  1. The most awkward thing about eating out socially is when someone doesn't know that I've had the surgery and they notice how little I've eaten. I've been out with people I'm not close enough to to want to share that I've had weight loss surgery be very concerned with the fact that I didn't eat much. Others didn't know and kept giving me food and I had to kindly decline and explain that I couldn't eat anymore, which they didn't really understand.
  2. I stay away from fast food, but if I'm going to a sit-down restaurant, I usually try to order something high protein--mostly chicken or beef every so often. I've also begun sharing dishes with people which I never enjoyed doing pre-sleeve.
  3. I was sleeved on May 21st. My starting weight before my pre-surgery diet was 305. Now I'm 242.

  5. The longest stall I've experienced last about 3 1/2 weeks. It was three months after my surgery and I was so discouraged and thought that I would not lose any more weight. Finaly it broke, and now I'm just under 5 months out and have lost 60 pounds.

  7. I have PCOS and I noticed that my first two periods after surgery were unusuallly heavy.
  8. I went jogging yesterday for the first time in awhile and I suprised myself at how much my stamina has increased since losing weight. I was able to push myself and go longer than before!
  9. I had a stall that lasted 3 weeks and it was frustrating. Part of it was that I made some bad food decisions. But to break it, I went back to basics and ate like I did on my pre-op diet and drank more protein shakes and water. And once it ended, I started losing again quickly- 10 pounds in 8 days! Hope it ends soon!
  10. I've been trying my hardest to get in my required amount of protein and liquids each day, but lately it's been either or, and I'm out of town so my routine is really out of sorts. I also forgot to take my vitamins the last couple days which all combined really made my body upset. Long story short, early Sunday morning I got up to take some medication for my foot that I pulled a muscle in. Once I got to the bathroom I began to feel nauseous and I thought I was going to vomit. In my head I wasn't sure why, maybe it was something I ate the night before, I didn't know. I sat down on the toilet to wait it out when I all of a sudden felt very flushed and hot. The next thing I know I am waking up on the floor after passing out and hitting my head on the tile floor. I had to go to the ER to get a drip. The doctor believed it was a combination of dehydration, and a lack of nutrients/protein from eating less and possibly low iron. He said my body is still probably catching up to my new way of life post surgery. I learned the hard (and painful) way of the importance of getting BOTH enough liquids and protein, and not to skip your vitamins!
  11. My nutritionist never set a clear amount of carbs to limit myself to post-sleeve. I'm just wondering how many grams of carbs do you limit yourself to per day?
  12. I'm reviving this thread because I fell off the wagon this past weekend while on vacation. I ate too many carbs and fried foods (although less than I used to eat by far) and I know I was making bad decisions. It's definitely a learning process and a large adjustment, which I'm still working at. Now I need to get back on track and start losing again.
  13. I was sleeved on May 21st by Dr. Sabir at Providence. I haven't weighed myself in a couple weeks but last I know I was down 33 pounds.
  14. The first photo was me just under a year ago at my highest weight of about 312 pounds. The second, about a month after my surgery. You can see how much weight I've lost in my face! So far since pre-op, 33 pounds total!
  15. I've been on Synthroid for hypothyroidism for about 5 years now. I know there's a rumor about how it makes it more difficult to lose weight. It was difficult before surgery, but I have had no problem since having the sleeve. I just had my bloodwork done to check the levels, I'm hoping to lessen the dosage.
  16. A real bike, not a stationary bike, and its much harder than I remember as a kid! My thighs and legs are so sore. But I'm working on stamina and going a little further each time!
  17. That's great and really exciting! The biggest thing that I would say is it is nervewracking but it's not as scary as it sounds. You'll be fine! Also, just be prepared for a whole new relationship with food and eating, it's SO different than before the surgery. I wasn't quite prepared for how drastic it is at first.
  18. Right now I'm craving a piece of toast, cereal, and ice cream. Carbs just sound SO GOOD right now.
  19. The only one I could tolerate was the Green Apple Melon or whatever.
  20. The Premiere Protein (chocolate flavor) from Costco is the only one that I really don't mind. If you get it cold enough it can taste like chocolate milk.
  21. I'm just over a month out and so far I've had zero complications or problems. I've had some scares but they were all just in my head because I think too much.
  22. They put me on a blood pressure medication when I left the hospital because it was elevated, but I had to stop taking it because it dropped my blood pressure too low and I'd get dizzy each time I stood up. I'd make sure your blood pressure isn't too low and that you're getting enough liquids/proteins.
  23. It's great to meet you all! I'm glad there's so many young people on here because sometimes I feel like there's still a social stigma about people our age. When I told my friends and people close to me, they were supportive but I could tell they were a bit surprised that I wanted to do this. I don't think they realized how difficult it was to try and lose weight on my own. I also wanted to give myself a second chance to live. I'm hoping this tool will give me more self-confidence and opportunities to my life. I'm excited to hopefully keep in touch with everyone! I know there's lots of helpful forum posts on here but I thought it would be good to have a place to bring up questions, stories, concerns, etc. specific to our age range. I've been fairly lucky with my recovery so far--I haven't had any problems with the food stages although I found myself getting sick of eating the same foods. I'm looking forward to continuing to see the progress of the next few months.
  24. I'll be a month out on the 21st, and so far 22 pounds down from surgery, and 30 total with pre-op diet.
  25. I had Chinese food (chicken and broccoli) this past Saturday and I didn't have a problem. I didn't find it AS enjoyable as I did before surgery, but it was still good. As long as your stomach and tastebuds agree with it, you'll be able to have it again.
