Holy fast track!! Went to my initial appointment with my primary care doctor today got a EKG and physical done all at once. Answered a few questions and the dr. told me I was a good candidate for this surgery! Wooohooo got my behavioralist appointment next Wednesday and the following week I meet the surgeon. I'll be having my surgery in about 6 weeks!! Yaaaaay!!!

I urge you to follow your doctor's timeline, they really do know what is best. Maybe you should talk to your surgeon and be honest about how you feel. They just might give you the green light, but I wouldnt go making your own rules at this point. Sorry :-( I hope you feel better real soon!

No one is yelling at you, they are simply answering your question. If you already knew the right answer for you, why ask?
Personally, I can do anything for six weeks if it increases my chance for perfect recovery. Weak, strong, I am in this for the long haul and I'm playing by the rules.
I'd gently suggest that you not ask for answers you may not want to hear. Good luck to you!

Amanda, part of your weakness might NOT be due to food. As WLS patients, we tend to attribute everything to our lack of eating and sometimes it's just not true. I don't know how much weight you need to lose but trust me....we ALL have calories in storage and going a while without a significant amount of Protein WILL be ok. Be sure stay hydrated...if you can drink Water with Protein in it, great, but if not, be sure to still drink your Water. But right now, your body is also "clearing" toxins and anesthesia from surgery, dealing with healing (internally and externally), etc. You should almost EXPECT to have periods of weakness...almost like getting over the flu, you know?
I would NOT test what your stomach can handle at this point. I'm a week post-op tomorrow and I KNOW how you feel. I feel like I can eat anything and yes, I want something with more substance. But at this point, it's about letting the internal stitches heal and honestly, we can't FEEL those. We don't have the nerves in the stomach like we do our skin. But seriously...look at those stitches on your abdomen that are JUST NOW starting to close up...your stomach isn't any further along in the healing process!!!
Weakness is OK...creating a leak is NOT.

Yes children feed on our own fears. and its natural to be scared. I was and bet everyone here has been at one point of this step. and yes its a big one. But now that its done and I personally had no pain and am slowly getting a new drive about me. that well everyone that knows me says I am becoming the fun loving laughing and full of sprit I use to have. some thing that has been gone for a very long time. until today I didnt realize it till brought to my attention at my family dr's office. and they have known me a good 20 years.

Mystigal, I can totally relate to the fearful kid issue. I have two daughters, 12 and 3. Obviously the 3 yo isn't aware of anything, but my 12 yo would be terrified too!
When I had a minor cosmetic surgery six years ago my Dr. had to give me valium the night before AND the day of surgery because I was such a scared mess. My thoughts will be with you and your little girl tomorrow around noon. I am sure you will wake up from surgery just fine and be hugging your daughter shortly thereafter.
    Good Luck, mamma!!

I didn't quit before or after surgery. I wasn't asked to quit and I had no threats of a test before the Dr would do the sleeve. Some doctors do and some don't. Be sure and check with yours before making your decision.
I healed wonderfully post op and I had no complications.
This is just my experience. I am not encouraging anyone to smoke and I don't require any advice or remarks about the choices I make.
I am just answering the question.
Thank you and have a wonderful day.

I sure hope that stuff works for you.. ive always been told there is nothing you can do for it.. but hey one can hope right? I too have the palmers for toning skin.. when I read that it would work I stopped using it.. talked to a surgeon..and he said nothing will help other than getting the tummy tuck..the arms down.. sort of an overhaul on the body.. im only worried bout my stomach right now.. yes there is much saggy skin.. so in a year or so.. I will have that taken care of..and get more of a shape to me.. other than round LOL. then my hubby says I can get my breasts lifted too if I wanted to.. no additives or anything just lifed and skin tightened.. so that will be cool.. but Ive a long ways to go for all that.. I want to have my wt maintained before all of that.. Im really excited about the future for me.. its been a great journey.. worth everything Ive been thru.. hope your will be too.. might try the coconut oil tho in hopes of that working.. let me know if it does.

You should probably call the office to ask about the leak test. I am pretty sure they do one during the operation... Don't freak (easier said than done) you will be fine and his staff has been great answering my questions (still awaiting approval) they call me back right away. I had a freak out moment one Friday afternoon after my coordinator was gone and she called really early on Monday to answer my question and put my fears at ease. Good luck

I just scheduled my surgery with Dr, Nick for June 25th. So far, everyone in his office has been super friendly and has gotten back with me quickly. I had a consultation with him a week ago and we seem to be a good patient/doctor fit because he is very forthright about everything and that's the thing I like most in a doctor.

Don't freak out. It will be good. I was nervous as well but I am already glad I did it. Have faith in yourself. You did the research. Trust it.
