/2 dozen then! What's one extra, really...
  20. Just started my preoperative diet today... 3 shakes, 2- 100 cal yogurts in between. I was doing fine, then my son came home and wanted a snack so I poured him a small bowl of goldfish crackers... Caught myself almost putting a few in my mouth.... Old habits!!!
  21. Good plan- wonder if they'd help older scars?
  22. After my attempted WLS in 2007, I still have lots of scarring. Maybe the scars are worse because I never lost the weight, and my excess weight put strain on the incision sights and they stretched- because I had a laparoscopic converted to an open procedure, I had staples everywhere. The scars aren't keloid but they widened. Looks like I'll have several more but I really don't mind at this point... We'll see what happens after actual weight loss this time! BTW, I had used mederma for a different scar and it didn't help so much but steroid injections did. You may want to consult a dermatologist, maybe there is a prescription strength topical that can help?
  23. Hi Idbain, Oct 15th here as well- Connecticut. Is it just me or does there seem to be a really large # of people for October? I seem to remember someone taking the time to compile a master list on one of the October sleever threads. Anyway, it'll be great to see everyone's progress along the way!
  24. I went through the same thing... My pre-op diet starts tomorrow so today I had waffles for breakfast and spaghetti for lunch! Felt guilty and had a protein bar for dinner. Sayonara carbohydrates.
  25. I'm now a stay at home mom, but taught art on the elementary and middle school level for many years... Still making art but hoping that I'll feel much better so I can get back to teaching! Starting my preoperative diet tomorrow...
