Please Let The Hair Loss Stop!

Ugh! I'm not quite up to 3 months out yet, and my hair loss it terrible!!! I lose handfulls every time I wash, brush, or even comb my fingers through my hair! I was blessed to have really thick hair, so it's not noticeable yet. But, I am fearful every day that I'm going to wake up with a bald spot! Am taking Biotin and my doctor friend suggested eating concentrated Jello for the gelatin. Anyone else heard of that?
  2. We are at the Marriott now, but nobody is feeling up to an outing at this point. We are thinking about going tomorrow though.
  3. This morning, I am down a total of 8lbs! I try to only weigh in the mornings. I Don't want to psych myself out by weighing after I've been drinking water & eating. I'm feeling alot better & more in control today. In 1 week I will be starting a totally new life, and I couldn't be happier about it! Will be looking for you in the halls bigintexas!
  4. Chickadee73, I am craving food of any kind actually. I think my protein drink tastes sweet enough to keep away the sweet cravings, because what I REALLY want is some kind of meat and potatoes combo... Craving carbs for sure!!! We will get through this!!!

    I can't do it.

I am on day 2 of the pre-op diet. I'm having surgery on the 28th with Dr. Garcia. I woke up HUNGRY this morning, with a terrible headache, and down 3lbs. I took 2 Tylenol, drank some Water, when I got to work, INHALED my first Protein shake, and started thinking about why I am doing this. I want to be here to watch my grandkids grow up and I want to feel good about my own body. I want to be able to cross my legs, I want to walk up a flight of stairs without running out of breath. There are countless other reasons... Chickadee, WE CAN do this!!!!
  6. I'll be there on the 28th with Islandlife! Started the pre-op diet yesterday. Very excited!!! See you there!

    The Journey Begins

Hi Mocha, Thanks for sharing your story! I will be having surgery myself on August 28th! I have the same problem, in that, the surgery is ALL I ever think of. My husband is super supportive, but sometimes tires of hearing me talk about it constantly, lol. I'm slowly changing my eating habits as well. I've stopped drinking any sodas, don't drink while I eat, and have substituted Breakfast every day with a Protein shake. I look forward to sharing my journey and also reading about yours as well!

    Tijuana Bariatrics

I have signed up with Tijuana Bariatrics. My surgery date is 8/28. Alisha has been great so far! Will keep everyone posted.
  10. Oh, and go scuba diving without needing 20lbs of weight to get down, or feeling like a whale squeezing into my rash guard!
  11. I can't wait to be able to: Go to a theme park and not worry about fitting on the rides. Cross my legs. Play in the floor with grandkids, then be able to get up! Fly on an airplane without worrying if I'm going to need a seatbelt extender. Run in a 5k or half marathon. Paint my toes comfortably.

    August sleevers?

I am a little over 5 weeks pre-op and have stopped drinking sodas. Also, I have been practicing not drinking within 30 min before, during or 30 min after eating. (That one is not as hard as I thought it would be. I just have to keep the glass out of my reach so I don't drink without thinking) I drink a Protein shake for Breakfast, and have started taking Fiber, Calcium and a multi-vitamin. I haven't changed my diet in any other way though, so no weight loss at the moment. I feel like I get fuller faster when not drinking and eating together, but wonder if it's all in my head? One thing I suffer from is "last meal syndrome" At the moment, I live on an island that's about 2,000 miles from any major restaraunts, so that helps, but I still feel the need to eat my favorite foods (baked potatoes with the works, Homemade salsa & chips, YUM) as often as possible... I even have a dinner party planned on the night before I start my pre-op diet of grilled shrimp, steak, and loaded baked potatoes, so I can "go out" with a bang. Anyone else have this problem??
  13. You look great! Definitely gives me something to look forward to. Surgery scheduled for 8/28, and I can't wait!
  14. Thank you for sharing your journey as well as your sisters. It sounds like she was a remarkable woman. I look forward to reading the rest of your story.
