MzGee reacted to jamill527 in 9 months post op w/pic
Tomorrow makes 9 months that I started this journey. This has been an emotional but blessed journey for me. I'm loving my transformation but I have to admit it has been mentally draining. My Hw was 303 and my Cw is 217. My goal weight is 150lbs but it doesn't look like I'm going to reach it because I've been stalled at 217 for 3 months now, and it's very frustrating because I have no clue what to do to start losing again. Anybody with some advice please Help me! Here's a few pics.

MzGee reacted to agirlnamedfrankie in Post Op Blues?
I totally know what you mean. It's kind of a harsh wake-up call realizing how much of my life is focused around eating and how few other non-food activities sound like fun. I'll be fine and then see something like a simple photo on FB of someone having a pizza and beer for dinner and it feels terrible to not be able to just relax into that comfort. It's starting to get a bit better, though, and I can see glimpses of light as I get closer to being able to eat any sort of regular food. But yes, it's so frustrating and I've been way more emotional than usual post-surgery which I hear is common. Looking forward to getting out of that limbo where food can no longer be my comfort but I'm not yet obsessed with exercise or other active stuff.
Oh, and my doc requires 1 week of Clear Liquids and 2 of full liquids post-op so you're not alone there either.

I'm a year and 2months post surgery and the best advice I can give is communicate all fears up front and be understanding...I wish I had gotten that advice...I lost 80 lbs in the first 7 months and it really screwed with my head...I thought I was going to be showered with affection from my fiancé once the weight began to fall off and that didn't happen..as my self esteem got higher he seemed more distant and the only positive affection I was getting was from other people...and when you are having your ego inflated by other men....it's trouble ....I wish so much that he and I had been upfront about what we were feeling

MzGee reacted to Gianacruz in 6 weeks post op and lost 35 lbs
I'm 6 weeks post op and lost about 35lbs all together but 25lbs were from the 2 week pre op diet...I'm pretty frustrated but I think I wasn't shedding the weight off because I was not following the post op diet. This doesn't mean I was eating bad stuff but I did start soft foods about a week after. I stayed away from carbs and focused of Protein and I drank as much Water as I could but working 8 hours a day at my job is impossible to consume the amount of water I SHOULD have a day. I want to know of anyone else has done this and maybe some advice. I was very careful with eating but I know I took a chance on creating a leak, I don't recommend it for ppl but I'm not a fan of Soups so they got sickening fast and I couldn't drink Protein Shakes til about 3 weeks after. It was to thick it would just come back up.

MzGee reacted to 3in1wOL in August Sleevers Check In
stacyfae, I had my surgery on the 5th as well. I can't say I am struggling with the Protein Shakes, but I have been experiencing "head" hunger. At these times I have to find something else to do--walk a bit outside, watch a movie--stay away from commercial TV since there are so many food commercials, read a book, write in a journal. Our tummies need to heal. And unfortunately the reasons we are overweight do not go away with the surgery--it is going to be tough at times--we need to find new ways to deal with life. Keep on plugging away and you will overcome the wants --- onward to success!!

I had my VSG done on 8/05 and I'm doing well. I'm seriously mourning real food! I'm actually emotional about it which I never expected. I prepared for surgery for 8 months and it's not what I expected. I need more ideas

MzGee reacted to Stacyfae in August Sleevers Check In
I had my VSG surgery 08/05, I was super excited for the this new journey in my life and took the last 8 months to prepare for this. I'm an emotional mess today because I'm mourning food...I'm not hungry at all but I'm tired of what I've got for the next few weeks to eat. I'm not a sweets girl I'm more a savory food person and want that! I'm open to any ideas and I need to know if anyone else is having these issues too.

MzGee reacted to sarah92200 in Best multivitamin for early post op
Thx everyone for all the good input! I as we'll have to bring my Vitamins in, as my nut said no Flinstones either ! Every surgeon is so different! I went ahead and ordered chewable multi Vitamin from bariatric choice! Just a 30 day supply , so if I don't like them , I'll try a new kind! Happy Monday all, one day closer to my rebirth ! ????

Well, MzGee, I have good news, the surgery really helps. I know I wouldn't have believed anyone else before the procedure, so I hesitate to say it. All that good anxiety (and food funeral) wasted. I find I can eat almost any type of food, just a much smaller portion and I can breathe a whole lot better. So, take a deep breath and do what the doctor and nutritionist tell you to do, so you can get to a better place! Good luck!

MzGee reacted to gmanbat in Sleeve doubles in size after 1 year?
After surgery very little can be eaten due to swelling. From that point to a year a doubling in capacity would be true. I do believe my ego has doubled, though.
