Day 2 of pre op liquid diet. OMG..... it has just amazed me just how much of my time is taken up with food. Buying it, fixing it and consuming it. I am not hungry, but somehow just don't know what to do with myself in front of the TV. Lovely day here, going to get out and take a walk.

I'm on day 4. 3 shakes + Jello + SF popsicles….I had a headache off and on until today and I was very hungry, but today not so much. I'm not sure if it is my body adjusting or what. I hope it gets easier for you too!

Good luck to you all. I was August of last year. This has been the best thing I have ever done. I am down to 134.5 pounds as of this morning. I exercise regularly. I have a confidence and esteem I never had before. What I have learned on this journey I have been able to bring to other areas of my life. Life is just getting better and better. I wish you all the same!!

    Greetings all!
I don't post much but I lurk a lot and see how you are all doing. Good luck to all the newbies and those getting sleeved soon!
I was sleeved 12/10/12. I consider myself a slow loser as I'm still 50-60lbs from my goal weight. But I'm down a 103lbs and couldn't be happier! I'm in a way better place than I was 18 months ago.
We got pregnant last august and lost it in September and I haven't lost a pound since. No matter what I do i can't seem to get my weight loss started again.
I am seeing a new dr now who is helping me get my gut healed. I have leaky gut and am not digesting properly. On the plus side I haven't gained any weight which is key to being a success!
I just wanted to share because not all of us lose 150lbs in 6 months and attain goal quickly. I of course would of loved too but my body has other plans.
    SW: 332 CW: 229 was 26/28 now 14/16. I'm 5'8".

MzGee reacted to garayjoh in 4 weeks Post Op, Hello everyone.
So, My name is John, 37 year old father/husband who is now 4 weeks post vertical sleeve. I am doing great, honestly & strangely. I actually reacted very well to the surgery, no pain, no nausea, no discomfort, but yes, SO tiered due to low calorie. It took me two years to finally get approved for the sleeve. I failed the first time around since the clinic I was working with did not
I had my surgery May 13th 2014 at the Valley hospital in Northern New Jersey. I selected them since through Aetna, they are designated as a center of excellence. I was operated on by Dr. Marc Bessler (You can YouTube him). The metabolic clinic handled all of my paper work. My first visit with him was late December, and I opted for the three month approval process which entailed three months of supervised nutrition/Nurse Visits at their office/ and psychological therapy for evaluation. I was also ordered to undergo sleep tests which uncovered sleep Apeena. I really credit this with being the tipping point for approval.
My height was registered as 5'10" but in truth I am 5'11". My heights weight was 324lbs. Once I was approved, I met with Dr. Bessler and let him know I wanted this operation to occur ASAP, he was able to identify an opening, but that only gave me 1 week to perform a liquid fast in order to drop weight prior to the operation. I was able to drop from 324 lbs - 295 lbs.
Since my operation I have learned many things. First, I am never hungry, but I still feel urges to empty a huge bag of chips into my mouth at night. In order to combat this, I jump on the elliptical and get my work out on. Since I am 4 weeks out, I have been incorporating soft foods, and yea, I eat less then my three year old. The weight is dropping steady. I am now down a total of 55 lbs. My waist has gone down from a 46 to a 38. I am excited, but I am learning that my life will never be the same again. Its summer now, and I am only able to eat about 1/2 of a hot dog with the bun and I feel Thanksgiving stuffed. liquids and foods at the same time equals a speedy trip to the bathroom for the seconding coming of what ever I ingested. I understand it gets easier, but in truth I am not complaining.
Prior to my operation I was unable to sleep in my bed, the body pain was horrible. I was sleeping on the couch which I had tweaked with heavy plywood boards to support my weight. I was using a CPAC machine to ensure I would not stop breathing throughout the night as the thickness of my neck was collapsing my air way. I am now able to sleep next to my beautiful 7 month pregnant wife and I wake feeling refreshed. I am finally popping out of bed full of energy. Yea, I am one of those mentally deranged morning persons. All in all, I feel great.
Anyway folks, since I am always pulling inspiration from these forums, I figured it was only right for me to actually say something.
Thank you all for being open about your journey.
    Stay positive
    John.

MzGee got a reaction from Ms24 in Surgery this morning BA/BL, arm lift and full tummy tuck!
I haven't had my WLS yet but in my insurance book it says they cover a body lift, if you've lost 100 lbs and kept it off for 12 months, but in the approval letter from them for WLS sleeve it says any subsequent surgery will be viewed as cosmetic and not covered, they say contradictory things. I just hope something will be covered when I make it to this point.

I had surgery July 2, 2013 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. I started this process at a high weight of 330lbs size 26-28, 4x women's. I am now 173 lbs and still losing, although more slowly for sure. I can now wear a size 12 and a size large shirt and dresses and I have such a fun time trying on and buying clothes now! Ann Taylor, banana Republic, The Limited etc- I now fit size 12 petite! I think I've developed a clothing addiction- good thing I swear by thrift stores! I'm running now, joining a rowing team and gardening up a storm. I get 1000-1200 calories per day and get 80 grams of Protein with that. My side by side before pic is from Feb. 2013 and the after pic is July 2, 2014- my 1st surgery anniversary. I'm still trying to lose about 20 more lbs, but even if I don't lose any more weight, I'm totally fine with that. .

I am so excited to have my sleeve surgery Aug 12th! I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17 and have had weight issues all my life. My cycles have been all over the place, from having a constant cycle for 8 months straight, to having no cycles for 4 months at a time. On and off B/C pills to control symptoms, but now I have been trying to conceive for the past two years with no success. Obese, infertile, and hairy do not make for a very positive self-image. With a supportive husband and a strong will to succeed, I'm looking forward to getting sleeved and starting our family!
