Besides the obvious (being overly fluffy), I had diabetes, high cholesterol, my knees and feet bother me. I'm two months post op and I'm off all my meds, my knees and my feet do not bother me near as much. All this has happened with the loss of just 40 lbs! Oh and now, I get to buy cute SMALLER clothes!!

I was sick and tired of being sick and tired!

In a nutshell.
Back hurts. Knees hurt. Arches of feet hurt. Short of breath. Sluggish. Self-conscious. HBP. Miserable. Self-Isolation from family and friends. Depression. History of female cancer(s). History of diabetes and death in my immediate family. Plain old disgusted with my image.

I don't think I have a va jay jay, but for me it was diabetes, hypertension, liver failure, kidney failure...etc. Just tons and tons of health problems.

Great day went to the doctor today and she said im whipping the sleeves ass lol down 54 pounds since June 4th.

I haven't learned the angles either. Mine is my usual fat face taken a week into the liquid pre-op I think. And I ain't 21 I have to learn the tricks too!

Fantastic and keep us updated will you ! France makes better sense you're only hours away from home. Really looking forward to hearing how you get in and your progress. I am scheduled October 5th with Dr Illan - I did a lot of checking around and he was my choice too. Omar is my coordinator and he is something of a "legend" as he clearly cares and goes the extra mile. There are a lot of great surgeons to choose from so take your time, ask around and go with your instincts. Good Luck to you !!

Not necessarily. The surgeons in Mexico are performing these procedures at a prolific level so experience is not lacking. But unlike the United States, their extraneous costs are considerably lower. As far as why surgeons in Mexico vary by a couple of thousand dollars, I cannot really say.

Yep, that's right, me the big worrier, the chicken has just booked her flights !! - no going back now !!
Also, finally got up the gumption to go see my PSP and tell him about my upcoming trip to Mexico for surgery and received an awesome response, he was totally on board, in fact he had also traveled to Mexico recently to research surgery for his own heart condition so he was extremely receptive.
Surprisingly, considering my abject terror at times, I felt great booking the flights and maybe I'm turning a corner here and getting more comfortable with this choice after all - hope so ...

So my gastric sleeve story..... well I have never been extremely small but I was once fit and after 3 kids and a bad marraige, II was on the way to find myself again. I lost 46 pounds and was feeling great, that is when life changed forever. My son was diagnosed with cancer and a three year battle began. He lost that battle just over a year ago and I have been unable to find my way back to me again. The weight has piled on through the sadness and was now affecting my daily activites. So here I am. Post Op day 2..... It was a long journey but I am here now and on the road to a new me.

Just wanted to share that I am 2 months post-op as of yesterday. I was sleeved on July 18, 2013. If you go by the weeks this is my eighth week. I am officially down from 321 lbs as of day 2 PO to 282 lbs today!!! Making my total loss so far 39 lbs!!! I am loving my weight loss & my sleeve!!! I was really hoping to make it to 40lbs down but I was only one pound off from it so I will take my 39 lb loss & I can't wait to see what next months results are here are some pics of my progress so far

I posted a review here on my experiences with Dr. Alvarez. Very, very positive experience. You should create a checklist of what factors you care about, and then evaluate doctors against it.

Hello - were you two from the US? I'm seriously looking at Mexico for my sleeve as well. I have 4 friends who had their sleeves in Vegas for $12k self pay. They look great but if I can save the money & still have a great surgeon I'm up for it.

that's true! Dr. Illan and his team are the best in MY opinion as a patient. From the hospital to the nurses to the surgeon team and of course Omar. Excellent every step of the way. I was sleeved 8/31/13 and would recommend him to my family & friends Good luck on your journey!!!! My pic is me and Dr. Illan.

I doubt you get an unbiased opinion. Those of us who loved our surgeons are going to recommend them like crazy! You need to read through the forums and get a feel for what people say, good and bad. Also, talking to a couple doctors I had narrowed it down to really helped. In the end, I used Dr. Illan and I couldn’t be happier. Nobody can decide for you though and you need to make the best, informed decision you can make for you.

Glad i'm not alone here. I am back and forth on this and second guessing myself constantly. Sometimes I actually sweat a little over it when the enormity hits me. But I want to put one thing in your head now that has worked for me. Whenever I'm in panic mode over what I'm about to do, i imagine that this surgery isn't even available - and that really panics me. Imagine you don't even have this option. For the foreseeable future - all you have is either get bigger or join weight watchers, or Jenny Craig - that is even scarier than the surgery !! - good luck

I got preregistered with the hospital today. Tomorrow is all the preop stuff at the doctors office. Should get a phone call tomorrow about what time to report to the hospital on Monday. Still wondering if I'm crazy or just down to my last option and don't care anymore?
