The best surgeon on Hampton Roads, Va is: Dr. Terracina
How did all this work out? I have someone else getting done by Dr. Terracina. Love to know how he is. I had another surgeon in Hampton Roads, not far away and my story is one I publicize so that people don't get what I got and the knowledge of their actions is spread so people know their practices.

My surgeon won't operate because I complained
How did this all go Greensleeve? I have had a bad experience also, one where I asked for help and didn't get it. There are a few other things going on also but suffice it to say that they don't want me talking about my experience but then they shouldn't have dropped my care when it appears from other docs I had issues going on and they noted in my care that I was trying. Among other things ... I want to add more so that people like you and others aren't harmed and others are aware of what goes on. I know I've been followed, have been "gang stalked" and am constantly photo'ed, watched, etc. by this doctors' office. I've been on public property and had the cops called on me several times and they've told the doctor "ignore her, leave her alone".

taking reviews with a grain of salt
If you read my blog you'd understand just how much a surgeon with a different personality can make on your care (or the lack thereof). If they are arrogant they may be using that to intimidate people or bully people. Either way if they're in a caring profession, why should they be? Because they can! There is no reason for that. The idea that someone can be rude or arrogant and that people should accept that because they're good - why do people think that? We can all learn manners. If the doctor didn't want the hustle and bustle or can't cope with it, there are things to help them out, but taking it out on the patient: if they're like that before surgery, what will they might be like AFTER surgery when you need help? See my blog and tell me it doesn't make a different in your life and your care.

Leak Healed?
Well there are blips that come up, but yes I'd start wanting medical reasons. I mean ... they should have given them to you. Maybe I'm more sensitized due to what I've been going thru or that I've seen a recent blog post from a patient advocate who complained about the "needed" second mammograms, but I just want to see facts. I mean what you are talking about is highly unusual. I know in my case things were missed. I just don't want another person to suffer because they got the same blow off/brush off that I did.

Hungry, 3 days out
I was not hungry for months. Can some one talk to me about this one? Where I could find info on it and write it up? If this is an issue after surgery, for aftercare, maybe we need to talk about it. I'd certainly want to warn people as I didn't get any of this. Then again I was in the first year of those who got the sleeve (insurance approved any way, which is what most of us wait for). I want to make sure though it is not head hunger though. Thanks!!!

My strugglig
I see. Thanks for letting us know. If you would not mind, please keep us informed. I'm concerned about aftercare and I'd like to know. It is a situation that I'd probably want to tell people about, so that they would ask and know their surgeon dealt with it and didn't blow them off.

Hi--Finally Here in Vets Forum!
Agreed. The support stuff really is bent to 1 year and then its like oh you have survived but never anything after that. I see a lot of people who ask stuff that I think should have been handled by the doctors office. I'd like to see that after care after 1 year is addressed and what the surgeons' are involved in after that. I had problems that were not diagnosed and wondered why they were not caught by the doctor, since the indications were that they were from the surgery. I'm wondering if the fact that they don't do really anything for those after a year makes a difference.

Favorite family meals?!
Ok but is that different from what people have now? I put up a blog but I make it from the view point of lack of aftercare and what can happen with a bariatric surgeon who drops your care and you can't get any in the area. If you look at the top 10 blogs for bariatrics, they don't cover that. It gives something to stand your blog out. Oh and btw http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?ApologizeUnconditionally http://www.askmen.com/money/body_and_mind_150/177_better_living.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-apology_apology I had a few ladies that told me several things to fix on my blog, so I thanked them and spent a couple of weeks making changes, as I thought their comments had great merit. Just a different response that shows how I'm going to approach different viewpoints.

Hey, I'm in Va. also. I think you would be a good mentor because you've been through all that, meaning you know what adversity is like, and have overcome in mentally and are willing to give back.

Favorite family meals?!
Are you giving credit to others where it is due for their recipes? How about a share of the profits when you sell this cookbook? I'm sorry to dash your hopes but there are other WLS related sites (and other sites) out there for free and already several books out. I think what I would see here is how you can distinguish it from what else is out there? Any ideas? I'm speaking realistically ... of what you have in front of you.

Am i a veteran yet?
Actually the rule is 100 posts. I tried posting when I was 2 years out in the vets forum and couldn't do it until I had 100 posts.

Strugglin
We're here to listen. I second everything said above. Let me ask you - what do you like to do to feel good about yourself? What about pampering yourself? Sounds like you use it. You are beating yourself up: maybe a warm bath, get a massage, a pedi and mani?

Age and BMI have numbers. Caring, love, concern, friendship, hugs don't. They're immeasurable. No matter what your age number is, getting healthy is a great thing.

Leak Healed?
I would want to know the *medical* reasons why the surgeon is against it. I've personally had to deal with a doctor before that didn't give me medical reasons for things and used the 'you don't trust me' excuse to not answer. I found out he was wrong about a few things. Its not that he was wrong is bad, but that he wouldn't listen and how he acted in response to the situation. I'd ask the medical reasons. Seems odd to me because I've not heard of this many surgeries having to be done on someone before.

Leak Healed?
Oh my gracious!! I am so very sorry to hear this, that is rough. You are a very strong person to go through all of this. From what I understand - so note this could be wrong - is that the "leak tests" they do should indicate whether or not the leak is healed. I don't understand why they didn't suture that. What did the doctor explain to you about all this?

No meat...? Oh the struggle...
I put them in the dressing on salads. berry works great for those and so does unflavored. I tried chocolate once and that didn't go over well. I was wondering if I could make a chocolate frosting for strawberries LOL with Protein powder. I'll try anything.
