I had my surgery 15 months ago and I have lost 133 lbs, we are building our dream home, a log cabin and I was climbing the ladder (something that I couldn't do before at 334 lbs) to look in the loft and my husband took this photo, sometimes I still can't believe it's me, the first pic is on surgery day.
Sent from Gaye's iPad Mini using VST

I live in Durant, but going to have my surgery in Norman thru Journey Clinic and Dr Lana Nelson. Looks like it'll be around December for me.

I will be using Dr Lana Nelson in Norman, also. She did my lapband several years ago and I love her!

I am considering coordinating a WLS support group in my area since there doesn't seem to be anything in my area. So far, I have one other person interested. I live in McAlester, by the way.

ShrinkyDinkMe101 got a reaction from KenneKat in Any Oklahoma Sleevers
Apartments near Whole Foods: 1 1/2 miles north on Yale are Ridge Park, The Lodge, Pepper Tree & The Vintage, 1 1/2 miles west on 91st are Lakewood & Crown Chase. There are also apartments at the corner of 101st & Sheridan (about 2 miles), but I didn't get the name. This should cover a variety of rental rates from luxury to mid/low. Good luck with your apartment search! Can't wait for the store to open

Greenbriar is in the iffy area west of Southern Hills Country Club. I don't know about the complex specifically, but that area has had a lot of crime in the last few years.

I'm so excited for Whole Foods to open on my end of town! Are you looking for an apartment? There are some apartments and condos about a mile and a half away at 91st by my tennis club, The Grand. I'm blanking out on the cross street, but it's close to Riverside. I don't rent, so I couldn't tell you prices, but I had two friends who have lived in the complex behind the club. They've both moved out of town though. Let me know if you have any other questions. Will the Whole Foods have the hot food bar? Fingers are crossed...I hate cooking!

I'd avoid anything north of Admiral, east of Mingo (above 51st), and west of the river (above 51st). The area west of Southern Hills Country Club is pretty bad. Hip areas include Brookside, Downtown, Cherry Street (15th Street), and the Pearl District. In suburban areas, midtown has more crime than far southern areas. You can get just about anywhere in town in 20 minutes. I love Tulsa!

Diary of a Fat man.
All my life I have been heavy, fat, overweight. It's simple, I eat too much and I stay fat. What's not simple is changing that pattern. I've dieted many times and they work each time, but eventually they don't and the cycle continues. I have tied exercising regularly until my overweight body said no more!
So here I am I'm my Mid 50s father of an active 2 year old. My large body aches it creaks and weighs the same as 2 over weight 20 year olds. So what do I do? get another diet because the next time "it will work"? Exercise until I injure myself and can't recover? That's why I decided to look into an alternative way.
On Tuesday October 1st I'm scheduled for the sleeve. To some it probably seems like a cop-out - the lazy way out. Sure they can believe that if they want, but the truth is, after 40 years of being the big guy, barely able to sit in an airplane seat, out of breath after a few steps embarrassed at my size and memories of constant teasing as a child, It's time to take a radical step.
You see, I don't want my son to grow up fat I don't want him embarrassed at his Dad's size I want to run along side of him, I want to be around for him. I want to live a healthy lifestyle and raise him him up in one. I want to be a good husband for my wife to stay as young as my body allows. To be there for her, to support her, to be a active partner for her.
I want this for me for ALL the reasons I stated. I want to take the fat kid I was show him there is a way. To take the fat teenager I was and push through the embarrassment I felt. To take the fat adult I am and get to a point I can embrace life with open arms again.

I hit Onederland today (199.4) at 7 1/2 weeks out. I'm down 42 pounds overall (14 pre-surgery). I'm so excited about this milestone! I'm playing my first tennis match since surgery tonight & my tennis clothes look so much better . Weight loss has slowed down to a crawl though...I thought I'd be posting this a week ago!
