Good information. It also depends on your actual policy as they all differ. I work as a case manager for Kaiser and there are thousands of plans and all very different in coverage and exclusions. For specific info for your particular kaiser policy it is best each person call and check their own benefit plan through member services.

1 year ago today I was wheeled into surgery, I was such a sad person, I was so unhealthy and had tried everything i could to lose weight. Today I'm 125 lbs lighter and over 96 inches of fat lost (that's 8 feet of fat!). Thank God I took this step!

I work in the hospital and got to tell you in my 20 years as a RN I have never found any dietician helpful to either me or my patients. They hand out preprinted crap over and over again but ask them to think outside the box and watch them panic. I have found doing my own google searches more helpful.

Thank God for Chris Christy and his new lapband. Finally we will have a celebrity spokesperson in a few years to speak out against the lapband and perhaps start the class action lawsuit once his band acts up. And you know its inevitable it will do something- slip, erode, not work, etc. Lets see how this all unfolds.....

When your sleeved you'll find that you cannot use food to medicate yourself anymore, and once the weight starts to come off and he can't call you names anymore, he'll find another topic to use against you. He needs counseling, and Lord willing he could be saved. Don't let him sabotage you!!! Don't set the example for you children that his behavior is okay, would you want your son's and daughters acting like him or putting up with a man treating them that way?? It's good that your aware of your situation, because knowledge is power!!! MANY women leave abusive men, it can be done, and it happens all the time. Life hasn't promised us easy street, so if he won't make an effort to get help, your heart will tell you what you need to do.

I always assumed that it was the lobbyists of the band that got to him... Gotta revive a failing product.

Knowing that there is a permanent solution (the sleeve) I view at the Lap Band as an option for people who want to change their minds.
Otherwise, why would anyone put themselves through the trouble of the band?

I definitely would report her. Stuff like this makes me so mad!!! Prejudice against the overweight is so common and people need to be held accountable. They think it's okay so say something so offensive to us but would they say something equally offensive/hurtful to someone about their race, disability, etc.? (I guess some would) Most would think twice.
I would have told her "You know, I will lose weight, but I feel sorry for you because there is no surgery in the world to make you less of a b**ch!"

I believe anyone who has taken this thread off topic to make it a personal argument between themselves and another member should truly be ashamed. From this point forward, if you are here to offer support to the OP, please do so. If you disagree with something another member has posted, then take it to PM. Nobody wants to see your personal arguments here, it is incredibly disrespectful to the OP who has shared something very personal and very tragic in her life. My ex husband is both bipolar and schziophrenic though not offically diagnosed until after our divorce. Nothing ever got better. I was medicated he was medicated I went to counseling he went to counseling we both went to counseling we moved couple of times trial separations. I even hauled his butt on the doctor phil show. We were the main guests on one of his earliest shows in 2002. Divorcing him was hard. He continues to be crazy and abusive verbally so I have a permanent restraining order. But I got remarried last august to a fabulous man and my life is a million times better. Move on sister. Time for a healthy life!

Please do report her file a grievance. I wish more patients would do that and we could finally get rid of these crappy nurses.
