Follow up visit with sports med doc
You made an excellent point OregonDaisy. Our stomachs are cut so that the least stretchy part is there. I sincerely hope your restriction isn't from a bad but good problem. Same here for being on my own.

Adequate food intake at 2 years study
I have constantly been told that VSG's do not have malabsorption. The problem is that we don't know where some people do and some people don't. Since there is altered motility of the GI track with the VSG, it is a guess as to who gets what. There can be other factors that affect that issue.

Sugar substitutes
Just a link I found on sugar substitutes. Don't know if people are using them or just regular sugar in smaller amounts. http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm397711.htm

wanna lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks
That's great. However have you asked the following questions at http://wp.me/p4rHV9-3 for example. No one here is trying to be nasty or anything. As skinnygirlwithin pointed out, we're not seeing a lot of information, just someone who's come on and said I have to do this within a short time frame and that's really not realistic unless they've already had all their clearances for health, etc. Trying to lose 10 pounds, you can do that by a pre op diet and your surgeon already knows that. You have to realize you are going to be working during the time of that fast and that's very few calories. Are you going to be able to do that?

Too much walking?
It can have an impact. Think about it, your gallbladder stores bile to use to process fat. If you are burning off fat, the more bile the gallbladder can shoot out, the more you should be able to process fat. The reason why so many have to get rid of their gallbladder is because it develops stones or doesn't work properly because of all the fat that its working itself overtime on.

Too much walking?
If you are 4 weeks out/1 month, I was cleared at that time to do anything. That's why I was wondering - all I know are cleared at that point.

Too much walking?
Hmmm starvation mode is a myth. I just saw an item that came across about this - let me look thru the notes but she wouldn't be starving right now: http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=35501 http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/749313-fact-or-fiction-starvation-mode http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2495396/pdf/postmedj00315-0056.pdf

Too much walking?
Have you tried veggies instead of fruit and you do get plateaus now and then early on (which you are on schedule for). What are you drinking? Lots of Water? I also was hoofing it a lot like you, but lost more but we are all individuals. I didn't look at the scales as much as whooo hoooo I am FREE ... at my one month appt. I had the bags packed going its 2 days into the swimming contest and I'm out of here. Do you have your gallbladder?

wanna lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks
Yes, that would take a week to 2 weeks. Then scheduling the surgery would take a week or two? That would be end of June, first part of July I think, at the earliest. Is that something you can do? That would give you 6 weeks to recover. The problem is that can they do it in 2 weeks?

wanna lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks
If you don't have surgery now, its not something you can just up and get done. There are a number of hoops to go through. So basically if you are looking to be up and after kids, unless you had surgery in June, I doubt it.

Seeking mentor
My cholesterol level was somewhat high because my *HDL* was high. The lowest I had it was 55 and usually was in the 80's to 90 BEFORE the surgery. After surgery it has been insane. I've had it go to *127*. That's the *HDL*. The only times the LDL goes up is when the malnutrition is really bad. That being said, my full blood sister had HDL in the 40's, and started losing weight and eating healthy. It went into the 30's. Then this past few months, to the 20's. She's lost weight and kept it off, drinking healthier and exercising. She has a coach. Go figure.

wanna lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks
Um you don't have a surgery date? What requirements have you fulfilled from the surgeon? I guess I'm a little bit confused because it says you don't have a surgery date but in 2 weeks you'll be off for 2 months. If you don't have a surgery date then it takes a few weeks to get one. I'm sorry to not be that helpful. Could you give us a little more detail please? Thanks.

How do you handle not eating at work
I still go out with groups to eat. I just eat what I can and use the rest for leftovers. Or I don't eat and just drink and enjoy the company.

Constipation! Help!
I've seen 2 schools of thought on the "lazy" bowel if you take softeners, laxatives, etc. So I don't think it is set in stone. That being said, best to review any literature and see if there are 2 competing schools of thought in the research and how they're getting proven.

Planking
Yes, my vet does it also. He actually released a Christmas photo one year planking on the exam table. ROFL.

Constipation! Help!
Once you get low, it is worth trying to get the infusions. Just a note, there is a difference between heme and non heme iron, for those who don't know, and how much is absorbed. So something you might want to watch for.

Constipation! Help!
One note on this: are they telling you to take Vitamin C with it? That enhances absorption. Do you take it with Synthroid or levothyroxine? If you do, the Iron can cause decreased absorption. Dont take it with Calcium either. Are they sure you have an IDA or something else? I mean just what were you tested for? TIBC, UIBC, etc.

Running too Slow
Most of the great distance runners are not the 20-24 year old group. We have one who became a noted runner after their 40th birthday - closer to 50 actually. Same for their partner.

Triathlon
I am a slacker. I have runner and swimmer and biker friends. I asked who was the local groups in town and then started from there. Can you check to see if you have anything like that? I don't know if you have already, so I apologize if that was stupid. Let me know so I can give another suggestion.
