  1. I'd check out about the Flinstones. http://bariatrichelp.wordpress.com/category/vitamins/ No Vitamin K in there, and mine has never registered its so low. I was on them. Good luck!! I hope it does work for you.
  2. Yes, that is why I chose what I did. I still have it. 86% of the people w/gastroparesis get it cleared, but 14% don't, at least from the studies I saw. I am glad I took the chance. Gotta start somewhere!
  3. YAY!! I had a doctor too focused on weight and not focused on my health. I do believe that is why I've had some of the issues that I've had and the care/treatment (or the lack thereof).
  4. There is discussion that Iron and calcium compete with each other. Iron works best with Vitamin C. So maybe something to look into? Also, do you really need the extra iron?
  5. Supertracker works really well.
  6. A packet or so ... I sprinkle mine on food.
  7. Hey Lynda, WOuld you mind letting us know how that works? I'm thinking about a corset or something, but my stomach muscles are messed up (like all mine are).
  8. Have you considered food intolerances? Have you been examined physically to make sure all is fine?
  9. I dont know since its been years, has anyone put together a nutritional profile on the fast food items, including the kids stuff?
  10. Agreed, dont rush things.
  11. We got warned off mashed potatoes.
  12. Electrolytes going off and/or your Protein being too low. In my case any way. Can kill you but you figure it out before anything gets too bad for the most part. {{shrug}}
  13. Forget hospitalization ... its the visits to the ER, infusion units, the malnutrition bout was a totally different story. Metabolic acidosis and alkalosis is NOT fun. I had a great ride, just had to pay the piper. LOL.
  14. Depends on when it is, couldn't get to Richmond unless on weekend.
  15. Did they do a CBC w/diff? What about B12 and rbc & serum folate? UIBC? Someone needs to take a serious look at that prealbumin. Are you losing weight? That's a serious Protein issue. I do mean really ... I was on TPN at that point when mine was 20 and went to 15 in 2 days.
  16. Hey VCU There is a good GI up there - Puneet Puri - at VCU. Say namaste for me, if it wasn't too complicated I'd wear my saris up there.
  17. I work with a lot of Indians who are Hindu. Millet is the choice grain there over quinoa but that's because its a local plant there. Its gluten free (I'm stuck in that genre sigh) Its not as high in Protein and Fiber, but very little difference Its not a complete protein since its missing lysine Less fat than quinoa Otherwise, its grown here in America whereas most of the others are from South America (from what I remember). When you are talking about millet, you are talking about it with the hull not removed, IF I remember correctly ... From what I'm looking at, these aren't official but look about on the mark: http://skipthepie.org/cereal-grains-and-pasta/quinoa-cooked/compared-to/millet-cooked/ http://www.healthaliciousness.com/nutritionfacts/nutrition-comparison.php?o=20035&t=20031&h=20036&e=100&r=100
  18. Hmmm interesting comment Cowgirl. Maybe the issue is saying you aren't 19 but he should have said maybe closer to 29 or something? Maybe that would have helped. What is that girdle or whatever like? My posture has problems also.
  19. It isn't your fault. After care is not something I'm finding that surgeons' want to deal with. I am starting to hear it more and more. It includes weight gain but also in cases where you have problems. I'd say listen to the good advice here and see what you can do with it, what would help me. Let me commend you for your strength and character in seeking help. You recognize that you are worth helping. That is a huge step. Keep thinking about that and fighting for you.
  20. Can you just check all of them in what you have? There is a good list of questions to ask at some of the blogs. I have a long one but it encompasses things I found out when the surgeon dropped my care. The complications that come up, you can help yourself by finding out whether or not they'll take care of you or just blow you off once the surgery is done.
  21. Playlike that is an outstanding and simple idea. Love that one.
  22. Guys thank you! I am in rehab (neuropathies are killing me) and so this is very helpful. Really appreciate it.
  23. Agreed - I hope that's all it is.
