Finally made a Protein Shake I really enjoy!! In a blender put 6-8 ounces of skim milk two Splenda packets a couple of drops of vanilla extract some ice cubes and one scoop of chocolate Pure Protein whey powder. You can purchase the Pure Protein in a 2 lb. tub for 19.99 at Walmart. Blend on liquiefy and it makes the BEST chocolate protein shake. I tried it in a shaker before and I couldn't stand the smell!! My new way in the blender is like a Frosty from Wendy's!! I am 4 days postoperative and now pain free, good luck everyone!!!

I live on Long Island and July 7 will make one year since I have had the surgery. Weight loss has been slow (but that is my own decision) yet I am so very happy with my progress.
I have to say I feel like a new woman. Here is some funny irony: I met someone who LIKES "thick" women....hahaha So he loved me the way I am--where the hell was he when I felt like a whale? But none of that matters because I am going to continue to lose weight and feel good about myself. He loves me either way.

Really look at yourself and determine when and why your are eating around the band. Are you sleepy and sweets late at night help you stay up? If so,then "GO TO BED" . Are you really hungry? If so, eat foods that are filling and packed with Protein. tuna is a great one. What you don't want to do is get in a funk. Don't beat yourself up. "Keep it moving" you have to determine what your bad habbits are and the reason for them before you can break them. The band wont help us with the mental changes that we have to make, neither will your doc holding your fills hostage lol. . Good Luck!

I was Banded in 2009 (July) too and I did lose 84 lbs and have maintained it for the past 9 months, but I have never made it to my goal. Next week will be 2 years for me and I am going to lose the last 20 lbs I will lose it!. I bought new Vitamins, splurged on a weeks worth of my favorite protien shakes that I started out on. Gonna make me an exersice chart and I am gonna lose those 20 lbs. No matter how long it takes. Anyone want to join me??

Down 12 pounds in 11 days. I encourage everyone to look in to south beach. It's tough until you get used to it then it gets easier. And the food you can eat is what bandsters are supposed to be eating anyway. The spinach quiche are very good. I am feeling more encouraged and motivated each day. Removing the carbs and sugars has given me renewed energy and I have started being more active again. For anyone else in my situation, don't give up, do the pouch test and try south beach. Get greedy for the compliments. I am looking forward to people telling me how thin I'm looking and asking me how much I've lost again.

The posts here have got me thinking about the whole moral issue of telling the truth and telling lies. In modern culture from birth we are given mixed messages (you MUST tell the truth at all times, or Santa wont be coming down the chimney this year to give you lots of presents lol) which is why some of us, when we contemplate these situations in any sphere of our lives are not sure what we should do.
A microscope that only shows things 50x (I dont have a big appetite, I am a picky eater or some foods make me feel sick) is just as accurate as a microscope that shows things at 100x (I used to be obese and had a gastric band fitted to help me to lose weight so now when i eat yada yada yada) they are just showing things at different magnifications. Again, sometimes, when you look at something magnified 100x you are less likely to know what it is you are looking at than when you are looking at things focused 50x, sometimes giving too much detail can create confusion rather than clarity.
So, there would be nothing dishonest about not mentioning it. Infact, i do not see why you ever need to tell anyone if you didnt want to, unless somehow not knowing put them at risk/affected your relationship or you were in some sort of risk or needed their support.
Loving my microscope analogy, if i achieve nothing else in life i have this hahahahaha :rolleyes2:
