300 calories is really low for a whole day. My program's minimum requirement is 75g. of Protein and 800 calories. I'm not always able to get 800 calories but I'm over 600. My dietician said it's like a car...the more fuel you put in, the farther it can go.

    I'm 5'4 tall.
    highest weight 228
    at surgery 222
sleeved on July 22nd ad hit wonderland this morning at 199.4 four weeks after survey. I did hit a stall at week 3 and didn't loose a lb for about 4 days it was also during my cycle and my weight is always off during that time. I was wearing a 16 in all clothing probably getting closer to an 18 and today I am wearing my 14's comfortably. Still having Protein Shakes every morning with yogurt cheese and Jello throughout the day and slowly introducing soft food I'm excited for what's to come best of luck to everyone.

I drank so much Water before surgery, I feel dehydrated if I only get in 64 oz/day. I don't know how anyone, regardless of surgery status can feel good with much less than 64!

I think we all struggle with some of the same things you mentioned, BTB. We somehow make ourselves believe that once we "hit" the mark that magically, we are going to stay there without work when in reality, nobody really can do that.
Normal, non-sleevers, have to work to maintain or else all these gajillion gyms and diet centers wouldn't be around!
The hardest for me is knowing that I can MAYBE have a few special things at special times like BDs, parties, but I'm going to have to REALLY work to get back in line. Truly, one weekend of snacking/junk food can add back 3+ pounds quickly.
Maybe it's that as "foodies" we still have that mentality and think we "deserve" to eat again?? I know in my past life (before VSG) once I hit a goal on a "diet" I would tend to then immediately let up and slowly or quickly depending on my mindset regain what was lost!

The whole time I was losing, I never gave 2 thoughts to maintenance. I figured the body would find a happy weight and just stay there. Well, it kinda has. But my mind isn't coming along for the ride. Maintenance is hard for me because it's emotionally taxing. It's like there is this constant, permanent low grade stress that I can't shake. Losing weight was great. I was getting somewhere. Maintenance is like standing still.....and standing still is too close to backing up. Its disconcerting.
In my old life, if I worried about my weight, I'd have that same low grade stress all the time, always worried about my health. But back then I was able to shroud myself in denial for periods of time and forget about it. Of course, when I did that, I always gained weight. I think that's my fear now. If I relax....if I forget about what I need to do....I'll gain. And I will, I've already done it. The couple of times I've thrown caution to the wind, I gained back a few pounds very quickly. Those new habits aren't as ingrained as I'd like them to be. They still take a certain amount of effort and diligence. Perhaps they always will.
I often hear people say they didn't have this surgery to be on a diet for the rest of their lives. Well, what is a diet if not being diligent about what you eat? If that's a diet, then I'm on one and I'll have to stay on one forever. So be it. Better that than regain the weight.
It's hard yes, but worth it.
What's hard about it for you guys?

Best of luck. You can make decisions about your life. That said, 64 oz of liquid ain't much!

Thanks. I think I will talk to her when I go back to see her. Right now I'm at the stage that once I retake some labs (my Iron & albumin was low) I'll get my date and I'll sit down with my surgeon for the second time and we can discuss it then. I really want the sleeve.

I only had1 week of full liquid, then purees til week 6, with something new added each week according to my program. I just started week 4 and I have been eating: ricotta cheese (mixed with cinnamon), cottage cheese, greek yogurt, pureed chicken with a veg in it, refried Beans, deviled eggs, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed potato, and canned crab meat with light mayo. I also made some sugar free pudding with a scoop of unflavored Unjury. At this point I can eat about 3 tbsp at a sitting.
I findd my biggest challenge is timing everything...making sure I am not drinking close to meals, and fittiing Protein Shakes in too. I feel lucky to have no trouble getting in my liquids...I'vebeen getting 80-90oz/day/ The clear liquids like Water and diet tea I can drink pretty quickly b/c they just go right through the sleeve. I would say I can take in 32 oz in an hour.
I worry about fitting it all in with timing when I am back to work when school starts in a couple weeks!

That stuff is so rank! I bought it once before and it tastes SO gross. I highly recommend Unjury unflavored Protein Powder. It virtually has no taste and it can be mixed into anything. I mix it right into my cream Soups and barely taste a difference. I also heard Sam's Club makes a fairly good Protein Shake called Premier shakes. I haven't tried them but they have gotten good reviews on this site. My surgeons office sells this product called Healthwise. They are fruit flavored protein beverage mixers. They also make hot chocolate and soups. They are SO good and pretty in expensive. You can either mix them with Water, or even milk for added protein. I even make mine into smoothies on occasion.

I was sleeved on the 22nd but also didn't have the complications that you've had. Glad you came out of that okay, how scary! I haven't really had any problems. I was feeling great about a week after surgery. My Doc couldn't believe how well I looked and was shocked I wasn't in any pain. I've had little issues, really. I cant get in all 80 grams of Protein a day in and I'm still battling getting 48 oz of liquids without feeling too full. Regurgitation is probably my biggest complaint. I seem to really struggle getting in even 1/4 cup of pureed foods in. The slider foods are the easiest to digest but they really will stall a loss and are nothing but carbs. I'm down over 30 lbs since my I started my liquid pre-op diet and am super excited for next weeks weigh in with the doc. I personally haven't noticed a change really but whenever I bump into someone who hasn't seen me in a few weeks I've been told the loss is really obvious. I can physically feel the difference but my head hasn't caught up with the change yet so I'm not seeing it as everyone else is. I'm sure over time the more I lose that will change. Glad you're doing well! It may crappy that you have to be on 5 more weeks of fluids, but believe me.. Pureed foods have not been easy to get in. I'm over 2 weeks out and still mostly doing fluids for protein.

So I was sleeved on July 26th and had my share of problems that included an emergency surgery and a total of 4 blood transfusions and a 5 day hospital stay. I haven't had any other issues and I have to be on a 5 week full liquid diet for healing reasons. I'm loosing weight each day and I walk on my treadmill each day. I'm still in a bit of pain but that is also getting better each day. I was just wondering how all the other July sleevers are doing? I know I have a bit of different circumstances but how is everyone's pain levels and healing progress?

Well I thought I was getting off easy by not being nauseated by anything I've eaten so far but I spoke too soon! lol. Apparently mashed potoatoes are a no go for me. I just had a 1/4 of a cup with a bit of shredded cheese and well.. Yeah, it didn't want to stay in my sleeve. Ugh. There goes one of my favorite comfort foods. Blessing in disguise maybe?

    Little one,
GLAD you are here. Yes, it can spiral out of control!!! The sleeve is there forever, but you CAN "eat around" it. This is a HEAD battle that we all face. My suggestion... for two weeks go back to liquids (including Protein supps)... to "re-engage"
And 50 pounds aint shabby!!! Let's keep it off!

I chose sleeve because I read allot about the pouch stretching and all the weight coming back. second with the sleeve they take out the area that produces grenlin which is a hormone that causes hunger. Third Bypass has long term malabsorption issues with fat soluble vitamins. And finally which is biggest reason why I choose sleeve the anatomy of our intestines. With the sleeve it is not really changed or rerouted like bypass. Good luck to you on which ever procedure you choose

I have to say two things. First I do 2% because I'm not opposed to a little fat in my diet. But the 0% tastes ok too, I just feel it doesn't stick with me that long ( I eat this as a meal not a snack)
And the Danon light and fit? Be careful with all the ingredients including cornstarch to thicken it
(Not a true Greek yogurt) same with the yoplait Greek not true Greek it's milk Protein concentrates and Gelatin, bean locust gum to thicken....
But hey it's better than an Oreo!

The typical rule is 'never', because of the carbonation. You will get many different stories from some people making if flat and drinking it, and others just flat drinking it. Personally, I'm almost 9 months, and I am 100% soda free. I gave it up before my pre-op and now that it's out of my system I don't even miss it. I try to eat a lot cleaner, and even the diet sodas are so full of artificial sweeteners, and other stuff, I don't think it's worth it. It's a personal choice for everyone, but most surgeons label soda as a 'never again', all are different though. Good luck.
