I have to be at the hospital at 5:30, there is no way I'll be going to sleep tonight. I'm so anxious, nervous, excited, all kinds of emotions! I'm not concerned with the actual surgery, just the after surgery part. Please everyone say a prayer for me!

Loving life! The BEST thing I've ever done. The resources and advice I've gotten on this board have been instrumental and I thank you all! About 7-8lbs more to go to hit goal and give myself a couple pound buffer but I know it will happen.
    Thanks again!

    Hey All -
I am excited to be 11 months out of surgery and down 107 pounds and feeling fantastic. I just wanted to post a positive post-op post because I know when I was researching having this procedure, I always wanted to read about good things so thought I'd share the same.
Basically, I've lost 107 pounds, went from a size 22 to a 10, a XXL to a M and my entire life has changed. I eat so clean now, spend most of my weekends hiking or being outdoors (something I was never into before). This has been life changing for me and for my husband, who has also gotten extremely healthy in the process.
My confidence has skyrocketed, my professional life is better, my only regret is that I didn't do this 5 years ago. Hope all my fellow post-op sleepers are doing well and hope this helps inspire anyone who is interested in the procedure.

Last post and I am finished with this thread.
I tried so hard to quit pre-op. Just look back at my posts. I really want to quit, but am I ready? Obviously no. It does make me sad that I, in a sense, "failed" at quitting smoking. But I'm not going to beat myself up, let someone chastise me, or sit back and let someone assume I am dumb because I still struggle with smoking. I'm actually very well educated. I am not old. Well I guess to some 30 is old, but not to me. The slow painful death of the English language is so sad to me. Facebook, texts, and tweets are eradicating complete sentences, proper grammar, sentence structure, and correct punctuation.
As for being a militant smoker, I have absolutely no clue what that means.
Possibly it was a misconception that I alway smoke while on a battle field, right after a battle, right before a battle, or some other ritual like that. I'm not in the military so not sure how that even came to be.
But I don't condone smoking. I won't bash people who smoke. And I hope the discrimination we all faced as obese persons will not transferred to the smokers. We all know how it feels to be sneered at, judged, ridiculed, mocked, and abused because of societies perception of what is acceptable. Why do we now think doing the same to those struggling with another addiction will help?

Not true. Your doc may have, but mine did not. I came out just fine and I have lost over 50lbs in less then 3 months. So while smoking isn't the best thing, I imagine its better then coming home and shooting up heroin.
And please don't get holier then thou about smoking. My doc new I was using the patch to try and quit.
Also if you were to scream at me because I was smoking in a permitted area and my smoke blew within a foot of you I would get right back in your face. Would you like it if when you were overweight and someone screamed at you because your stomach almost touched them?
I don't condone smoking. All smokers know its bad. It's dangerous. But how would bashing and belittling someone ever help them stop?

My answer to this question is yes. I didn't quit and wasn't asked to.. Please note that I am simply answering the question. I am not a smoking advocate nor do I encourage anyone to break rules set out by a physician. I had no complications from smoking before and after surgery and I healed just fine. Everyone may not have the same experience as me, but then again they might.
Again - I am answering this question. I do not require a lecture or any advice.

    10. Accidently closing the drawer on a boob while putting away clothes.
    9. Acid Nausea - the one where you are a little hungry and then all of a sudden need to eat NOW or else you are going to puke
    8. American Airline seat suction - the seat is thisbig and you are THIS BIG..you almost need a crowbar to get out. dont get me started on the seat belts!
    7. Sounding like an 18th Century house's wood floors when I get up.....crrrreeeeekkkkk...ppppoooooppppp...oh my knee!
    6. Walking up a short flight of stairs and feeling like my lungs are going to stage a coup and revolt.
    5. Being able to only cross my legs like a dude. Sorry guys but you know what I mean. Women can cross their legs and it looks eligant. Men cross their legs (well most guys anyways) and usually just place their ankle on their knee. I understand, you got "stuff" in the way. I just have fat
    4. Only getting the 'partial' hug. You know...the one where they try and go all the way around to give you the bear hug but only end up giving you a cub hug (arms are not long enough to go all the way around).
    3. Always asking for a chair at a restaurant because you are afraid you will stick to the booth if you try to slide in. Kind of like doing a slip-and-slide without Water.< /p>
    2. Always going straight home and laying down. At the end of the day, being just so tired from carrying around this extra person all day that you just want to get horizontal and not move. Ever. Again. Well till the next day anyways.
    AND....
    1. Sweating!!!!!! Walking through the grocery store...sweating! Walking into the movie theater....sweating! Walking through security at the airport and you are pouring sweat (because you are hot as hell) and the TSA guy is looking at you suspiciously. No officer..I am not carrying any hidden weapons or have any ill-contempt. I am just sweating cause my fat is crying!
