sherisleeve got a reaction from TES in Has the sleeve not worked for you?
I LOVE THIS SITE!!! I would have struggled alone thinking I am the only one who feels this way, but it seems there are a lot of different reactions to the sleeve and none of us are alone. I lost a lot at first and will be 3 weeks Monday, I am forcing myself to only weigh once a week now, and just try very hard to stick to the guidelines, if I mess up or fall short in the Water or Proteins, I forgive myself and keep on going. for you who are struggling, we are not alone, and it will pay off. just be healthy and happy and know it will work out.

sherisleeve got a reaction from NancyG in June 2013 Sleevers GROUP
HI. I am now 6 weeks 4 days out from my sleeve. NOW, I feel like this is a strange question so soon after surgery. but I am just now able to eat ALMOST normal. And I feel like I am eating too much and am kind of scared. I get a little owey if I get a bite or two too much, but never feel sick or anything. My surgeon told me yesterday that I can have as much as 900 calories, and I think I am a bit under that. But still feel worried. Is any June sleevers experiencing that?

I don't like having my picture taken, so I don't have many before pics (especially at my highest weight right before surgery - 244 lbs.), but I want to share my journey so far. So here goes, a before pic and an after pic at 2 months out (at 201 lbs). It's not the best pic/lighting, so don't judge my camera skills. I haven't taken a body shot yet, but I'll post that when I do. Mainly I wanted to show how much you can see it in my face. It's surreal to see the side by side!

I'm on the other coast so I don't have a referral for you. But I didn't like the Nut during my 6 month pre-qual phase. She too was no bigger than a size 2 and never had weight issues. In fact, most of us couldn't stand her because she was so judgemental and rude to those of us seeing her for WLS.
After a while I decided I'd do the best I could and follow all the rules just because she seemed like she was looking for all of us to fail. Some people eventually did leave the process and waited for an opening with another Nut. I was determined to stay the course and not start all over.
In the long run, I actually am glad I had her. It took me months to feel this way. I used my dislike of her to prove her wrong that I couldn't stay the course. The smug look on her face each time I showed up and had followed my plan...priceless!

Came to hospital for 6 am but they didn't take me back till like 9am. Got my medicine and it was lights out! Don't remember anything besides waking up in pain just burning in my chest. I was able to sleep for an hour and woke up feeling better. Just got finished walking down the hall!

It might not look appetizing, but everything tastes just as good as the unpureed version.
My first meals were deviled eggs, applesauce, tuna salad, chicken thighs, and bananas. I dreamed about the deviled eggs.< /p>

I'm in the soft/puréed stage so I guess that means I don't have to purée stuff all the time? I have not been getting nearly enough calories in so I had some soft scrambled eggs with cheese! OMG it was heaven and went down easy! I think things are starting to look up now that I got my reflux meds switched! I will be 3 weeks out on tues. maybe I'm just healing as well!

Straight from liquids to soft foods here, and I'll be transitioning this weekend as well. Basically, my requirements are that I be able to mash it with a fork, that it's not too fibrous, and no bread, no white Pasta, no seeds. Two weeks of that and then I'm ready for regular food.
So far I seem to be the sleeve of steel type, too. I'm not sure if that's good or bad!

Sorry to say that I still struggle with this, and I had a band for almost 6 years. The difference is if I overeat it's only a couple of bites vs a couple of servings.

I named this brain pain and got a chuckle, but it is so true. I am nearly 5 weeks post op. It seems that now I do "FEEL" the effects of the sleeve more than I did when I was on full fluids. This is the thing though, I sit down to my little half cup of "whatever", just happy to have something that feels like food. As many of us do, I LOVE FOOD, and try to make it enjoyable. BUT, I am eating away and BAM...my stomach stops me. I KNOW, lol, that's why I had surgery, right? But my brain, it is still going "ohhh yum..I am enjoying this, noooooooooooo I don't WANT to stop". But I do, of course. Just that past few days, the power of what my head wants kind of scares me. Like crap, am I ever going to get my head caught up with my stomach, and just be content? I don't want to be a year out and fail. It is working now because of my tiny new stomach, but later? Any good advice on how to get my brain right?

Patience...your doing everything right. I stalled at three weeks for like 2 weeks. I have seen it on here a million times the exact same post. Now you look at their stats 2,3,4 5 months down the road and they have lost 40,50 plus pounds. Some even more. The anticipation of the surgery, the eating next to nothing for so long, in our minds the expectation is that we have the surgery and then BAM we should loose 30 pounds the first 2 weeks..lol Well I did loose 20 in the first month. But its really a numbers game that is slow and steady. The one day you look back and whew 50 pounds is gone

I keep seeing those same words repeated in different ways, "You're not trying," or "You're deliberately failing," or "You're just not sticking to the right diet."
Do you know what this surgery does? ONE guaranteed thing - that's all: It removes 85% of your stomach. That means that temporarily, you can hardly eat. It means that in the long term, your capacity for dense protein is roughly a cup.
Here is the long list of what this surgery does NOT do, and what it will not help you address:
You will not feel better about yourself due to surgery
You will not stop loving food (not forever, perhaps temporarily)
You will not lose whatever food addiction made you fat
You will not instantaneously love exercise
You will not always make the right food choices
Whoever you are - whoever the real you is, under years of obesity, whatever issues you have - all of that? It's going to be there post op. It's going to be your job to shed as much of that as you can while shedding weight at the same time. And this surgery may not even remove your hunger. So you might have a tiny stomach, but still feel hungry all the time.
It's gotten to the point where these very flippant posts are starting to offend me. If you're less than six months out from surgery, let me tell you that you will eat your words about how easy this all is.
We do not have to support or validate poor choices here and I'm the first to jump in line and tell a person the lay of the land. But at the same time, making sweeping judgments of the success of other individuals is not only unfair, it discourages and disheartens people who need help the most. Because guess what?
This surgery is NOT going to be your magic cure all, and I say that as a woman in maintenance, staying near goal and more than a hundred pounds lighter than I was three years ago. I promise that I know what I'm talking about.

Almost two years post op here....and I have not been the best on eating or exercise. I do some exercise when I feel up to it...and for the most part I eat way healthier then I used to. As fas as restriction...I still have very little room and fill up really quickly. I have lost more weight then I could have imagined. I am not the weight that I originally wanted to get down to, but I am in a size 10 now, and after I have my Tummy Tuck ( coming in September) I am sure that I will be in single digits. I feel wonderful, and everyone tells me I look really healthy. I really couldn't be happier with my results! Good luck to everyone out there!

I have been doing a little research today and came upon this YOUTUBE video, it answers the question about why some people seem to experience hunger and some can eat barely anything. It seems that we all have different sizes of stomachs to start off with..EVEN if we were the same weight. so the smaller stomach people will have the same amount removed and it leaves them smaller pouches, us with larger stomachs..can hold a little more...or may feel hunger quicker. here is the video
