I'll echo what others are saying about the seriousness of not cheating. But here's another thing. It seems even harder after surgery. I did 2 weeks of liquid with little problem. I'm seven days post-op and all I think of is eating something. Anything. Everything. Biting into crisp, gooey things, I want food!!
And I can't have any. For THREE MORE WEEKS. One week of Clear liquids, 2 weeks of full liquids, 1 week of puréed food, and only then, solids.
Unless of course I want to rupture my stomach and die of leaks or something.
This is serious sh*t. If you can't make it pre-op ask yourself how you intend to do the post-op, where cheating carries with it very, very, serious health risks.

I'm not sure what kind of encouragement you need?? is it to get back on track? Did you blow a pre op diet? If so, I would ask why you had a cheeseburger? I doubt that you were literally "starving" so lets just say you were hungry? Or perhaps you craving a hamburger? If you were hungry is there something other than a hamburger you could of eaten? Or had you eaten all of your "food" for the day?
This pre op "diet" and post op "diet" are different than all of the other diets you have done. So cheating really shouldn't be an option. You are trying to get your body (liver) ready for surgery. And post op the long torturous liquid diet is to let your stomach heal.. So my encouragement is... Its time to get your head in the game because you will need it there for now on if you want to be successful in this..

My BMI is over 50, and I don't have an all liquid pre op. My surgery is only 3 days away. Getting excited.

The preop is all their food, so if you stick to it, you really don't cheat because its all theirs. Also, they know what outré eating and can tell by your weight if you've varied from the plan.
The NUT will go with you through ordering foods from the store to cover the 2 weeks and then you get them at the end.
IMO, stay far away from the broccoli cheese Soup and most Soups. The meals are pretty good esp the pot roast is very good. Most of the bars are decent. Jello is Jello.
You will get through it, it's much easier than the liquid post op two weeks.

Day 2 sucks! I totally agree. Each day gets better and better. Honest it does. I think day 5 was the 1st day I went to run an errand. Not a big trip but really started feeling better after that. By 2 weeks out I was back at work & feeling pretty normal. Now I don't even feel I like had surgery:) Good luck with your journey!

Congrats on a date, gardengirl. I had dr. Foote also and he's just great. 7 weeks now and starting to feel pretty good, except diarrhea issues that we're working on.

Thank so much, lady! I know, I'm VERY lucky! My Annual Pass absolutely pays for itself since I go so often. Avoiding all of the yummy treats was hard...especially since everything SMELLS so good and it wafts everywhere, haha...but I'm proud that I was able to do it! I started my liquid diet this morning and it's nice to go into it with that increased confidence.

Hi everyone. My surgery was 2/25/13. HW 340, DOS 301, CW 230. I'm 5 months out and 110 lbs down. From 26/28 to 14/16. Most people don't recognize me. My own father walked past me and didn't know who I was. I'm doing things I could never do before. I love my sleeve.

I'll get real and be the mean one. If I ate mac and cheese post op I wouldn't be as close as I am to my goal. It's taken soooo long to get where I am and I've stayed away from crap food.. Can't imagine where I'd be if I ate things like Mac n cheese. I'll treat myself to small delights after I get to goal, but I didn't get sleeved so I could eat like I did with my prior lifestyle.
In order to succeed .. I had to change my old eating habits to healthy ones. To answer you question.. in my opinion, when you hit goal.
    Best of luck to you

Surgery was yesterday. I just got home. :-). Everything went really well! Lost 29.7 lbs on the liquid diet. My dr said had not been so faithful on the diet, he would not have been able to do the surgery as my liver was still enlarged! He had to make a couple extra cuts, I have 8. But the only pain medication I had was for the 2 hr trip home. I had to walk 20 laps (which equaled 2 miles) before I could go home. I'm also an a clear liquid diet till my follow up with him a week from today. So thankful for all of your prayers and encouragement! So glad to be on the losers bench!!
