You have to think of it this way. Your body has basically been "starving" the last few weeks. Now that it is getting some fuel it's going to hold on to it for a little bit. You know in case of another fuel shortage.

I had Dr. Garcia on 7/5/2013, and am happily down 50 lbs. I felt extremely well taken care of with Dr. Garcia and team. My main heads-up would be if you end up last on the list to get surgery that day (I don't believe I made it into the operating room until after 8 pm) make sure you get another dose of anti-anxiety meds AND anti-nausea medicine. Mine had certainly worn off by then, so I was in absolute misery with nausea and vomiting that night. I also got the short straw with the IV stand I was toting around - for some reason the one I had had the bottom of an office chair screwed onto it instead of four steel wheels everyone else had, which made walking down the hall in a straight line impossible and annoying. It's the little things. But other than that and a blown IV vein on the hand (seems to be pretty common), it was a much better experience than I had getting sinus surgery at a hospital in the states. The nurses and other staff at florence were very sweet, and it was great to have so many different doctors checking up on you. I had no complications surgery-wise. I would recommend him for sure.

I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia on 07/03/13 and could not be happier. I was 277 the day of surgery and I am 187 now, down 90 pounds!! I have not had one single problem. I could not have been taken care of any better while I was in the hospital or in the hotel. Being a nurse I have seen lousy care, but the nurses and doctors that took care of me were fantastic.
A woman that I work with also went to Dr. Garcia a few months after I did and she has also had great success. I cannot recommend him highly enough, you will never regret choosing Dr. Garcia.

Another Dr. Garcia patient here...My hospital experience was super-positive (I went alone, too) and I have lost 66 pounds since late June. I have had no complications whatsoever. In fact, I was so happy with the care I received in TJ that I encouraged my mom to have the same surgery with Dr. Garcia and she did, three months after me. Plus she went with a good friend of mine, whom Dr. Garcia also sleeved...LOL Both my mom and friend had really good experiences, as well.
I feel like I need to add, though: I do still get hungry--in fact I never really stopped feeling hunger. I am losing weight because I track my calories pretty carefully and I try not to go over 1000. And while it's so much easier to keep my intake low than it was pre-surgery, I know I could easily eat enough to maintain my weight--maybe even gain--and my mom is in the same boat.
My friend, on the other hand, never feels hungry and doesn't have to track calories...so maybe extra big, stretchy tummies just run in my family!

Oh sweetie, I'm sorry you're feeling bad now. But it won't last. Every day really is better than the previous. And pretty soon you'll be losing weight. The beginning is hard, I know, but it is oh so worth it.
And if you don't believe me, take a look at the pictures on here, read some of the vets' posts, and remember: pretty soon you won't have a belly to hold!

I'm ok, I had a follow up CT Thursday, there was some debate as to if the leak is closed or not so I drank blue dye and waited 24 hours to see if it showed in my drain. It never did! I've been able to start Clear liquids but as of today we still aren't 100% sure I'm healed so I'm only drinking brightly colored crystal light to see if anything shows up. If by tomorrow all is still good I will switch to oral pain meds and get Protein shakes! The hope is to go home without my PICC.
Also as of today my white blood cell count is normal for the first time since the leak was found.

I did this climb after work on Tuesday. It is not considered a difficult hike, gaining 2200 elevation over about 2.5 miles (so around 5 miles round trip), but it was a pretty steady grind up. We had a picnic dinner at the top with it's 360 views, watched the sunset from those big boulders as it turned orange and red over over puget sound, enjoyed the fullmoon in a sky reflecting crazy colors from the sunset and then hiked back down in the dark (headlamps).
Turns out, there is this whole amazing world out there for people who are fit enough to find it!
My friend hasn't shared photos yet, so this is a stock photo of the lookout we climbed to. Only the last part was the boulder scramble most of it was a true hike.
For you locals - this is Mt Pilchuck and the peak is at about 5300 feet.

I am actually the one who brought this to Alex's attention. Contrary to what has been posted, this had nothing to do with competition, money, or anything else. It had to do with concern for our members. Take a step back for a moment, and tell me, knowing the things that go on in this day and age, if seeing numerous posts of a man offering to accompany woman whom he has never met alone to a foreign country, or even his own wife offering his services, doesn't seem a bit suspicious? Unfortunately, we here about internet scams all the time, people falling for them, losing all their money, getting molested, or worse. We do not know the OP or his wife, so, based upon that, yes, we felt the need to protect our members by doing a little investigating to ensure their safety was not at risk. If that offends some of you, well, I will not say I am sorry because I firmly believe what was done was in the best interest of our members. I will continue to stand by my belief that any woman, or man for that matter, should be very cautious about accepting free or paid services from anyone who offers to accompany them alone to a foreign country when they are quite vulnerable and could be taken advantage of. I am not saying that is in any way the OP or his wife's intention, I am just saying better to err on the side of caution.

And I hit GOAL yesterday! Could not be more excited, although it seems a bit surreal that in 6 months and 2 days I have lost 81 pounds! Start weight was just under 220 at 5'4. Today's weight...138! I have gone from a size 20 jeans to a 6, and a 2XL top to a SMALL! My chest went from a 42DD to a 36D or 34DD depending on the fit! I am thrilled with my results, and while it hasn't been "easy" the whole time, the process for me honestly hasn't been that difficult. I log every.single.thing that passes my lips on MyFitnessPal and I workout for 90-120 minutes a day...running 3-6 miles 6 days a week and lifting weights with my amazing best friend and workout buddy, who has also been my biggest cheerłeader. Going to Mexico was hands down the single best decision I have ever made for myself. I finally have my life back, and truly feel like a new person. And don't mind my husband's closed eyes in the one photo...we could NOT get a good pic of him that night!

I'm now at 4 months post-op. I had surgery on March 18th w/Dr. Garcia in Tijuana. For me, it was a great experience. He and his whole team went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. And, if you add him on Facebook, Dr. Garcia is awesome about answering any follow-up questions you might have.
I've got a ways to go, but I'm very happy with my progress so far.

Dudes. Yes, TMI, but seriously peeps - I'm two weeks out, and I made the mistake of not taking stool softeners after surgery before things got all bolloxed up in there (plus I wasn't regularly taking my thyroid meds, which didn't help), plus, I should've taken some Probiotics (lack of good bacteria also resulted in oral thrush from the antibiotics, which required another medication), so now I have bleeding hemorrhoids! Eek! Not fun. I need to go out and buy some old lady butt supplies now, heh. Just a cautionary tale - don't leave stool softeners/probiotics out of your post-op care kit!!
